the most underrated artists in the history of modern music...she is the creator of an entire genre, the gothic or dark music, the mother of souixie, evanescence and all that came after her
@Captain Cookaburra wow lucky you for being at those times and places...hidden behind a pillar'??? jajajaja very nico...and yeah her last rock two albums were not as good as the previous but I like i anyway...thank for sharing this
@Captain Cookaburra there is a remastered album here in ytb called Frozen Warnings that brings alternate version, unreleased songs from her two first albums, demos etc, it´s a great material unknown
After recently watching the "Nico, 1988" film, I went and searched out every live recording of her I could get my hands on. Yes, she certainly seems to have "something" (eyes??). Listened to a bit of Souixie at one point but couldn't seem to get into it. That damn Warhol never produced that much that interested me, but he sure seemed good at finding some.
Together with John Cale, who produced and arranged (composed and played all instruments, apart from Nico's harmonium) those seminal albums The Marble Index, Desertshore and The End!
Excellente cette artiste ,je ne savais pas j'adore ce style entre Patti Smith et Marianne Faithfull (et maman d'Ari Boulogne ) je l'a découvre seulement maintenant -( RIP ) Nico et son fils Ari
One of the most authentic and beautiful artists of all time. She never got old and turned into some sort of over-decorated homogenous living Saint like Patti Smith or Joni mitchell. She was always on the fringes and that's where she thrived. She was not without flaws but it's what made her genuine. Rock and Roll Hall of Fame a stroke fest and a farce that does not deserve her.

Absolutely unbelievable new secret unearthed! Thank you so much for sharing this. Very good sound, too!!! I love Nico since I first heard her in the 1980s. Saw her live several times in Berlin until she passed away. She is underestimated because she was a model and later a junkie. But it takes a lot of talent and courage to play strange music solo in NYC with a harmonium in 1968! I hope her talent will be more widely recognized in the future. I know, I preach to the believers...
For me, the songs with only Nico and the harmonium are, as always, timeless. The songs with the band backing sound kind of dated to me, at least the synth. Not the notes James Young plays, but much of the sound of any 80s synth. But then I've heard their concert recordings hundreds of times, maybe I'm just tired of them for now.

Yes; the first version I uploaded here had very low audio, which spoilt it. As well as making it louder, I corrected other audio defects and brightened up the visuals.
@@GazelyGaze You couldn't do anything about the timbre. Contains few high tones and many low tones. I was able to improve it somewhat with Audi Cleaning Lab.
@@cazkasjmirAah; well you did far more sophisticated work on it. I just made it more listenable and watchable - the complaints on the old version were people saying they couldn't hear it or even see it properly! I just used the basic tools in Audacity, and adjusted the video in Filmora; I'm not a specialist in either.
@@GazelyGaze Hi. I haven't changed the picture, but I have changed the sound. I can send it to you if you want. I saw her live once in the Netherlands. I also made audio recordings of that. But the recordings were not good due to the automatic volume control. One song still goes. Eulogy to Lenny Bruce.

Exactly. Thank you for nailing it.
'Janitor of Lunacy' is like siren song from the dark hinterland of high art..
At 18:50. Lyrics:
Janitor of lunacy
Paralyze my infancy
Petrify the empty cradle
Bring hope to them and me
Janitor of tyranny
Testify my vanity
Mortalize my memory
Deceive the devil's deed
Tolerate my jealousy
Recognize the desperate need
Janitor of lunacy
Identify my destiny
Revive the living dream
Forgive their begging scream
Seal the giving of their seed
Disease the breathing grief
Unique.

This is fantastic, thank you. Nico Forever 🙏
Yes yes yes.
Beautiful. really showcases her vocals
My two favorite songs in sequence: My Heart Is Empty and Purple Lips.
Yes, those are wonderful. Good chap.
Thank you so much for this. I've only really become a fan over the last year or so.
Such a genuinely underappreciated artist and misunderstood person.

She was adorable here
Even though you can see how badly heroin had ravaged her, when she performs "Janitor of Lunacy" and "Kőnig" she still sounds amazing.
Oh this is greatly improved! Thanks so much!
You're welcome! It deserved the upgrade.
Thank you so much for this, it is much appreciated!
I guess James, Toby and the rest did not realise they were making great art at the time - and history.
Thanks so much still as inspirational today as she was back then❤️
fantastic, thank you

Most 80's synths sound very annoying!
Timeless timeless timeless. Oui.
this live version for me is same as the original. Nico never sounds the same. Always reinvents her songs. This is the experiment of art music...

And where will she go and what shall she do , l d feel except on studio album she said always "what shall she go" and not "do"
