  • Thanks to Magicycle for providing the two Jaguarundi's for our trip!
    We rode the Peninsula State Park in Fish Creek. (Door County), Wisconsin and really enjoyed it. The water flies were hatching when we were there and really made it difficult at times. We stayed "under 15 mph" as regulated. While some websites said, "No Ebikes", almost everyone we saw there were on either their own ebikes or rented ebikes! We rode around 27 miles!
    Check out my new "blog" website that has a list of everything in this description (and more) for my recommendations of accessories and products. Affiliate links help my channel. Thanks!

    Like the area you’re riding through, around here the streets are dangerous cause nobody pays attention that much. Out riding earlier to pick up some Copenhagen snuff, and was asked by two different guys about my bike. The price of it, where I got it and made them both watch this video. Ah, the day of my workless life………PRICELESS.

    In Europe we occasionally ride on dirt trails with quite narrow tires. Have not been a problem for us. Most of the places we ride are paved in Europe.
    Have ridden a lot on gravel near our house with 2 inch tires. It is hard when it is loose (freshly bladed). But very doable.
    We live in South Dakota and a lot of the roads are gravel.
    Until 1 year ago our house was on one of the gravel roads. Luckily a short distance to a paved road. Paved road is much better on your teeth.

    Another great Door County Video Russ! There is a really great outdoor play house there in the state park too. If you are ever there during the season you should take in a play. Also we have been seeing more and more e-bikes in that area, especially around the state park. We will be there in late June through the week of the 4th of July. It can get crowded but the holiday is such a fun time to be there. Each little town has a fireworks show and a parade. It’s a blast!

    Hi Russ, another fun/good video to watch. On Mothers' Day my son and I went out riding, I rode for 39 km and I still had 2/5 battery bars left only using the thumb throttle. It was so hot with temps in the 80's I got so sun burnt coz I was wearing a tank top shirt. My arms/ back and neck got super sun burnt with a nasty heat rash on my arms. I got a cream from the pharmacist but wow is the rash ever so itchy, sure looking forward till it's gone lol :)
    I still find it weird that I get more range if I thumb throttle and ride 20 km/hr ave, it may not be fast, but I get about 13.5 km range.

    Occasionally a trail like this is fun and interesting. Since I have ridden a lot on gravel it does not scare me. We have ridden with others who are very uncomfortable on gravel trails.
    One thing I can say is make sure you are not going too slow that is when you often fall. That does not mean go 30 miles an hour on a gravel road. Just don’t go so slow that you fall.
    When you are on gravel or dirt, ride strong you will be fine.

    I have similar trails just outside my door. A couple of weeks ago, I was riding along and my front tire kicked up a little stick which went through the spokes and jammed with the forks. I was down before I could blink. Fortunately I was going slow and the ground was forgiving.

    I think there are basically no ebike rules, regardless of what are technically the rules. If they are even there, it’s hard to know. If you don’t go crazy, nothing will happen, anyway. I ride an EUC which can be illegally operated (it’ll go 40 mph, over 25 is illegal), but I rarely do, and because I keep it respectful, police don’t care and people mostly just want to chat about it. I’ve had precisely one person raise any fuss, and he’s a legitimately crazy person who is off the streets again, so I don’t have to worry about him.
    Nice seeing you on trails. They’ve kept some here even in tight development, and it’s nice to pretend like you’re in the middle of nowhere, even if there are tens of thousands of houses 500 feet over. I like the gravel/dirt sections, keeps it interesting and road bike free.

    We ride pretty long distances on loose gravel or grassy paths. Love the 4" wide tires on our Ocelot Pros on those trails. One thing I hate about the gravel trails is that when we get home the bikes are absolutely filthy. Still figuring out the best way to clean them, especially the chain and derailers.

    • @EBikes420
      @EBikes420 Год назад +2

      You can use dish soap and water with a light cloth. This is what I've been using ever since I bought my E Bike. I wash my bike every few days to keep it looking like new :)

    • @Joerides7
      @Joerides7 Год назад +1

      I use a chain cleaner for the chain. I run it the first time through with a bio-safe degreaser, then run it a second time with hot water and Dawn detergent. For the bike, I use warm water & car wash soap and I have a set of soft car wash brushes that help me get into the nooks and crannies of the bike frame, wheels, spokes, etc. I have a compressor and I use a blow gun to blow off the water, especially in the drivetrain and chain.

    • @Joerides7
      @Joerides7 Год назад +3

      You don't have to degrease the chain for every ride obviously. Just when it gets really dirty/grungy. I'd say I only average once per month on my everyday bike, less often on my part-time bikes.

    Thanks for the great content. I love your channel. I have a dumb question: if you ride somewhere restricted to a certain class, do authorities check the computer of the bike to see if it's unlocked to a higher class (if you are asked to pull over), or is it enough to just obey the speed restrictions? Also, do you think an Ocelot Pro with its 20" wheels is okay for light off road use? Thanks!

    • @RussIsRight
      @RussIsRight  Год назад +1

      Never been stopped by the police, so I don't know... but I don't think they know enough about where to look on the display screen to check the speed on the menu system. Besides, so many different bikes with different ways to unlock the speed on the various menus... how could they keep up with that? And yes, the Ocelot can do light off road riding no problem.
