Probably their scattering when charging, I think that needs to be tidied up with and AI tweak. From a player perspective you have to keep it in mind when fighting blobs
As a spear, I like the Myrmillones for the high burst potential and great movement speed. I can usually get about 500-600 leadership worth from them in games just because of their strong engagement. Feels real solid and is one of my favorite units now.
Some gate doors can be "defended" by putting fortebraccios lile how you did with the palace guards, their pikes will clip through the door and harm the melee heroes that went to destroy it, it works better with maps that have smaller gates like that of allenburg
@@KnightStalker I at first noticed it by using landsharks in reginopolis, I braced them right in front of the door of the under passage that leads to B, because no one went there to check, the enemy was hitting the door so I wanted to charge in the moment the door broke but, it resulted in the enemy being hit by the harberds so then I thought, what if I tried it with fortes and that led to discovering that pikes clip through walls and other objects, if those things are thin enough they will also hit whatever is behind
have you considered making a video classifying weapon classes based on what family member they represent? like, cool uncle for glaive, dad for longsword, masochistic misandric aunt for shortsword, etc.

Filtering, a directional mic and a quiet keyboard :) Also, the blue walls are 100mm thick accoustic baffles that kill sound. Sometimes you can hear it but I try not to have it in there

I've used myrmillones since they released not sure what veterancy to go yet previously went bottom I tried top but it doesn't feel right as they have little to no armor points and palace guards feel damaging but not enough to kill really maybe I'm playing them wrong idk
The charge one makes them do massive damage but the defence one allows them to take extreme punishment - both are fine as a selection. Their toughness comes from their shield, not their armor and are very very tanky - never judge a unit until it is max level. The general idea with palace guards is either charge or walk them in and brace. Wait until the brace is finished, use the shield bash and pull back. Rinse, repeat.
Myrmillones work well with fortes, better than ISG's as they have a more active knocback. You should call them Murmillies or Murmies :D The Palace Guards charge is pretty good for killing cavalry and breaking shields, you can use the charge after you use the brace and shield bash for a bit of burst damage. 9:33 Odins Charge (Berserkers charge abilities) doesnt actually break block but instead simulates the effects without actually reducing block. They do need some kind of nerf without making them useless, you could make it so every 2nd or 3rd frenzy the unit takes 15% or 20% more damage, also maybe increase the damage they take from heroes. 11:07 it is indeed lame to do that, but its a common thing to do and you want to have a person back there for that reason. 11:45 more got hit but they heal in formation so it only looked like 2 took damage. 12:38 just like Dark Souls do not panic roll as that depletes your stamina VERY fast. 13:53 I think that was an axe raider by looking at the enemies units when you pressed tab a few seconds before. 15:40 village watchmen XD. I do enjoy watching your battles KnightStalker, a good change of pace from the battles where I train newbies.
Poleaxe's Halberdiers thrust has some brutal bleed and block break, its fun to hit a unit of Greyhairs with it and see all the red numbers pop up. The Poleaxe is overall pretty lethal right now. You want to roll a bit in unit battles generally to the left right and back. Paying attention to a troublesome units abilities can help alot, for example if you see a unit of palace guards activate the crouch and shield bash you can now sweep in and kill them (depending on what unit you have) or if you see grenades explode and a few seconds later you see a unit of shenji's you can then infer that they dont have their grenade toss up to stop you from reaching them. You can apply that in all situations from Hero vs Hero to large scale battles. And a quick reminder that losing units is part of the game, keeping a unit of Palace guard out of a major team push simply because you know you'll most likely lose some models is bad gameplay.
at 15:40 you can really see how attires can change how people react, it mainly works with pikes and ranged as they all have similar animations and similar abilities. I can't tell you how many times I've had a heart attack thinking that I got flanked by Walkies or Prefecture pikemen.

Yeah I love the palace guards first purp unit and first maxed I did same route on veterancy and today I got so damn lucky I was bored so I made two mauld both came out purp so I tried pike got blue and then got a legendary long sword great day lol 😌
Mauls make great paperweights, or potentially good for putting on top of your rubbish bin to keep critters out of it. The longsword is your best roll, which is appropriate :)

It's not worth it, frankly. Because you cant roll and reroll purple armor schematics dozens of times due to their rarity, you'll never get a set with say, full leadership or any other stat you are hoping to maximise. Added to that the basic guardsmen set bonus is probably better than the imperial knight set bonus.
I think bottom line is pretty much the ONLY way to go with these guys. I remember reading the Unit Guide about them and what stuck with me most is it said "These are not hack-and-slash units, they are defend-to-the-death units". That says their specialty is absorbing punishment, which means the proper way to use them is to make them tanky as all hell.
I'm playing both and I'm not sure. I am finding it hard to make a decision either way! What it probably comes down to is, if I want a charge infantry unit, there are better ones - but, if I want a damage sponge... these guys are serious contenders!
There are two types of imperial guards - spear and pike. Spear are top tier, pike was not rated low, it was rated as a specialist unit for dealing with cav. Spears go bottom line, pikes are fine with either but i probably prefer the line with survivability for more cycles.
Myrmis are so fun to play they kinda feel like huskarls but with more defence and obviously only one charge. Another thing I noticed is they should make a better X, V on them which would make them way better in sustained combat. PS.: And why you don't use heal button?
Yeah they have no micro potential due to how they scatter widely before taking an action like attack or reform. Because they self heal and I can longsword heal I can heal them reletively quickly and I typically save the heal button for when they are actively being attacked
Myrms are definitely not weak. Most people dont use shields and I would guess that means they don't know how to use them well due to lack of practice. This unit has huge utility.
Why does it feels like the new shield unit's model are smaller than Imperial spear? Even though they are only 4 model less, the shield formation looks like it doesn't cover enough space to me

Today as a new player, I learned how to roll.
Interesting fact for you: Not all classes have a roll. Some have a shuffle, others a hop and others again a short dash :)
I didnt even know, I went from longbow to spear, which has a dedicated roll ability and when others rolled I just assumed that is was an ability.

Berserkers are already for fools. That's why I only play the Huskarls because they're really good at killing the Berserkers. Or Prefecture pikemen.

No ironsides, all damage doctrines. The unit is exclusively about dat juicy burst damage

In short, it doesn't. But they are distictly different to other shields. They are more like prefecture pikes charge with a shielded recovery.
