      And I'm proud of you are being able to invest but there's so much going on in the world that I would love to catch one of those things especially to my daughter's grave which Sacrificed her life for the United sthanks but I can't I can barely afford a car it's all right God is good she's been gone almost 4 years now and I have some peace and God is good but this is only for the rich doesn't help me to go see my daughter at the military grave site doesn't help find Missing children choosing that have Cancer doesn't do any of that but it will cloud our skies The One thing I Want To be able to do before I die is to look at a CLEAR Blue sky Not with stuff all in it Amen

      They dont upload real tests because they are so short and unimpressive. They can't just show awkward 30-second flights, so they need to edit them to make it interesting.

      I live near the Marina airport and they routinely do 40-minute test flights (formerly at about 1200 ft but up to 2000 ft altitude now), so enough with the "only 30 second flights" nonsense.

      The US Air Force has one at Edwards AFB, so yeah, it obviously can only fly for 30 seconds. /s

    I've been investing Joby ever since they put their stock on. It finally paid off when they announced their factory site. We will need to have a little patience to have the stock grow on par with their factory's grand opening. Please keep up the good work, Joby.🎉

    Great aircraft for air ambulances. Advantages: 1) Quicker response time due to near immediate ignition (oops, start button) to lift off, 2) quieter

    Yeeeeees!!! Yes yes, finally!! Awesome! Didnt think this day would come so soon! You guys did it, the first real manned test-flight of the big boy e-vtol contendors and were only in 2023. Congrats on beating Lilium to the punch on this one!

    The good thing about the Joby design is that an emergency airframe parachute can be put on the roof and it won't be affected by the rotor blades looks like.

      @askingforafriend6540 it looks more like a fan pushing than a propeller lifting. The battery probably wouldn't last long like that. Maybe 3 minutes tops. I doubt it could lose one motor if it needs so much thrust.

    It’s made to always have a pilot at the controls, correct? Asking for a friend that’s a helicopter pilot….it’s me, I’m the friend.

      It was always designed to be flown by a pilot, but can also be operated remotely (which is what they have done up till now). Yes it will be a piloted air taxi, i cant imagine the regulators ever approving a remotely piloted vehicle carrying passengers. Who would they blame when something goes wrong.

    Delta Airlines has also invested in Joby and they expect to be flying shuttles to the airport from other locations

    Love the baptizing, nice tradition after first solo flight :) Never forget my own but sadly they got forbidden cause some people, not actually there nor understanding the tradition behind it of course, got offended. So now it's not allowed anymore. I hate these times we live in.

    Anyone know if this Joby aircraft can land like a regular aircraft? ie with props forward and coming in at lets say 100 mph? or lets say there's an engine problem, can the aircraft do a flare landing at high speed, ie dive to gain speed and flare right near the landing area?

      I don't think so, but there's enough redundancy in performance that it could fly after loosing an engine - well, technically they're motors.

      Yes - it can be remotely controlled, but is designed first and foremost to be flown from the cockpit.

      The same way a quadcopter does the flight controller changes the individual speeds of the different motors depending on the inputs. They could still use pedals or maybe they can twist the joystick to spin. That would be cool push for direction and twist to spin.

      It doesn't have a rudder, but I believe it does have rudder pedals for yaw control. Probably by selectively tilting some of the rotors.

      @@TheBagOfHolding Agreed - though a time-lapse of it flying in circles over the airport all day would be a bit boring and dizzying, it would be good for them to put out just to have it out there.
      The flight data tracking is public at least.

      @zenithstar11235 it would be newsworthy and a first in history. They could at least shut down all the short seller reports about it being impossible and possibly instantly multiply their price. Long distance foam rc airplane trips get a lot of views and comments, more than joby does. I think they should at least carry 500lbs 20 miles if they can and not edit from takeoff to touchdown.

    What’s the endurance in the hover, and the range/endurance in the cruise? There’s really nothing tricky about making a big multicopter, the critical things are whether it has a useful range and whether it can ever be safe enough to certify for pax.

      ~150 miles range, ~200mph, but you want to spend as little time in hover as you can because the whole point of having the wings is to use them to generate lift.

    The footprint of a Huey but half the pax. Now do failure mode tests, Bird strikes and major power/thrust loss.
    Autorotation isn't your option .

    And a note that yes this will bring jobs to Cincinnati but to a very few this still eliminates the population now maybe what in another 100 years it'll be a just easiest catch in the cab maybe but we gotta be aware of artificial intelligence and we gotta be aware about skies we wanna look at clear blue skies not stuff all in it

    Yes this is huge but it should be huge for everyone not because Mike Duane said it because remembering he just released permission of all those guns and that we have an a gun problem but this airplane cap would be nice but only the rich are gonna be able to afford it and it separates us even more and we got children that have been raped and killed and missing and we can't put money into that and we got home listening to Cincinnati you can't put money into that we got veterans that are still homeless we can't put money into that boom

    will be over sooner than people think. For starters, no one will enjoy buzzing overhead every few minutes, 2nd, as soon as one crashes in populated area, taking off from high scraper, it will be banned in metropolitan areas, so it will disappear from the market.

    If the helicopter exists and it's safe nowadays, and it even can do autorotation, why choose these dangerous concepts with 6 engines? Using blades instead of rotating wings is too much dangerous! This will kill many people!
