    This is something my Dad would have really enjoyed. Many years ago I gave him a "weather station "that went outside a window, it was a piece of crap, but he still wrote down every morning and at night the data. Gave him something to do.
    I can see a real place in the garden for serious gardeners.

    That’s the first time I’ve seen a 360 degrees of your garden, very nice.

    That silly piece of cloth is quite handy if it's put under the battery. Instead of prying tightly packed batteries out, just lift the piece of cloth and the battery is lifted out. I find it helpful at any rate.

      I know that. Even underneath the batteries it was longer than normal.

    Funny you upload this now. I am finally installing my weather station with a friend this weekend. Though we have designed and built the entire system from the PCB board/station code/backend-frontend software. Mine will be the 4th station we have in our system.

    Always fun to find out the specifics of your own garden's microclimate. I've been considering getting one for a while, but the cost just "for fun" has always stopped me. Maybe they'll go on sale again this year and I can potentially justify the purchase. Regardless, seeds and soil are a far more important costs for me -- maybe :)
    Thanks for the entertaining process!

      Thanks. It doesn't calculate degree days but it does graph high and low temps each day so it's easily calculated. Thanks for the suggestion. That's one of the few topics not already on my list of future videos.

    A weather station is the first thing that people put up when they are setting up an off grid cabin in Alaska that's because they don't get wi-fi out there. I have found that my cat is able to predict bad weather before the EMS alerts me of impending doom. She always goes to the basement just prior to the EMS giving me an alert.

    Hello very interesting video. I have bought a similar weather station for the farm in the south of Morocco. The farm is a palm grove . I am wondering where to put the weather station? Shall i put on top of the highest building?.

    • @GardenerScott
      @GardenerScott  10 месяцев назад

      Put it in an open area. The trees may interfere with accurate readings. The top of a building can work.

    • @GardenerScott
      @GardenerScott  Год назад

      I don't know how often, but it is providing near real-time info that can be accessed through the network. I see the other stations in my area with no problem.

    I bought Vevor 7 in 1 weather station, created weatherunderground account and added my station there. I noticed that my station has much higher barometric pressure, than all stations near by me. After consulting with chat gpt, I found there are two different pressures. Absolute pressure that is measured, and relative pressure that is calculated and sent to weather underground.
    Absolute pressure in the same high raised building will be different on ground floor, and on top of the building. Relative pressure should be the same, when high above sea level is taken into calculation. Relative pressure is sent to weather underground, and is more relevant in weather observation.
    So my conclusion: when purchasing and installing new weather station, relative pressure should be calibrated according to how high above sea level station is installed.
    My station is located about 34 m above sea level, but relative pressure was calibrated for 150m high above sea level (from the factory or maybe I calibrated it to that high by accident, not sure).
    In most cases all sensos can be calibrated, but it is optional. Relative barometric pressure should always be calibrated, depending on your location. Relative pressure is what matters, and it changes a lot depending on hight above sea level.

    @Gardener Scott How thick does the tube of the outdoor unit have to be so that it fits well in the attachment of the outdoor unit? I myself have bought an Ambient weather ws-2000 weather station from a US seller on Ebay, and now I am waiting
    that it will arrive in Finland for me! :) While I'm waiting, I'd like to buy a ready-made pipe for attaching the outdoor unit, so I'm asking you how thick it needs to be? Thanks!

    • @GardenerScott
