Throwing acid to someone's face is an unforgivable and a horrendous crime. The face burns and the skin begins to melt like the wax of a burning candle. There were people around her standing away and watching her cry and scream in pain. But nobody came forward instantly. The pain she goes through when she undergoes her medical treatment, the horror her parents face when they see their daughter's face scarred is something I pray nobody faces ever. She herself gets horrified when she sees herself for the first time after the attack. When two people went to file a case against the culprit, IRONICALLY a lady DSP says "Poora phone ladko se bhara hai". It's disgusting how people judge the character of a person by these petty things. Later she says "Pehle case to banne dijiye madam". Judiciary for you all! The attack did not just harm her physically but she was emotionally traumatized as well. "Naak nahi hai, kaan nahi hai, jhumke kaha latkaungi?" she says. She secluded herself from the society. Kids used to get scared by just merely seeing her face, as if they had seen a ghost. But she had to fight for justice. And Malti fought for justice, Sessions Court, High Court, Supreme Court...she knew she would not stop before getting justice. "Agar acid bikta hai nahi, milta bhi nahi to koi phekta bhi nahi" She knew she wasn't the only one who faced this trauma. She had decided to support all those who went through this heinous crime and got a support in Amol. Malti found her happiness in attempting to stop acid attacks... The acid scarred her face, not her spirit.

Throwing acid to someone's face is an unforgivable and a horrendous crime. The face burns and the skin begins to melt like the wax of a burning candle. There were people around her standing away and watching her cry and scream in pain. But nobody came forward instantly.
The pain she goes through when she undergoes her medical treatment, the horror her parents face when they see their daughter's face scarred is something I pray nobody faces ever. She herself gets horrified when she sees herself for the first time after the attack.
When two people went to file a case against the culprit, IRONICALLY a lady DSP says "Poora phone ladko se bhara hai". It's disgusting how people judge the character of a person by these petty things. Later she says "Pehle case to banne dijiye madam". Judiciary for you all!
The attack did not just harm her physically but she was emotionally traumatized as well. "Naak nahi hai, kaan nahi hai, jhumke kaha latkaungi?" she says.
She secluded herself from the society. Kids used to get scared by just merely seeing her face, as if they had seen a ghost. But she had to fight for justice.
And Malti fought for justice, Sessions Court, High Court, Supreme Court...she knew she would not stop before getting justice.
"Agar acid bikta hai nahi, milta bhi nahi to koi phekta bhi nahi"
She knew she wasn't the only one who faced this trauma. She had decided to support all those who went through this heinous crime and got a support in Amol.
Malti found her happiness in attempting to stop acid attacks... The acid scarred her face, not her spirit.

Just saw this film today and was crying throughout its entirety...completely compelling filmmaking at its finest with an absolutely astounding heart-felt performance rendered by Deepika...I totally related to her character's isolation which is exactly the same for Domestic Violence Survivors, as I am a Domestic Violence Survivor.

So her performance was the best on the basis of playing a living character that needs to be appreciated.
