@@IndridCool54 I absolutely don't know how 20 years can slip by like that. I remember watching these shows like it was yesterday. Every weekend. And I recorded them on whatever I had back then. Blink....... and its 2024. And I'm sad...

It would've been really cool to see some before and after dyno runs. Those 4.6 and 5.4 Mod engines had some serious issues with the heads and ejecting spark plugs...they also suffered from weak exhaust manifold studs leading to exhaust leaks and ticks.
good torque 🔧 used correctly and anti seize. the exhaust studs just corrode over time. most mod engines are over 2 decades old by now. both easy fix issues.
I have a 2005 F150 FX4 and it’s just about at 350k. Only thing I had to replace under the hood (besides maintenance items) is the throttle body. It had 25 miles on it when I bought it new. I’m an old dude and I have been living a nomad life for the last few years and I tow my 19ft travel trailer around with it. 😎
The whole issue was not enough torque on the plugs from the factory, called for 12 ft lbs. Done tons of plug changes on the 2vs. Just pull them out when the heads are cold and torque to 24ft lbs and you'll have no issues. The exhaust studs rusting and breaking are pretty common on the Hemi's too. just swap them out for stainless.
@WhoThisGuy515 If I remember right, the problem on the 3v 5.4 plugs was they were a two piece plug from the factory and would break when you went to change them. I have an ‘05 and I have done all the spark plug changes myself, but it’s been a long time since I did that first set. I remember that I did do it with the engine warm and I sprayed some penetrating oil the day before. I also remember some cylinder heads had insufficient threads for the plugs. That might have been the 2v. 👍🏼
The 5.4l 2v (pre-2003) had the plug ejecting issues due to heat cycling and the limited number of threads in the heads as long as you check them for occasionally for tightness it's not an issue. The exhaust manifolds are a problem with lots of different makes and models' aluminum heads and cast-iron manifolds are just problematic with the two dissimilar metals. The 5.4 3v engines i would stay away from completely the cam phasers problems and the two-piece spark plug it's just not worth the time and effort.
Ik about to get a new cell phone & start over I can't believe Mike Galley & Joe Elmore knows Blake You have no idea how much that means to Blake 😂 😂 😂 😂 .... & Jay Meaghar from RS Street Peformance !
Bright idea if you don't want to slam your truck for the grinding effect, use an electric actuator bolded to your frame then bolt the grinders to them and wire in, adjust to grind and enjoy the grind without lowering your truck.
Only those who don't understand nor have the ability to properly work on them would say that about one of THE best trucks ever made......would take one of these over the new JUNK any day. I have seen dozens of these with 250k+.
Ah. The wonderful days when SD hosted Trucks. I thought those great times would last forever😢
Man, where did the last 20+ years go? 😵💫

Classic Stacey David excellence!
Back when trucks were affordable. I owned a 97 F150XLT SC. Overall a good truck that served me well for 8 years.
Us car guys watching these old car shows is the equivalent to those normies watching old football games lol 😂

Was really hoping to see the truck run, looking to do something similar to my 03 now.
I know right. I have this exact truck. With new engine. Would love to put this on mine.
Nostalgia unlocked
He makes it look so easy.
I’ve learned so much from this video, thank you guys! 🔧💡
with that boost say good bye to that spark plug.
Please drop the full build thank you

I was never a big fan of the slope-nose F150. That said, Bigfoot had some really awesome schemes when they used the body.
One of THE best trucks ever made.
Use loctite on something you may need to take off and back on from time to time...... " whoo! Made 1000 hp !"

1980's vibe here - they got caught in a wormhole

They forgot to show us the part where the spark plugs blew through the hood and the cab corners rusted out!
Shows just how big trucks have gotten, the current Ranger is like the same size ad that F150 lol
No it's not
@@jasonmurdoch9936 pretty close. That F150 is longer. But not as high or wide.
A F150 or An F150, I know your right but this is trippn my mind
I put a 3.4 whipple on my 2003.... Runs 11.4 (spinning)

Holy shit look at that powder-ass wig he's wearing at 2:05. Do you think he curled that or did the makeup ladies?
That f150 body style was really good looking. Too bad the 5.4L wasn't Ford's best creation.
Never had a problem with the three I own
Those had the 2v 5.4. Great engines. 3v... you couldnt give me one
I’m a Ford guy…that being said, I wouldn’t spend a wooden nickel on that boat anchor 5.4.
