I'm 54. This was my very first knife. I'll always have favorite this blade because it was my 1st. Got it on my very 1st hunting trip. My uncle was taken me on my very 1st hunting trip. We was hunting squril and my uncle asked me if I had a knife before we got in the woods. I said no sir I don't. He pulled over to the hardware store and Baught this knife. He said never ever go into the woods without a knife. I'll never forget that time when an eight year old thaught he was a man. I owned the kentucky woods at that time. Thanks for the reminder. God bless
First night I bought back in 1981 at 14 was an Uncle Henry liner lock that looked like a real stag handled Cold Steel Ranch Boss with 440 steel. Great knife I eventually broke the blade prying with it like an idget at 16. Thanks sir for this brought back some good memories.
Awesome video, hello from wallkill ny, I just picked up the uncle henry golden spike on clearance at walmart for $12 buck's, it came with a really nice sheath with a sharpening stone pocket and stone made into the sheath, I thought it was just a cheep knife and case, but to my surprise it's a really nice well made sharp and sturdy hunting knife and quality made and good looking sheath ,I think it will be with me for a long time, if nobody steals it or I don't loose it,lol, I'm really happy with it and can't wait to take it fishing with me and my son , the knife looks and feels great in the hand and will probably have no problem descaling and preping fish for cooking ! 😊 😊
I still have my 90’s Golden Spike. I love that knife.
I have 5 of these blades. I absolutely love this knife. When I was 18 years old I bought my first schrade knife which was the 470T Old Timer. I miss that Knife, lost it! 🤦♂️
I didn't realize they made the 153UH with 1095 blades that long. I thought mine is from the late 70s though I acquired it much later. I remember admiring them in the display cases at seemingly every hardware store and sporting goods department too. Good hard use knife. The sheaths were high quality too. Mine has the sharpening stone pocket.
I have one new and unused in the box but I wanted one I could use. I found one on CL that was sharpened poorly. I bought it and straightened the edge out straight away. I now have my user. 🙂
Thanks for video. I learned I have the older saber blade 153 UH. Real collector Item .
👍🏻👊🏻
I still have my 90's Golden spike too. I have held onto it for 30 plus years...lol
Hang onto it for sure.
Liked the video quite a bit. I'll be watching more as I am a junkie when it comes to the sharp, shiny
Beautiful knife, not many knife companies make them like that anymore
Tired of the antics of ppl these days and can’t conceal carry here in Canada I bought this exact knife today at an army surplus shop. Love the brass detail and sharpener tucked into the leather case. Hopefully I only ever have to use it for opening packages and such and not gut someone like a fish 🤠
My wife bought me one made in America. It was stolen during a move. This year I found one of the last ones made in the Ellensville plant. Bought it to replace the one given time by my wife. Now a valued knife in my collection!
👍🏻👊🏻
I have a golden spike newer I found this video very informative. I have a vintage Uncle Henry pro hunter with the bird head pommel. Can you do a video on that one? 171UH
Thanks a classic looking knife, the scales are beautiful, great performer, looker...wonderful fine Jon.
My dad had this too and I still have his
excellent! I love the 153uh and I can appreciate a well created knife video
Much appreciated.
They were sold at smoky mountain knifeworks for $24.95
I got the schrade USA 153UH no + though. It's gotta be one of the first models
I have a golden spike made in NY USA. Shrade-Walden serial # 00106
Iwas given this knife years ago by my brother in law.
That’s a keeper for sure. Merry Christmas to you.
That was a buck 119 in your picture
mine was passed down to me after my grandfather passed away because i wiukd always admire this knife although its not one of the made in america knives they are still pretty dang goid knives and are a really good value
Great job bro! Keep up the good work!
Thanks! Will do!
ita cool that way back they still only costed 30 dollars now theyre nade in china and for cheaper but its still cool to see that the price of this knife hasnt changed
Thanks for watching.
👍 Nice introduction to this knife. I have the large version of the Old Timer sharp Finger knife and know they are quality blades. I do wish they had stayed away from the fake stage handle, it just looks cheap to me compared to my sharp finger and I believe the handle scales are from the same material.
Good review , thanks for sharing , God bless !
I have one like that but don't know what to sell it for
I bought one today and paid 60 bucks CA, good deal I think…. They roughly 80-155 US on ebay
Nice.
You can get them at Canadian Tire stores. 🍁
Awesome video Jon! I didn't see it 2 weeks ago for some reason.
have you found a 160 yet?
Not sure if you seen them but I just did about 6 videos on my old schrad knives. Check it out
