Bada$$ brother. You have a knack for creating and making things come to fruition. Takes passion drive patience and skill. I pray all this becomes whatever you want it to be. Keep pushing brother. ✊🏻💯🙌🏻
This turned out amazing, you really did a great job 👏 and the D stamp from Michael took it over the Top. This was a great video thank you for taking the time to do this. ❤️👍
Damn, you did a pretty damn good job!!! If I would have just seen the finished slip first, I would've never known you were new at it. Awesome job, and thanks for making the video. I really enjoyed it. May try one myself some day. Best wishes.
I love how chill you are ... I am so anal that I have literally tossed almost completed slips and such. My OCD just won't allow me to look past mistakes. I am assuming you already know now, but for others who don't know how the stitch ended up being too wide of a space "in between" the punches. You need to set the first prong in the last hole as you punch each set of holes. Then they will always be perfectly spaced. Also, there are no rules in how to finish your stitching but I prefer to actually tie on both sides and then pinch the ties in the second to last hole. I also back stitch at the top just as you did at the bottom giving it a little stronger stitching where the most stress will take place over the life time of use.
👍🏼I like your slips. Do slips ever have clips? Maybe another layer of leather for clip to rivet to. Not sure. Don’t really like things down in my pocket. ??
Lancelot Leather makes some great “clip slips” as well as some other leather makers. Personally I keep my slip in the same pocket as my primary knife, so I like it down in my pocket
Nice work dude. You can get a tip for that marking tool you used that will cut a shallow groove for your your stitching to lay flush with the leather surface fir a clean look
Very nice video for beginners. I am still one myself. Only tip I could offer is to get a rubber hammer instead. One with weight in the head, but not TOO much. That'll help with controlling your hits and keeping your steel tools alive for longer.
Very instructional video. I think you could avoid spacing issues by simply overlapping 1 hole each time you re-punch the next set of holes. Also you might try a rounding at the bottom as well it will be harder to get your holes punched but will ride nicely in tour pocket.
"Case" your leather before stamping or tooling the leather. You do this by wetting it slightly with a moist sponge or cloth and letting it rest for 5-10 minutes. Also want to do any tooling or stamping before sewing
It looks like those zip ties could cause a indent if they stick out to far, might want to sink them into the leather on the vise so that they make no contact with your leather work piece. .
If I can get you to make me one do I need to send you the knife the new (ORJ) first? And of course send you $ for it first. Would love to see what you come up with! Would let you run with how ever you want to do it! Makers choice. Love the D stamp on the last one too!
I’ve been looking for a hobby while I’m on the road. Something with my hands I can do in a hotel room at night. This looks like it would fit that need. Appreciate the demonstration…🫡
@@doodysdaggers I’ve given it a lot of thought, and I think I’m going to start refurbishing blades/knives. I travel a lot, so I’m always in hotel rooms. I think a Dremel kit and bits, compounds and the like wouldn’t be too much extra weight space. Plus I’ve got some experience in that department, just on a larger scale.
Great job! I appreciate your sharing this with us. Thank you!
Thank You For Sharing Skills !!! Your Work Is Very Impressive !
This is sweet, thanks for sharing!!

That looks pretty sweet! I may give it a try sometime. I like the rebar handle on the hammer! 🔨
Excellent demonstration video!! 😊

Hey, if it works it works!

Good advice man!! Yeah I am constantly learning how to make better leather stuff
Awesome video to widdle some sticks to lol great work man turned out so great!

Your getting me to like the slips. Be good for my opinels; instead of screwing a clip to my handle. 👍🏼

I gotta try that, thanks!!

I started doing that recently, yeah. Helps a ton
Great video man which leather do you have the best luck with for slips. medium or firm?
Oh I see in the linked leather 8/10 firmness thanks!
looks good to me nice job. where did you get those black snips?
rmleathersupply.com
even the branding you messed up still looks cool...has like a ghost/double vision effect
Kinda does!
Checked out Lancelot leather. You’ve got me thinking of clip slips for my opinels and maybe to remove clip from other knives possibly.
Nice! Yeah I’ve been thinking of one for a fixed blade, maybe my Bradford. I think it would be cool to have it inside my pocket in a clip slip
@@doodysdaggers I put a spyderco g-clip on my Kizer Baby. Been wearing it horizontal right front on belt.
@@andrewfett142 nice I’d like to try one of those
@@doodysdaggers I have couple vids. (Hint hint)😁
Let the glue dry some, until it becomes tacky. Around 3 to 5 minutes. It will not seep out and will stick better
Use a rubber or plastic mallet to prevent maring the ends of your stitching chisels
Great job. try lightly hammering the stitches down. will have them lay flat and fill out hole.
Oh okay I will, thanks!
What thickness leather do you use ?
3.5 - 4 oz usually
@@doodysdaggers Thanks 🙏

Can you make a video on how to wax color a slip case

Nope, I have one here so I’ll be able to size it. You got the wharncliff single blade?
@@doodysdaggers yes I do
