I have been looking for these for years! I use to get them with shawarma when i lived in Dubai back in the late 70’s and 80’s. That was the best sandwich ever with tahini sauce onion and pickled turnips! Thank you for posting!!!!
I've had turnips from many different restaurants and I have NEVER had anything as good as the ones I make following your instructions! Thank you so much! They always turn out absolutely amazing.
I first had these when I was in Bahrain, and I couldn't believe how good they were. Thank you for showing me how I can make them and enjoy these tasty treats again.
It looks delicious. Soon i will try your instructions. Here in Israel many people who came from Iraq have plenty ways to prepare pickles. God bless the Mediterranean food...
I eat these as a snack instead of chips, candy or cookies. I love these I buy them from Mediterranean restaurants by the zip lock bags then put them in container when I get home and snack all week
Hi Tina this is sona k.I'm armenian from Lebanon like you and I like this turnip pickles thank you very much I wish we see you more and more and the RUclips channel my question the water for the pickles will be boiler? I want to know thank you
Yummmm.........I have never had pickled turnips. As a matter of fact I have never had turnips.. I use to make pickled beets and ate them all the time. I'll have to try and make some of these and see how they taste....since I can't just come over in the car and try them. You my beautiful friend have a bless week and weekend. Sending BIG hugs.
Hi Tina. Oh these look delicious, I love turnip and beets and pickled things. Thank you for sharing this awesome recipe with us, I am putting it in my recipe book. I think my family would love them . Happy Monday my friend! 💞 👌🏻
Hi, Tina ❣️ Looks yummy 😋 TFS 🙏 Always a pleasure watching your videos. I love everything you share with us😻Love and big hugs to you my sweet and beautiful friend 💕🇩🇰
Made these, they are awesome. My only question is does the sealed unopened jars only last the 3 weeks before they go bad or is it once the jar is open it only lasts 3 weeks?
I make them and they keep for 2-3 months even after opening , especially refrigerated. Basically, just like store bought cucumbers the get better with time.
Hey Tina... thank you for sharing your recipe with us...I was wondering if I could add some onion to the recipe as well?... what do you think?.......👍👌🙋😇😘
Hello! These are traditionally made in a vinegar brine. You can definitely use natural fermentation (and I’m sure it would be tasty), but it would be a different dish. ❤
Thank u so much sweetheart. I personally never used it, but u can definitely reuse it as long as it’s refrigerated. The pickles that you have to can in water bath and stuff you can’t. Hope that helps. TFW 💖
Eventhough you will not check my comment, 11 months, after posting the recipe but I want to tell you that I was looking for this beauty as I ate em in Saudi Arabia last year for the first time and loved em. Thank you so much. I definitely will give it a go. I will check your other posts as well. 👍👍 Lots of appreciation from Pakistan
HI TINA HOWS THINGS HOWS YOUR HEALTH. I AM JEWISH AND I LOVE SOME OF THE THINGS YOU MAKE. MY GIRLFRIEND IS BORN HERE BUT HER NATIONALITY IS LEBINESE SORRY FOR THE BAD SPELLING I HAVE SOME MEDICAL PROBLEMS LIKE FIBROMYALGIA TWO PRODUDTION DICS IN MY LOWER BACK MORE ECT...
Thank you so much for this recipe! I made them yesterday and they are already very tasty after just 12 hours pickling. I'm sure they will taste even better after 5 days, if there are any left....😅 They are way better than what I can buy at the store where I live.
I think the longer they sit the more sour they become, it’s just natural fermentation. But also the restaurants they put more vinegar to water ratio to speed up the process. Homemade is always getter. Hope u give them a try and let me know how u like them 🥰
Do beets absolutely have to be added? If I do not add beets, will the pickled turnips still taste the same? I understand it is for the colour but I don't mind white pickled turnips. Please let me know.
Ok you gotta help me out. This is my first time picking turnips and only my second time pickling something ( picked onions on my first try ). I followed your recipe which looked similar to another one I saw. My problem : I tried them after 3 days or so of sitting in the fridge just to try it out. And it has an awful dirt taste to it ! From what I have read it’s probably from the beets ? What can I do to fix this problem ? Do I need to throw them out or is it fixable ?? Thanks
First I would ask, do you like beets normally? Some people don't like them because they say they taste earthy. Personally I love beets all ways. Secondly did you remove the tops and bottoms of the beets and turnips and wash them really well with a vegetable scrubber? You may also want to peel them. Before I throw them out completely, I would try removing the peel, rinsing them, putting them in a fresh pickling solution and see if you like them better. Keep making pickles and ferments, they are good for you and like so many things, you only really learn by doing. Don't feel like you've failed if it doesn't work out the first few times. Just you are learning will get better. No one is perfect every time and no one is perfect in the beginning. We're all a work in progress.🙂
I have been looking for these for years! I use to get them with shawarma when i lived in Dubai back in the late 70’s and 80’s. That was the best sandwich ever with tahini sauce onion and pickled turnips!

There’s a small deli here that serves these. They make theres like flat disks though. So they go better on the sammies. Delicious!!

Looks amazing good job😎👍
Going to try this on the weekend. I don’t like beetroot. Is it that which gives it the lovely pink colour?

Hey Tina... thank you for sharing your recipe with us...I was wondering if I could add some onion to the recipe as well?... what do you think?.......👍👌🙋😇😘
Angel is Sowell I guess u could, won’t hurt. This is the authentic way to do it but yeah by all means. Let me know how u like it 😉🥰
Thank you for the lovely video. Just out of curiosity if these are ever made by natural fermentation?
Hello! These are traditionally made in a vinegar brine. You can definitely use natural fermentation (and I’m sure it would be tasty), but it would be a different dish. ❤
"Ready in No time."
"Four to five days in the fridge." 🤣
I ain't hatin, that's just funny.
Thank you Tina. It came out perrrrrrfect like never before.
Awe thank u so much sweetheart I’m so glad. TFW and have a great day 💖
Tina, can I reuse the same brine for another new batch of turnips? Thank you very much for such amazing videos
Thank u so much sweetheart. I personally never used it, but u can definitely reuse it as long as it’s refrigerated. The pickles that you have to can in water bath and stuff you can’t. Hope that helps. TFW 💖
Hmmm.. who’s mouth is watering?🤤
Yummy 💕💕💕
So yum!!!!
Thank you!
Hi Tina thank you for the recipe not question white vinegar what is the percentage acidity there ?
Hi, no problem at all. It’s 5% it will say pickling on the jug. TFW 🥰
I should put it in the fridge the day I make it ?
Yes right after it cools down. Enjoy 🥰
Can you can them and keep them on the shelf in your pantry until you open them?
Hi Tina, could you elaborate on why we cannot use table salt? What does the added iodine do? Thank you for your great video.
Table salt would make the brine murky
Hi Tina, I know beet is to give the color, but can you eat it also or just the turnip?
Hi Taline, you can definitely eat it, it’s delicious. Hope you like it ❤
What do you eat t then with?
Using this recipe can you store those for long term
Since it’s refrigerated it will be ok for few weeks but trust me it won’t last lol. Hope you like them 🥰

👍Such a kind hearted lady, bless you
I'm not a turnip eater but I wonder if my hubby would eat these! I might have to ask him if he enjoys turnips or not lol!
I would give them a try if you like other pickled foods. You may not like turnips other ways, but love them like this.

Hello I made this as you said but it’s been 7 days and when I opened the jar the turnips are still too crunchy and not done. Suggestions?
Yum 😋 Tfs 💞
Hello? The vinegar water is still hot when you covered ? Thx ☺️
Hi, yes it is. Hope that helps. TFW sweetheart 💖
Betterave fresh (dry) or cooked?
I love these but sometimes I get them from restaurants and they are extremly sour. What makes some sour and some not?

@@TinaKazarian I will be making this tonight and trying it in a few days. Thank you !! 😊
They only stay good for 3 weeks? With a salt brine and in the refrigerator? Why?
hi there, can i use sea salt or hemalian salt which also call pick salt. thanks
Hi Ary, yes of course. Hope you like it. TFW hun 😊
Tried this, I turned pink afterwards.
Do beets absolutely have to be added? If I do not add beets, will the pickled turnips still taste the same? I understand it is for the colour but I don't mind white pickled turnips. Please let me know.
No u don’t have to add them they’re just for colour. If u don’t mind them white then go for it 😉
Do you eat the beets? I have only ever seen the turnips served.
You can, in the restaurants they only serve the turnip because it’s nice and pink where the beet is not as nice in colour lol, but totally edible
