- Every year, Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS (BC/EFA) hosts the Broadway Flea Market in the heart of Times Square. You never know what treasures you might find at the dozens of tables or the silent and live auctions. I got the story of how it all began from the man who started it all and I'll share it all with you. PLUS I'll be showing off some of the cool (and odd) flea market finds I've gotten over the years.
🤣🤣🤣🤣 Your enthusiasm for being in the Hall of Fame was so genuine! You are legit!
Hahaha. Yes, sadly very genuine. I'm very proud of my paper sash. 😂
Love this! Thanks for the shout out to the original company of STEEL MAGNOLIAS! They were the first to collect after the show and ALL of those beautiful actresses held out buckets! Rosemary Prinz (M'Lynn) gave a powerful speech after each curtain call that a tremendous impact on the audience and how generously they gave. 💖🌸
Very cool! I was so thrilled when I learned that! Such amazing history. Thanks for watching Richard! We'll have to meet up sometime soon!
So much fun info!! :D And SNAZZY flea finds!!
Thank you Leandra!! ❤❤❤
I love this video! So much history I didn't know - thank you Marc
Thank you!!! ❤❤❤
Awesome! Thanks for the Lights of Broadway shout-out! And I think I've mentioned these before on one of your other videos, but my favorite Flea finds have been a bracelet made from discarded Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark flight cable and a trash can lid dented by James Corden's head and signed by the cast of One Man, Two Guv'nors.
I will always take every chance to shout-out the amazing cards!!! And I have one of the trash can lids too!! ❤
Thank you for the wonderful breakdown!
Thank you for your support as always!! ❤❤❤
This really just shows how you'll take any opportunity to learn and I love it!
I've always wanted to go to the Flea, and hearing you talk about it and your experiences at it have only made me want to go even more. Sadly the stars have not aligned to make that possible yet, but I'm holding out hope it'll happen someday. It was also pretty cool to see the Lights of Broadway cards get a shout out here. Since I'm pretty sure that's the first video of yours I ever saw (and you are right, it is indeed a great one).
PS: *gasp* OH MY GOD THAT PRODUCERS BROOM!!!! That is such an incredible find! I am so amazed and slightly jealous!
PPS: Appreciated that MLP made the cut as one of your many clips this time.
Thank you!! Next year we'll have to get a big group together and all go the Flea!
@@broadwaybyghostlight That would be amazing! If I can finally make it next year I'm gonna hold you to that.
i’m hoping to go to my very first broadway flea soon and this is very helpful. thank you for this video!!
On my yearly calendar. Besides the CDs and books I gather, I always get the hat and tote bag with the year’s logos on it, plus the bundle of DVD record of events (Broadway Backwards, Easter Bonnet, etc.) of the previous year.
I was waiting for a "Once A Year Day" clip from The Pajama Game :)
If the dream ever comes true and I move to New York, I'll for sure have to start attending the flea market.
I've got you covered in the next video that just released!!
@@broadwaybyghostlight (Insert Buddy the Elf clip) "You did it! Congratulations!"
Tyne Daly's Mama Rose was my absolute favorite version. (I later worked on the 2 Return of Cagney & Lacey TV movies. Our t-shirts featured our "insider" slogan: Cagney & Lacey - The Menopause Years. (I really gotta learn to stay on topic better).
Haha. That's amazing!!
Fun and amazing as always
A treasure
I went a few years ago--madhouse
And got an
Avenue. Q. Sneezy coin purse
Pure kitsch
Being stuck in Australia, it kills me that there isn’t more of an online listings opportunity. My absolute holy grails are the David Edward Byrd Window cards from the 2005 Encores season- “Purlie”, “The Apple Tree” and “Tree grows in Brooklyn”. 2005 was their “first card season” and it was a VERY limited print run. I know they exist but not even City Centre seem to hold archives of them - Can anybody #Halp?
I'll keep my eyes open for you!! Have you checked Triton Gallery?
I’d love to get something Great Comet related at the flea market. I know it’s a recent show, but it’s one of the only shows I have officially seen on Broadway.
Something rarer would have to be from the original run of She Loves Me or The Apple Tree because 1. She Loves Me is one of my favorite shows 2. The Apple Tree had Alan Alda in it, whom I now love.
Ooh! I'd love to find things from those two shows! I have a prop soap from the recent revival of She Loves Me and I have a lot of props from Great Comet I'll share in future videos! Thanks for watching!!
