I agree. Shows trash. But The treatment of female characters is a reach tbh. She’s just one note like the rest of the characters. I don’t think she’s a reflection of anything other than the plot. Whatever they need her to do, she does. The women in this show aren’t treated any differently than any other lol people are reading too far into it without taking into context their time period and world. Women are allowed to be happy being domestic and selfless for their starving family. It isn’t a negative trait. If anything nezuko is a great depiction of a puppy/dog. Protects her household, comes with a muzzle, likes head pats, bites strangers, sleeps half the damn show and drools when she sees fresh meat
They explain through several characters that his kindness is dangerous. Urokodaki basically tells him that his kind nature is gonna get himself and his sister killed. Giyu tells him when they first meet that he needs to stand up for himself and the people he cares about. And Giyu screams like that because he sees his past weakness in Tanjiro. And comparing him to naruto just kinda seems to show you don’t really understand either characters
My prediction would be that Nezuko's big character arc over the course of the series will be achieving agency as she regains her humanity, sorta a metaphor for the advancement of women's rights.
You should change the title into "first impression" instead of the click bait title. It's giving me the expectation of listening to someone who have finished watching it and review the show as a whole. I'm also strongly suggest you to watch a show to get the feel of it until you wanted to talk about it. It's a really solid show that able to reminded me of how i love anime in the first place.

I mean for a person who really likes the anime I would say I also kinda agree on your opinion on both episode 1 and episode 2 since at first I was also frustrated that at first Nezuko lost the ability to speak unlike other demons cause they can speak normally, and the fact that you consider tanjiro's only flaw is being too kind, even tho kinda has character development on other episodes where he would not hesitate to cut a demons head off, it sometimes annoys me that everytime a demon looks at tanjiro (happens alot on other episodes) they would say like "oh his gaze looks warm" or "his hands is so peaceful and warm" 94 their problems just disappear when tanjiro comes in, I mean I could understand that he is supposed to be portrayed as a good and kind person, it sometimes gives off the vibe as a badass protagonist you know. And a bit of a spoiler but in the manga it's kinda annoying that every strong demon slayer has kinda the same backstory, either their loved ones got killed by a demon or their family 😑
The anime has its flaws but nonetheless I just I came to enjoy it somehow and I understand if u won't continue it and it's OK, just giving my honest opinions on some of the shows flaws

If you don’t think the show is trash why say that in the title except for clickbait? Honestly I think the first two episodes are really strong in terms of character. Giyu and his whole speech is really powerful because on the outside he seems so cold, but on the inside he deeply empathizes with tanjiro and just can’t show it. Tanjiro is a great character from the jump. His character flaw is that he’s too kind, and that IS a bad thing, and his journey is finding a balance between his kind nature, and the harsh world he lives in. People’s real life character flaws often are a too much of a good thing type thing. Katara in Avatar is a character who’s too caring and THATS her flaw and that’s not an issue. The thing with the demon that he was too kind to finish off showed him that his kind nature is bad. It would have been more merciful for him to finish it off and he ends up learning from that LATER

Honestly, I was going to write "Mediocre" but I was worried that people don't know what that means lmao Actually, if you rewatch Tomioka's speech in the first episode it's not consistent-- he was cool on the outside *and* the inside, but hot-headed only on the outside. I could guess that he might get more consistent as the show goes on; it's common for characters to be inconsistent within the first few episodes as the author gets a handle on writing them. But in terms of the first episode, what you're saying isn't communicated. Again, maybe later, but not now. And you're right that you could argue that being too kind is *dangerous*, but that's not the same as being *bad*. As for Katara, I'd argue that her flaw is allowing her emotions to control her, not being too caring; she learns to balance that as the show goes on, which is good. Anyway, thanks for the input!
