His videos have taught me more than my instructor. 1 teacher for 30 students on different welding lvls so I’m getting the basics from Weld tube. Thanks and keep up the content
I cal mine the test monitor bc teaching isn’t happening 😂 he sits at desk. Says go weld. Looks at are lines at end and says looks good 😂😂 my computer lost its security password to log in to school internet. He said idk 🤷♂️ the high school kids that had welding offered in high-school are helping my old ass. Such a waste of money. I could have bought a welding machine and learned on my own at this rate.
Just discovered you. Love you say Ladies and Gentlemen. I am a woman and don't hear guys acknowledge us that often on "how to do it" videos. They don't get what you get. Women watch cool videos like yours too. Also love your teaching. You are clear thinking, straight talking and obviously, you care that we learn. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
There's a lady welder in my tig class who is awesome. She's been welding way longer, so it's a plus, but I'm not jealous. I learn from her, as I would any other. Rock on welders.
It is not that hard, just keep short arc. Short arc or long arc is your voltage, if you keep it short just like he mention in video "feel" the plate, it means try to keep same short arc thought your weld. First try long arcing on some plate and see how it looks after, than try short arc. You will see "wild" arc and that electricity it is not pointed where you want it to be, than try to keep short arc and you will get smooth arc whitout spater and wildness. I hope my English is correct, sorry if it is not.
I had my son watch your videos and learn from what you do he went from subpar "D" grade in high school welding class to "A" grade level in just a few weeks he had been doing this for almost the whole year and in two weeks went to the top passed in the top two, before your videos he would have passed with a "D" grade, Thanks man your tips made all the difference.
“If you can’t see where you’re going, you’re going to leave yourself behind.” Why was that so deep? lol. I’m definitely becoming a welder now ❤️😭 I love that
Thank you. I been wire welding for years and never really got the hang of stick. My company changed my welder and it was nice just to watch this quick video and translate it to my welds
So, I'm just learning now, borrowing an inverter and just tackling a project for myself, I've come to youtube alot for stuff like this, I am a tradesman but i love to learn and try different things. I have easily watched a couple hours worth of welding videos, electrodes, amps, ac / dc and ofc running beads. Your videos just settled all my anxiety about getting clean welds on my gate, 10/10 my man, great video and very easy to understand you. camera shots showing angle are perfect.
Great tips. Im just staring out. Your tips are clear and very helpful. I was having a lot of trouble seeing ahead of the weld. I wasn't moving with the weld. Looking forward to more practice now that I know what I was doing wrong. 👍
That's common when you first start out. One of the best ways to learn. to move with the weld is when you start and prop yourself up, prop yourself about to where you plan on finishing the weld instead of where you start the weld. Then you can reach back when you start the weld and staying with the weld will he ALOT easyer because your coming back to your most comfortable resting spot. It's much easier to pull back to yourself than it is to push away from yourself when you are trying to stay with the weld.
I've been doing FCAW for a little bit and am just now going to start stick welding. This video is excellently detailed and I'm sure it's going to help a lot. I've found the best thing for me is to admit humility and laugh at my welds, all the while knowing, they WILL eventually get better. It helped me not get frustrated learning FCAW and it will help with this method as well.
You are very professional how you explain this video and very technical. I’ve done a lot of Brazing professional as well but I I need an awesome teacher like your self. Will continue to follow you, i’m very grateful and gratefully for take the time. Thank you may God bless you and your family.
Lock your knees for blood flow is definitely a good tip I just learned from this video. Love welding couldn’t figure out why I sway when I’m in my zone. Thanks for sharing
i remember when i first started learning stick with 6010 i was always sticking the rod or long arcing .. could not get the feed right because i was trying to focus on all variables.. arc length angle travel speed, weave / pattern... and it was too much.. so i bought an old wirefeed and practiced the other variables until they became second nature, didnt have to worry about feeding the filler... then i went back to stick to work on feeding the rod and to my surprise it just clicked... i guess i did it backwards lol.
@@MTFTVlive i sort of stuck just doing very small jobs. for some reason welding an exhaust hanger on the frame of my car proved impossible. i just couldn't get the hanger to stick to the frame. cleaned both surfaces, but the weld would not hold on the frame. it did so on the hanger, but not the frame. both parts are steel. finally took it to a garage. what do you think i did wrong? thanks.
11:48 Me and my son literally shouted "WOAAAHWW" A mixture of wow and ohh 😂. We're learning together. Ive just graduated welding school but havent tried any welding jobs yet. Im 26 and my junior is 7.
Hello, I'm from Brazil, I really like these videos, they just enrich my knowledge about welding, please put subtitles in Portuguese, it would be a little easier. thank you very much
Thank you so much unk I loved your teaching I'm a newbie and have exactly the problems you described I have 3 weeks left to catch up with my classmates nobody understands welding in my house and I feel isolated but thank you for an out welder's combine things not separate them to my brothers and sisters in welding it gets better and it gets fun! You my welding family we got this!
I have to lay a straight bead for a 1g test. I am 62 years old. You taught me to lean on something - anything. I think the view from the helmet probably matters a lot. My Yeswelder helmet has been fine until I had to see the edges of the bevels working on this 1G test. I cradled my right hand using my left hand and lowered my left arm as you do. Thought I was going straight, but when I lifted my helmet, I welded over the edge. A really nice weld, thanks to your stick videos, but over the edge. I am going to get a helmet that provides a better view.
Those Yeswelder true color helmets are fine. Try playing with the shade level, also change the battery from time to time. The Harbor Freight Vulcan ARCSAFE helmets are also quite good--if you can find them.
Today i was practicing running 1G E7018 at 130 amps! I was getting pit holes in the slag itself, but the weld bead was okay & no pits! And there was no spatter! Im using an ole 1974 Lincoln AC 225 AMP "red box"!
Thanks boss easy to understand and very informative I'll be welding on my 07 chevy 1500 z71 classic. Steering idler bracket gusset broke off and I'm broke so I gotta learn on a vivor mma140 @ homedepot $60!
That sounds cold to me. I've heard to start 7018 at 1a per thou of rod diameter, so 125 for a 1/8" rod then adjust. Then go higher amps on thicker base metal for penetration and lower for thinner metal to not burn through. Still working on that here & hope I haven't been misled. lol
I just started taking classes at the adult Ed at the local high school, and the teacher was telling me to do half circle movement. It didn't make sense, and my bead looks terrible because the puddle is all over the place. Is that an actual technique?
My teacher told us theres like motions you have to like circles oe zigzags or c's while making one straight line? Can anyone confirm that or can you go straight and be fine?
My beads have been looking ok, but my biggest problem is keeping my hands steady, especially doing horizontal. How can I get into a good position to keep my hands and body steady?
I have a basic question about stick welding. How is the weld actually made? When you run a bead, is it like using superglue? In other words, does the material in the stick do all of the work and join the two pieces together? Alternatively, in the process of running the bead are the items being welded also melted and fused with material in the bead? If it's the latter, then how do you know how much melting is required to fuse the items together? Is it just practice? Do you "feel" it my monitoring the resistance to the stick on the metal? After all, it seems that too little melting would result in a weak weld, whereas too much would ruin the weld all together.
His videos have taught me more than my instructor. 1 teacher for 30 students on different welding lvls so I’m getting the basics from Weld tube. Thanks and keep up the content

90% of a good weld..is a good machine!
Half moons and no.8 rods work just fine don't forget safety always
How are you making the stacked look? It looks like you’re not manipulating the stick at all and just dragging it.
Wondering same thing
Where did u buy your welding helmet? Looks nice. Is it auto darkening?
Yes.
Do this technique apply to all weld rods?
7018 only, 6010 you have to whip
What welding machine have you used
Great job
When you demonstrate it looks easy. When I have to do it it’s either the
-electrode sticks
-the welds don’t fuse
-I burn through the metal.
