This is LITERALLY the project I'm doing in my Welding II class right now and I'm about to attack this thing with the ferocity of a thousand bulldogs. Thank you, sir.
Update?
@@Ryno0614 I passed with a 7/10
Same 😂
Wait… yall do d1.1 in welding 2? I did mine last year in welding 1
Dude, I am a 70plus year old hillbilly welder and I learned more watching your video than years of many of these RUclips yeehoo's. Thank you very much.
"I learned more watching your video than YEARS!!! of many of these RUclips yeehoo's"
You clearly don't know welding at all... this was for beginners and after many years and you just learning the basics now is crazy. Either you just watching welding videos for fun or you lack basic understanding (probably both). Your comment doesn't add up old man.
I’m a full fledged beginner. I love your videos. You make it look so easy. Thanks
You welcome and keep up the effort! Practice, practice and more practice and you will be a full blown welder soon!
@@weldtubepls do 3/8th plate t joint uphill weld 7018
Yall do d1.1 in welding 2? I did mine last year in welding 1
Great video I'm a 70 year old who learned to weld from my dad on the farm growing up. He was also self taught. After a career with the federal government and Shell Oil Co (OSHA guy), I retired and want to go back to fabricating and repairing farm equipment. Welding isn't like riding a bike. I sometimes feel like I'm starting from scratch, but your videos are very helpful. Thanks!
There is a reason i love watching how the professional welder opens the learning process of how to weld properly, you are the best welder i ever seen on You Tube channel how to do it right from beginning to the end with the same position as to weld, i am a starter a beginner myself i keep on learning from other welder but for you, you emphasized to clean those two metals together this way the weld electrode stick together amazing instructions, and your outfit of welding has plenty of safe guard precaution, usually i never wear long sleeves as a safety measures, beautiful video and thank you for sharing such a professional instructions for beginners, In Thailand say's "Kab koon mack ma" meaning Thank you very much🙏
Rosendo is an awesome welder and teacher! Some guys can weld but not teach so good, Love this guy! 💯💪🏽💎
im starting welding school on July 8th. Looked up some videos and yours were very helpful and full of tips i will need when i start!
I love the videos on the weldtube channel, these videos only further enrich my knowledge in this area of welding
Appreciate you brother!
Im a self taught mig welder, about 1.5 years in. I've done very little stick, and I'm always looking to improve any way I can. I seen your video suggested, and clicked it. Glad I did! I learned more about stick in a few minutes than I have in a year. I like learning the terminology too, root, hot pass etc. Thank you for am awesomely informative video!
WOW! Awesome teaching tool, this was not what I was looking for but answered so many questions as well as showed me how not to blow through the metal. At age 64 this is proof you can teach an old dog new tricks. Thank you for the lesson
From Europe: What a great instructor !
One of the best welding video i have ever seen. Like very well explained.
I never welded before but these videos are super cool and informative, thanks!
Im a welder and love ur videos ,,, ARMY vet. here , keep em comming.😁
Appreciate you and thank you for your service🇺🇸🇺🇸
Bless So glad to see you back. Fr.
John. Thanks 🙏
Appreciate you sir!
These videos are great! I am using this channel as my "RUclips Academy" to learn how to weld. Keep em comin!
I appreceated your tips, so it helped understand the easy method to welding on 1g.
Don't use a landing/root-face on a backing strip; it's a slag-trap. Use a landing/root-face on an open root.
Use some backing strip to make walls on the over-run plate. (If it's an open root, reproduce that also.) Allow at least an inch run-on/run-off. This puts the stops and starts outside the weld area which prevents a large bloom of heat-affected zone, and when cut off gives an instant clean square edge, and a sample that can be macro-etched for inspection.

Very well explained , good video
Very good video. Brought back memories for me. Did this same thing for my first cert test in welding school many year's ago. They x rayed it also
Nice welding table.
I remember learning the vertical three pass bevel with the weave
Back to the roots, 18:04 man, I love it so much!❤
I've been welding on and off for a few years, and have done a few projects, a barn, fences, that sort of thing, and I LOVE 7018s and heavy steel. But one thing I noticed is that sometimes the slag is much harder to chip off, and sometimes it peels right off. Do you happen to know why this might be happening? I'm about to start building a set of cabins, very soon, and in a few days, I'm going to start welding anchor plates, then 4x6 3/8"s wall rectangular tubing columns. Any input would be great!
Hey men your videos help me a lot, today is my test but at that amperage rod is eating the edges, can I lower the amp and have the same beads?
Thank you for your video it's very helpful
Im welder from zambia I love that
GREAT JOB & VID 🧑🏼🏭
Excellent tutorial!
Thanks for yet another great video. I am learning a lot. May I ask, why I have never seen an american with a 3m speedglass with a respirator or similar equipment? You guy always seem to use those cheao Homer Simpson ones? In Northern europe everyone has speedglass.
Good class rosendo
Enjoyed it
Great work sir 👏 😊
Thank you!
Thank you so much sir... I am From Bangladesh... I am a welder...
Gr8 RUclips explained well nice . Thanks for video.
Very good!
really enjoy ur videos man. I'm hoping to start a welding course next month. Just waiting to get accepted onto it and I'll be away. It's basically an intro into the welding business so I will be learning the basics of how to weld Butt, Tee and fillets.
I am alw2ays reading up on the difference with certain welding techniques.
I have a question for u bro if u have a minute.
U have the 1/4" flat bar on the bottom of the 2 3/8" plates but how do u get that off once u have welded them together?
I realise ur teaching us these techniques but surely that would not be used in a real world exp?
Sorry if I sound stupid with this question but I'm wondering what would be used if u were welding parts together on site??
What is the difference btwn F & G? I see a lot of these letters used for certain type of welds. I see 3F or 6G and things like that.
Do u have all this information on ur channel? I'm really new to the channel but I'm enjoying the content very much. I'm learning as I go.
I tried welding for the 1st time recently and I like it.
If anybody in the comments has any hints or tips for me please drop a reply. It would be very much appreciated.
Thanks for the great content man, and thanks in advance to anybody who replies to my questions. I'd appreciate any help u can offer. Trying to learn something new about Welding everyday.. Take it easy.. Salute from Dublin, IRE.
Quick question so how do i know when am i supposed to use a 7018 rod for a root i usually use 6010 for roots, 6013 for fillers, & 7018 for caps but i see here you used 7018 all the way is it because of the huge gap? Or cus of the plate thickness?
First!!! Love my weldtube family!!!
Appreciate you brother!
The head move works well👍🏾
Thank you very much for the lesson is very valuable for me, I sent a big greetings for you apprécier gratings from Ecuador - Sudamericana, I'm sorry for my English is very Bad
Very good explained.
Have you ever demonstrated a T fillet with a backer, suchas would be done on a beam-to-column moment?
The backing plate in this vid made me think of it.
If you’re using backers, you’re doing a groove weld. A fillet should be done in a closed angle with no root opening.
@@HollywoodF1, thanks.
Excelente información maestro saludos cordiales desde Puerto Rico
Gracias! Saludos desde Texas hasta Puerto Rico!
This is what the government schools teach. It is easier and is a full penetration weld for beginners.
They do make ceramic backing strips for a reason. Metal ones of course were the first backing strips.
You can also use a soapstone line to better see where you are welding. And for consistency side marks when welding a tone of short welds.
I'm 64. Had welding in High School but I'm a beginner again.
This man is a beast at welding and I have started a groove with backstrap yesterday and my instructor had told me to do the same as he said the only dofference is the machine set to 145 amps we put ours at 90amps
This guy is running an 1/8" rod. Ur rod size will determine ur amps. Position can slightly alter it as well.
Great post. Thanks!
I'm having a little trouble in class with overhead vertical
6:22 blowing out the flame through the mask😂
I remember when I did this in high school I used 6010 for my root pass. However I also wasn’t using a backing strip so it might have been something a bit different I was doing.
Got into the habit of adding a little "fling" when i brake the arc on 7018 to flick the molten bead off the rod. Well it flung right into my welding bag.. before i knew it it was bellowing smoke an my assignment packet was toast.
Hi Redondo nice informative video learnt a lot thanks
Dozer bucket project .coming up thanks for sharing,,i'll use 6010 and 7018 for cap ..Peace😎
Had a go on the Welding Simulators!
Though I went a little off line in a few tries.
I think that a Stick Welder is much easier than the other types as they use electrodes rather than wire. And you can hold the electrode like a pencil too!
you really don't want to hold them like that. They get extremely hot.
When using a fresh one yes but the remaining 1/3 of it gets really hot so you'll have stop holding it.
good job my friend❤
I did welding my senior year of high school and used a backing strip I did me root and fills different but I think this way is better it didn’t create a mountain like I did 😂
Please help.
What is the plate specification and grade?
😮Great Video 😮
Can you make a video on how to use a 6011 to 6G pipe?
Great job... I would like to know sir, I'm from South Africa and interested in learning there... Do you have boilermaking certificate?
Do tack placement matter on the back bar ?
12.50 in the video you created porosity the reason being you were pulling the weld sometime when pulling rather than pushing you can create porosity if done improperly I’m beginning to learn welding not an expert by no means but that’s one thing my boss told me the other day he said there’s going to be time when you push rather than pull or pull rather than push he said but be careful when pulling cause it can create porosity
Yk what Rodriguez ima calling you out to weld contest, any position!
Waaasup Rosendo!!!
🤙🤙
Por favor hagan un videos explicando como hacer correctamente la soldadura 2g con raiz abierta
Lo pondremos en la lista🙏
how th do you do a restart?
Im starting to weld at adult school and the instructor doesnt learn like you🎉
Can you do a 6010 Uphill T-Joint buddy!!
We will put it on the to do list👍
I’ve lost 7018 18 might be a little bit hot. Just have to see how it flows.
Yeah, this is gonna be one of the many tests that are vocational welding program is going to have us doing
What about the same weld procedure, but using a SA 200 Lincoln Welding Machine ?
Same technique, you would just set your amperage using the gear and fine current levers on the SA-200.
شكرا لك على كل حال
Anytime!
Good job
In you're Root Pass your suppose to grind the top on the root clean so the 2nd pass through can tie in better and it'll help passing a bend test and an x-ray test in he future. This is not a negative comment i just want to help out but everything else in the video is good for beginners.
I Love that
😊😊
Can you do this same welding style but show us in the vertical position
Iv been welding for 9 months, I'm decent but want to get better.i haven't passed overhead yet either
where are you located?
I lean this when i was doing level 2 now am a do level 3 soon
Why are your plates not flat now?
Because the more welds you add the more the material will pull in..... heat causes the material to warp.
Yo Rosendo, you from bmore? The way you say "to" and "do" sounds like bmore accent
This man is the only reason I passed 😅
Hey, that's not fair. Our teacher doesn't allow us to grind our welds to correct high spots lol. She's trying to get us used to strict testing rules. We're allowed a wire wheel, though.
This is what you should as the book says. The majority of welding jobs have a time limit. Most welders don't pay that much mind to Mill scale. The flux on the rod helps take care of it.
What about the back plate.
I gotta get a damn fixture table.. my wife is gonna see the burns on her trunk hood eventually.
Brand new to it.. love your explanations . In school for it now (TSTC) and just bout myself a welder to practice at home. 👍🏿🫡💯
8 months after…. Welcome back
hey, I need info on how to get my certification in Puerto Rico......any info will help ...thanks
There is a welding school in Arroyo, Puerto Rico called Colegio Mayor De Tecnologia. Reach out to them, they should be able to help you with your welding certification👍
Don't get the fascination with 7018 rod. The rods need to be baked, its hard to restart due to the glass ball that forms at the end, and it sticks a lot. 7014 for me.
Que excelente canal
There are a lot of different types tests for welding you wouldn't believe I been there
Good Good 🎉🎉🎉
Watching these welds. Do I need a welding helmet to protect my eyes ???
Yes but that backing plate is welded to your work pieces
Why??
But good for beginners
I took one for our hall 25 yrs ago, there was no backing plate then, took another 10 yrs later, they asked where is backing plate, I politely answered we don't use back plates in the field!
Why cover the root gap
This guy is bad ass
Thank u sir
