It’s all the flagship technology with an even lighter weight diaphragm in a little package. Think the customer who wanted a pair of 3.7i or 20.7 but didn’t have the space.
My concern about this model is if I buy it for $7500, am I paying a premium because it was also designed for Home Theater. I only listen to 2 channel! Is this why the price is so expensive because of the R&D to make it work properly for both?
So why would the price of this be $1000-$1500 more than the larger 2.7i that uses the exact same ribbon tweeter. Very hard to understand that price point!
This is pure speculation, but my guess is that development of these as on wall speakers, if done well, required more development work to get right. I suspect the 2.7i could heavily leverage existing work and was more of a decision to simply package/ship something in those dimensions.
Gotta listen. I haven't heard these yet, but the best home theater sound I've ever heard was with my big Maggies (Tympanis) at home -- and I was working in motion picture post production at the time, and heard the original masters in the mixing theater. Hope these are as good!
Seems like Magnepan is losing their way a bit. No one's putting that in their home theater. Looks awful and 7.5k for those little things is dumb. How about a 1.7 XI (or whatever) with the ribbon tweeter for 5K? That would be interesting, not this stuff. Wendell where did you go? Don't turn Magnepan into Magico...
That's right, where is the bass module? The one that you called Ultra Wide Band Bass System.
Projected 7500 for that little speaker is a bit steep.

I paid $1200 for a pair of MC 1's That I paired w/ a pair of DWM sub's.. Less than Half the cost of these new Maggies! Killer sound in a small space.
I like how you requested Pink Floyd "The Wall". Great, well recorded track, and if the speaker can't hang, I don't want it.

Absolutely amazing to see a magnapan Atmos system.
I've always wanted to see a simple 2 way magi with the ribbon tweeter. I'm pretty interested in this one.

Many scratched their head at the price, so we'll see how it plays out.

Thank you!!!
Pistonic boxes for much less 😮

This rep is irritating. More irritating is the 7500 price tag with the need of a subwoofer.
That's the big question... Will it sell at that price despite needing a sub?
Where is the .7X?????🤔
I hate the company so much
Then why are you here watching the video!

This isn't a Wendell project, but we'll see how this new line turns out.
