The Center For Middle Eastern Classical Music

The Center for Middle Eastern Classical Music was established in Jerusalem in 1996, by Yehoram Gaon and Dr. Avi Shoshani.
Our mission is to keep alive the rich history of traditional music from Eastern countries and to bring this music to the public.
Our center is housed in a beautiful historic home in the Musrara neighborhood, where the Israeli Black Panthers movement bloomed in the early 70’s.
The first of its kind in Israel, the center’s establishment brought about a revival of classical Middle Eastern music in Israel - an art culture that had gone unrecognized for decades - and has since paved the way for many cultural institutions to follow.
