There really is no limit to how much money you can raise for charity on Twitch.
Last year I watched Pestily play Escape From Tarkov and do charity streams for a few months. He raised something like $1 million + AUD for Starlight Charity. A bunch of other EFT players helped him along as well.
He's a super nice guy. He tells his audience all the time not to send him money.

I would say Twitch streamers are getting paid not just play video games, but more to hang out with people and create a community and be friendly to lonely people who don’t have access to that sort of community in real life.

I think something you should point out is that people shouldn't expect this much from streaming. You already have a social media presence and following which is awesome but this may set people's expectations up too high. I got lucky in my first month of streaming and made payout but many affiliates don't - just something to be aware of
I just want people to be aware that you can be streaming for MONTHS and not make anything because twitch has a $100 minimum payout. I've been streaming for 6 months and yet to have a payout.

I have always wanted to stream, but I'm terrified. Social anxiety makes basic things and hobbies practically impossible sometimes. Do you have any "tips" for that? I've always wanted to stream to make others smile/happy, but have always been putting it off because of said reason...

I started streaming on twitch about 6 months ago during the first UK lockdown. Honestly, its the best decision I've ever made. I've made so many friends and a little money on the side. Also it keeps the boredom at bay

I remember back in 2009/2010 I jad a friend who was like "hey my friends and I have a show about video games, it is on this platform called twitch." I find it interesting that twitch started at a place where people on RUclips were going to do whatever wacky thing they wanted to that the algorithm didn't favor. Now it is a video streaming platform where occasionally you find a person doing a very wacky thing that has nothing to do with gaming.

I'm planning on starting Twitch streaming soon. I've just bought a laptop capable of handling it, and I plan on whiling away a few afternoons each week crafting things and chatting with a very small portion of my RUclips audience, (small number because crafting is unrelated to my RUclips content, crafting is fairly niche on Twitch, and my RUclips is mostly fairly elderly, and unlikely to be on Twitch. Still, will be fun to try.

How many hours did you stream for over that month?
Because £680 for a month is incredibly low as an income. That wouldn't even cover my rent.
What's the hourly pay rate break down to?
Ah! I should’ve included how many hours I streamed !! I completely forgot that’s my fault. I streamed for 26 hours, so it’s around £28 hourly. Obviously a full time streamer would be streaming more than that and so create a greater income. However, being a full time streamer is tricky because it’s difficult to create consistent income - for me though, I’m fortunate that twitch is an incredible second income that allows me to put more money into my RUclips content. I hope this helps!
@@Ellbat Ah I see. Thats actually really good then on average. Thanks. I've been trying to convince my girlfriend to try streaming. She has a mild disability and long work days really grind her down so doing a job from home is ideal and she plays a lot of games as it is. The only thing putting her off is whether or not she can be engaging enough. to keep viewers as shes never trued anything like that before.

*Hands up in class* though when you said full-time streamers have to stream every day, that's not true, wanted to do a comment incase someone took that as fact :S You just have to hit the hours required that doesn't mean every day necessarily and a lot of streamers will recommend you to not stream every day, less is more especially as you are growing so you can make content elsewhere on the internet. Like yourself on RUclips, Tiktok etc etc :)

I dont know if cost of living is just higher where I am but that isn't that much to me. That would just cover living expenses probably with just apartment rent being 740 only water payed.
I'm considering using Twitch to be social and promote my related business. I play games for fun and used to do Unboxings on my YT channel so I could easily schedule that in between online school and PT Work. I have friends that are continuing to pay their rent streaming for a couple hours per week and a little cash to tuck away. I just need to get over my nerves a little.

Twitch stole my 90's username, hacked all of my accounts and closed them down. 6 months later they opened their website. The dirty secrets of the internet revealed, right here, through Elena's video. I'm still fuming over their fame, but whatever. As an artist and writer I am used to this kind of theft and know I have no legal standing.
