As a retired Marine, I pray for the hero and his family this guy took but I pray for him as I know what it feels like to deal with PTSD. My heart goes out to all involved and may God have mercy on his soul in this life or the next
Between the low volume and terrible speaker, and the biggest, the speaker of the verdict always practice words you are not used to pronouncing. Its sounds like a very incompetent person to be reading in such a big court case.
He asked for it as a hail mary because he knew the jury was already going to vote for death based on the very obvious evidence in the case presented over the course of 2 weeks.
It’s definitely a disease. People who are addicted to, for example, heroin cannot function without it and will do anything to get it. It’s like a cancer…a cancer will do anything and everything to continue. Yes, it’s a choice at the beginning to use a substance, but after using it for a period of time, it gets to a point where it’s not a choice, but your brain is saying you need it to survive.
However many people with cancer engaged in risky behaviors that increased risks of cancer and yet they still chose to engage in those behaviors such as drinking, smoking, unhealthy diet and being overweight. I doubt many choose those risky behaviors with the anticipation, or even belief that they will get cancer just as most people with substance use disorder don’t start using drugs with the anticipation of becoming an addict. In no way does his addiction excuse his actions, but it’s indisputable that drug use physically changes your brain circuits which has rippling effects on the body and brain.
@@jessicawiebrand2503 true. I meant like prostrate, breast cancer etc. some is through the genes but it’s not their choice. Of course others can be things unknown such as pesticides etc.
I wonder if this case will go to the Supreme Court to answer the question “does a jury have to be unanimous to impose the highest punishment in this country?” A jury must be unanimous to convict. I’m asking a purely academic question.
I wonder what the family’s wishes were after hearing his testimony and final statement. He seemed genuinely remorseful and even though that doesn’t bring back their loved one, I wonder if made them hesitate against him being put to death.
This just makes me sad all around. I understand the verdict and I just wish this man had been able to stop his downward spiral at some point because it seems like he has people who love him and had some people who wants to help him. I hope this gives the family peace because they deserve it.
He has automatic appeals...a lot of them. He doesn't gat a choice in appealing it, but the judge still has to officially sentence him to death....it's not ordered until then.
Why? Why just look at color? Pretty prejudicial. That’s why there is a division issue. I refuse to see differences in any race, culture or religion. This cop did nothing to you and neither did the defendant.
The first time I've ever seen a defendant nod his head in agreement with a guilty verdict.

RIGHT..the judge just read it..cant hear shit ughhhh
For such a solemn occasion, the court clerk should have at least been literate. She mispronounced several words while reading the verdict.
.. COURT CLERK NEEDS PRONUNCIATION PRACTICE .. SHE IS TERRIBLE ..

His demeanor suggests that it was his wish that the jury arrived at the decision of the death penalty.
Doubtful
He asked for it so the family could have justice

Drug addiction a Disease? Not sure but either way it’s a choice. He made the first choice to do drugs. Others with day cancer…. Don’t get a choice.

I’m a death penalty proponent but hesitant on this case.

If he was black he wouldn't get all this sympathy. No remorse. They're saying nobody won after the verdict. Well, for blacks, it's two wins.
