My theory about the color perception thing is that it’s related to recognizing objects in different lighting. If you saw colors as they actually look (like color-picked), then you might think the same object in different lighting is a completely different object. So perhaps it’s actually very adaptive to not be able to see the colors lol A trick I use to look at colors is by looking at a very small spot to isolate it. Maybe that’ll help 🤷‍♀️ But anyway, I think she turned out very well~~ The ambiance is very niceeeeee

A plothole I realised, Shinso said the reason he's not in hero coarse is because his quirk has no effect on robots which makes him fail the test. Yet, there are students in the hero course who's quicks too have no effect on robots, yet they are in the hero course.

I have a mm romance short story I'm writing for an anthology. One of the main characters is Hmong. I'm not Hmong, but I'm a teacher at a school with a large Hmong population. I'm also the advisor for a K-Pop dance club, and the majority of the members are Hmong. I've been around them for two years, and I've learned quite a bit about the culture. I feel confident that in a short story I can write the character, with a few pieces of their culture, as just a person but not written white with a different ethnicity (I've seen this in mm romance, where it's basically like a straight couple, they are just both men, and it's obvious, and doesn't work for me.) I even went as far as learning some Hmong, chose a name that is appropriate (his place holder name is Kim Pha). It's important to have diversity, but not for the sake of diversity. I didn't place him there because he's Hmong, I placed him there as a person first, outlined the story, and then thought I want to make him Hmong because I've learned so much and I want to put what I learned into practice. The novel I have coming out this year I have a minor character Mai Ishii, who is a real estate agent and colleague of another character. It's mentioned she plays the cello, wrote a book about succeeding in a male dominated world, and studied ballet. We learn she's friendly and a kind person. Nothing about her being Asian is discussed. The only indicator is her name. I always want to be aware of the characters who are not like me when I write them, and I think I did well with her. My 3rd book in the works the MC is Hispanic. He's also a landscaper (Not a gardener, he is talented in a lot of aspects here) and I did get some senstitivity readers to read over some of this (He's introduced in the first book) and it went over well. So far, I'm happy.

I love the fact that you mentioned casual representation, as someone who lived in the ghetto for 3 years that is just common sense to me. Sometimes these Identities have more to do with setting than anything. Like in a story set around New York City there may be a lot of Secular Jewish characters,in a story set in rural Texas or Minesota there might be Racism and Homophobia against not straight white characters, in a story set in In Italy most people will be Italian.

In my story, the main character is chinese, he utilizes fireworks to fight. I've been trying my best to understand how to write him better, and I've learned a lot about chinese culture and traditions and wish to make him as best i can as to not accidentally make something upsetting

so my character is in a fantasy world that is like a futuristic earth with magic in it and he is mixed between the countries that were original their variant of Norway, South Korea and Japan. so his name is Fynnar which is based on the old nordic word for ice, which has to do with his family's powers and his name in Korean would be Sunghoon and in Japanese would be Yuki, I don't exactly have a use for this yet but it was a lot of fun researching these names! I love watching videos like these aswell and getting different imputs to how I can better write this character, tho it's hard to base these fantasy cultures on existing cultures on our planet, it's very interesting to do all this research! For the record I am a white European person, so there's a lot I don't know about certain cultures. Also I absolutely adore character creation and as a diverse person myself love incorporating diversity into my books.
