I bought the pistol bit 2 years ago and excited to get my hands on the E40. I’m buying a new flip over as I’ve fished out of a single the last 4 years. Escape 2000 is the perfect size and not to heavy or bulky to drag. Thanks Alex
@@AlexTimm just hit the shelves here and was able to play with the display. It’s sooo lightweight and well put together. Hurt me to leave it but Black Friday deals are a few weeks away 🎣
I'm a big fan of eskimo, picked up a 450xd, 650xd and 2600 shacks over the last 2 years. Will get that auger once at retail, brilliant with the quick connect, would love to store the power head in the snowmobile chest for travel and saves bringing the extra drill for anchors
Was helpful to see how 2 full size guys fit on the bench of the shack. Cozy but doesn't seem too cramped. Thanks for being first out of the gate with the video about Eskimo's new gear.
You're welcome, thanks for watching! I agree, sometimes seeing how gear is on video in real use and from someone using it can be helpful in deciding if it is right for your needs. 👍👍
I don't think they plan on selling just the power head and charger alone. You could just but the steel 8" and sell the auger bit itself and keep the power head potentially
Man i bet you were wanting to put this video out bad lol!!! Thanls for doing the vid and input on it. Will my pistol bit fit this? I assume there is an adapter eh?
Yes, no joke. It was hard waiting!! I believe the pistol bit will work, but Matt Halverson from Eskimo said it isn't recommended as the aggressiveness of the blades aren't a good match for the gearing on the powerhead. So perhaps while you might be able to, it might not be the best idea. But who am I to tell you not to try it? Haha
Just saw some retailers have free extra battery. I wasn't too interested seeing the price and extra cost of batteries... already have a DeWalt and kdrill, but I'd like a dedicated auger and the free extra battery almost has me ready to jump on this deal.
Now imagine if there is an ice show or holiday sale price on top of it?!?!? (I have no clue if that will happen, but could you imagine?). Either way yes, as I told someone else earlier today, the free battery promo is one of the best ones out there sometimes that is the ice show deal for augers
@AlexTimm I was debating about selling my 40v strikemaster 10" steel and getting an alpha 10" composite last year for the weight savings. But now maybe this will be the one. Especially if the price is right in Canada.
I wear quite a few different pair, the last 2 or so years though when not needing something really heavy I've really enjoyed the ones I have on in this video linked here: at.fish/AUFlGE however it looks like they may be discontinued now (and unfortunately mine ripped on the thumb seam at the end of the season last year, so I'm on the hunt for a new pair)
Only problem with that ice anchor adapter on that big head unit is not being able to see the anchor when your drilling into your tent. It'll take two hands to hold the head unit so just free drilling the anchor with no hands on the anchor could be iffy. I'd rather use a small drill for that.
Valid point, probably need to get it started by hand then the rest of the way with the adapter if going to do it this way. Still no drill to bring though if done this way
I use the same adapter in my Alpha Ion plus, and have never had an issue with drilling the ice anchors down without any issues. I never have to bring my Dewalt out anymore since I got true quick connect and anchor spikes.
Thats actually pretty dope....... an auger that can makes holes and quick disconnect to anchor down stakes... im sold, who wants to buy my 24v strikemaster
To me it looks like its using a regular gearbox like the Eskimo gas auger and not planetary gears like ION. That's probably the sound difference I'm guessing. Got to save money somewhere.
Fair point, more so for a brand new one with the latest and greatest features, weight, warranty. But for sure lots of cheaper ways to accomplish a low effort hole in the ice to your point
Really impressed, I went out just to test the gear, I wasn't paid or given any product or discounts to do it. I specifically make sure all my content is as unbiased and honest as possible, If I was paid or given a unit for a video I would tell you in the video
still makes zero sense to get one of these over a good electric hand drill. Way faster to remove the auger, faster drilling, lighter, and you can use it all year long,, oh and its cheaper.
@@AlexTimmwhat would you say is the best? I'm a decent fisherman, go out maybe one or two times a week. I usually drill 3 holes for me and the girlfriend. Haven't hole hopped much but still in the market for a nice electric auger. Money isn't a problem but the cheapest option in my area is the 40v strike master right now at $680 the e40 steel is $699 with a extra battery i believe it's the steel one which is still lighter than the 40v sm but then of course there's the alpha ion plus at $1199
*What do you think of the new Eskimo E40 Auger and the new gear Eskimo is launching this year?*

I want to winnipeg ice fishing show yesterday bought the e40 8" composite, with 2 batteries can't wait to try it 😊

Heck yeah, you are going to have an insanely nice setup!

I just got on the e40. What a sweet ager.

Heck yeah!
I'm a big eskimo fan myself. I fish out of a 949! I picked up this auger earlier this week and can't wait to try it out.
I just picked on up the other day. I cant wait to get out there this ice szn and play around with it
YES!!!
Good to see some ice fishing!
You got that right! Excited for the ice season!!

I’m impressed with that CForce Touring on tracks! Lol I got a 600 mud machine lol
Love it, they are great machines!
Definitely see the similarities between them and the new ions!! Will probably get an 8” so I don’t have to use my 10” alpha for panfish
I'll be picking up the e40 8 inch composite. I can't wait!
Exactly the one I have scoped out for this year too
Not having my sunglasses on was a miss. Thanks for coming out to try out the gear!
If. You want another product tester I would throw my name in the hat
Haha, yeah it was a bright day for sure! Lots of fun! 🔥🔥🔥
What if you have the pistol bit already and just want the power head
Looks good. Along with my pistol bit it should be great if we can get just the power head n charger
I don't think they plan on selling just the power head and charger alone. You could just but the steel 8" and sell the auger bit itself and keep the power head potentially
Thank you for the good news.
Where is this wonderful place?
👍 A lake in Wisconsin
Wisconsin isn’t ice over yet

What is the difference between the composite and streel
$100 more for the composite. The steel 8" weighs 4 lbs more and the steel 10" weighs 5.3 lbs more than their respective composite
Are you drunk?

Last year bro lol

Yeah, was shot in the late ice season last year and held it to put out until Eskimo announced the new gear
Does the auger take the same batteries as a ion?
No they are different connections

@@charleslefebvre5515I just preordered one in Canada now. Comes with a free extra battery with the pre-order.
@Van020280 that's sweet. where'd you order from? What's the price up here?

R. You in. Wisconsin. Currently
No, this was filmed at the end of last ice season, no ice here yet. I live in Minnesota
@@AlexTimm oh ok

Unfortunately not

Right!?!
Can you just buy the E40 without the auger?
Nope! Unfortunately this isn't an available option. It would be nice if it was though.
Definitely has a different sound to it than the ION.
It does, and it is slower by a bit too, but I would say comparable in speed to the Strikemaster 40v
To me it looks like its using a regular gearbox like the Eskimo gas auger and not planetary gears like ION. That's probably the sound difference I'm guessing. Got to save money somewhere.
@@joshkliniske6766the E-40 sounds like my old SM 24v. That high-pitched drill sound.
Not like the quiet hum of the Alpha.
@Van020280 when I first heard it, it reminded me of my M18 Pistol bit combo.
500 bucks Idk about budget friendly when you can get the older ion models for pretty cheap nowadays
Fair point, more so for a brand new one with the latest and greatest features, weight, warranty. But for sure lots of cheaper ways to accomplish a low effort hole in the ice to your point
