I have heard in multiple places that Turkey had worked out a viable treaty between Ukraine and Russia shortly after the initial incursions and that and it was ready for final approval by April of 2022. The US/UK stopped the approval as they wanted the war.
Wtf is with this guy? The Russians just knocked down 5/5 ATACMS missiles. They routinely shoot down 80% of volleys time and time again. There isn't a single NATO air to surface missile system out there that can match those numbers. Individually, and the higher you go in numbers (S400,S500), the systems are light years beyond the western systems. Their integrated air defense 'umbrella' is probably the best in the world. Can Ukraine find holes? Yeah.....obviously. They have 70 or so NATO/US/Western satellites and the entire intel network working for them, and as he said, Russia is massive. The colonel is great. He might be a bit off on a couple of things. I'm thinking of his understating of what Russia was trying to achieve at the onset of the SMO. But overall, his insights are great. Your channel is in my top five!
I fail to see how Russia going in to Ukraine was a tremendous tactical and strategic mistake. The west had pumped up Ukraine to be the best army in Europe, and had to go in with less troops because it was a surprise then. Ukraine was a clear and present danger plus was intentional provoking Russia by mistreating ethnic Russians. That first wave had spectacular success against a much larger and better equipped Ukranian military. To hope the Ukranian govt would respond reasonably to that and negotiate wasn't a mistake. Unlike Ukraine, Russia has contingency plans.
Agree with the Colonel. Going in to the SMO Ukraine had aviation capability far greater than a few F16s will provide. Along with air defense systems. And yet, where are they today? Zelensky is a textbook megalomaniac, who believes the power of America is behind him as he sacrifices the peoples of his nation to his false glory.😢
The Colonel is wrong when he said Russia thought that by "scaring" Ukraine by means of rolling in those tanks and troops into Ukraine, Ukraine would cave in. In fact, Ukraine did by agreeing to sign this agreement in March or April of 2022. However, Boris Johnson, upon orders of DC, flew into Ukraine and told Zelensky, "Don't you dare sign that document!"
It is criminal on the part of Zelensky to continue with the war. Had he been a good leader he would have recognized the military situation as being hopeless, and would have negotiated an agreement. His insistence to continue with the war belies good sense. As Putin said, he is not a Slav. I think Putin is going to take Odessa. And there is nothing Ukraine could do to stop that.
After watching the presidential debate last night, I completely understand why Washington is such a mess. Joe Biden is a complete disaster. This is a big reason why the world is on fire right now.
Can you imagine what effect Russia arming the Houthis in Yemen with Iskander-M and Kinzhal hypersonic missiles could have on shipping in the Red Sea and possibly the impact on the US Navy in the region, let alone the possibilities of the Houthis using those hypersonic missiles against Israeli targets. Kinzhals have a long range.
OMG! "Over the ocean!" The nearest ocean is in France! Black sea is surrounded by land even more than Mediterranean! And to attack the air base from the sea, the missiles had to come at a different angle! There is a cape to the North where Russian air defenses must be (the Crimean peninsula is diamond-shaped), and both Ukraine and the air base are to the North from the attacked beach. If the air base was the target, the missiles had to fly over the land with air defenses, over the air base, and only then strike the beach! Just look at the Google map! The air base could not be the target, because of wrong angle and larger distance. The strike was targeted at some area in the city, in the same way as they were shelling Donetsk and Belgorod! (Well, it's been told that most Americans cannot read the maps)
Thank you for smart and actuality full questions and very clare and profouned answer. Please, make shure to have translation in ucranian language. Big thanks thanks
For F-16s to work you need about 1500 highly trained ground crew to support 24 jets. And you need a pristine runway without even one pebble on it. And you need a reliable and expensive logistics system. Without those in place, F16 pilots do not matter.
"In the coming months, the Biden administration could change course on Ukraine. If the Russians advance in Ukraine, the administration would have two choices: stay the course and increase the risk of Ukrainian losses, or shift from a “for as long as it takes” policy to an approach of “whatever the Ukrainians need to beat the Russians back.” This would potentially increase the risk of escalation with Russia, but it would also deflect the electoral risk of being blamed for the failure of US policy in Ukraine," Andrew A. Michta is senior fellow and director of the Scowcroft Strategy Initiative at the Atlantic Council.
I think the policy is "whatever the Ukrainians need" except the US is not capable of fulfilling that need. Neither is NATO. The West assumed Russia was weak and it was not. Now they cannot afford to let Russia win. What to do,. what to do,....?
Regarding the view of Trump over the war in Ukraine and the "promises" he makes if he'd be elected, let's not forget that most of the situation there was cooked on his watch.
How do you figure? Obama tried to set up Trump with a war in Syria, but Trump was able to extract us from there. Now, under Biden has troops in Syria again. Why? Even our “allies” are attacking our bases there. No wars started under Trump’s watch. Starting wars and destabilizing countries is a democrat thing. There never would have been any of these wars under Trump. Trump will stop the war in Ukraine, but at this time he can only play the cards he has. He can not expect the Russians to give up the ethnically Russian areas in the Ukraine that Russia has captured. Putin does not want to continue war. It is to every ones advantage to stop now. Ukraine can only expect to loose more as the war continues. It is time to stop its losses now.
People who have no idea about language acquisition and learning make such a big deal about the f16 instruments being in English. That is so naive and ignorant. 12 months of highly intensive english instruction in a specialised area is more than enough. I have taught English to Korean pilots for years and language instrumentation is not difficult. Pilots are very intelligent and learn quickly.

In 2022 Russia had limited manpower because by law it couldn't use conscripts. So it made demonstrations around Kiev and east of there, sent forces into the Donbass to protect against a Ukrainian offensive it said was prepared there and sent its main forces to establish the land corridor to Crimea. When there seemed to be an agreement in Istanbul it called the demonstrations back but maintained the defense of Donbass and continued the war north of the Sea of Azov. When Istanbul felled through it lost little and had the time to prepare. It organized referendums in Donbass and later in Kherson and Zaporizhzhia to add them to Russia and so make the use there of conscripts legally possible.

I have heard in multiple places that Turkey had worked out a viable treaty between Ukraine and Russia shortly after the initial incursions and that and it was ready for final approval by April of 2022.
The US/UK stopped the approval as they wanted the war.
All too true!

Of course some are gonna get thru.
How well are those Patriots working?
I'm actually kind of amazed this guy made it anywhere in the military.

Great guest. Very informative, measured and personable.
Sometimes I think that Colonel Daniel L. Davis is often underestimated. But he is a very good analyst and very experienced in combat. I have great respect .

The colonel is great. He might be a bit off on a couple of things. I'm thinking of his understating of what Russia was trying to achieve at the onset of the SMO. But overall, his insights are great. Your channel is in my top five!
Freudian slip, the usa airforce can only attack civilians 😂
I fail to see how Russia going in to Ukraine was a tremendous tactical and strategic mistake. The west had pumped up Ukraine to be the best army in Europe, and had to go in with less troops because it was a surprise then. Ukraine was a clear and present danger plus was intentional provoking Russia by mistreating ethnic Russians. That first wave had spectacular success against a much larger and better equipped Ukranian military. To hope the Ukranian govt would respond reasonably to that and negotiate wasn't a mistake. Unlike Ukraine, Russia has contingency plans.
Russia had no choice.

"Warhead event". Sounds like a line from the film Fail Safe.
Putin should have a referendum asking what the Russian citizens want as a response to the beach attack.
No, Russia is not bluffing - it is losing the war for real.
After watching the presidential debate last night, I completely understand why Washington is such a mess. Joe Biden is a complete disaster. This is a big reason why the world is on fire right now.
America gamble all of our life’s , I don’t believe the explanation about some fictional interception , it was a textbook hit !
Russia should stop the baby talk with the U.S.A.

Lt. Col. Davis 🎉
Thanks Gentlemen.
For F-16s to work you need about 1500 highly trained ground crew to support 24 jets. And you need a pristine runway without even one pebble on it. And you need a reliable and expensive logistics system. Without those in place, F16 pilots do not matter.
We are running out of room to escalate this further
I don’t think Iran and n Korea are paying any attention to America now , or anyone else , Davis still lives in the Iraq war
"In the coming months, the Biden administration could change course on Ukraine. If the Russians advance in Ukraine, the administration would have two choices: stay the course and increase the risk of Ukrainian losses, or shift from a “for as long as it takes” policy to an approach of “whatever the Ukrainians need to beat the Russians back.” This would potentially increase the risk of escalation with Russia, but it would also deflect the electoral risk of being blamed for the failure of US policy in Ukraine,"
Andrew A. Michta is senior fellow and director of the Scowcroft Strategy Initiative at the Atlantic Council.
we can see here it isn't just Biden who has a deceased brain. There are others too, paid to be stupid.
I think the policy is "whatever the Ukrainians need" except the US is not capable of fulfilling that need. Neither is NATO. The West assumed Russia was weak and it was not. Now they cannot afford to let Russia win. What to do,. what to do,....?
Thank you Col. Daniel Davis, very interesting analysis and explanations of the different situations ✌
Wasn't not trump that armed Ukraine?. Trump supporters want us to forget that
I Pray Thing's Get A Million Times Worse For America 🇺🇸👀🍺🍺🍺🤠🇨🇦🌍

Ukraine probably doesn't have 12 months. And remember it's 12 months + the six minimum months to learn to fly the plane itself. ...
I don't care for this guest. I will take a pass anytime you have him on. He is not very well informed and is a Russophobe. I have heard him on the Duran and it pains him to say anything positive about Russia when it goes against the narrative of the US.

Russia has attacked drones and American UAVs in the Black Sea skies.
The for profit defense industry has done the US taxpayer a disservice by providing weapons that are incredibly complex, individually very highly priced, and unproven against equal opposition and built on a cost plus profit basis. Like fighter jet pilots require highly trained operators to function property.
It should be noted that with the advent of AI and drone technology, the carrier task force and the fighter jets it carries are on the verge of becoming obsolete.
A.I. controls the flight path of current made Russian hyper-sonic missiles....impossible to shoot down
@@sonnyeastham Agreed... AI will replace the "top gun" pilots that take years to train. An AI jet fighter coordinated swarm can be more daring than human piloted planes because loss is just so much software and hardware..

The US government just authorized American contractors in Ukraine. That allows American pilots.
