just gunna gloss over the main mythological purpose of the Centaurs? They were based off raiding parties of the various Steppes peoples. Raiding parties came down from the Steppes for two things, Slaughter and Grape. Lots of Grape. The Centaurs in turn were a way to communicate to everyone. "You see men-horses charging at you, run and hide."
