Can you verbally explain how to tell if you have a fake? Is it a serial number check ? I’m sorry just don’t follow the video as far as what is the exact give a way that you have a fake?
There are actually a lot of videos out there that verbalize .. Just type "how to detect a Beofang fake" in YT. The main ones outlined here tho are: 1. The fakes do not reveal all information in CHIRP and editing is limited. 2. TX/RX strength is much lower. 3, packaging is not correct and either is the manufacturing S/N label ... If you need more info, please check out some of the other videos out there .... they were helpful to me for spotting the fakes. Good luck and hope that helps a bit
Hi there Rob. Sorry for tardy reply, missed this! Glad it helped. The actual BF-F8HP is crap anyway. I recommend staying away from Baofeng! I had the worst experience! I heard the Yaesu is much better. Good luck.
You are welcome. Good choice! Mine were much worse than the original Baofeng handhelds .... but I sent those back as well. Just not great radios. There are much better options out there. Glad the video helped.
@@husobaltaci3382 I think ALL are but for sure most! I bought directly from Baofeng. There are a bunch of vids out there the show how to detect Boafeng fakes ... my vid shows a couple but there are more ways to detect fakes. Basically if it seems like a great deal, it fake!
Nope. I lost signal after a 1/4 mile line-of-sight. I sent back within 2 weeks. Also, these counterfeit do not work with the CHIRP programming software.
Nope, just a consumer that got pissed at being misled. And my intended message is ..... Its about buying an under performing, overpriced knock-off under the perception that you are buying an original. Good that you are happy with yours....

Thank you!! I bought one on Ebay and after seeing your video, I'm returning it as a counterfeit. I'll be more careful next time!

Are all baofengs on ebay counterfeits?
@@husobaltaci3382 I would not buy one on Ebay. Find a reputable on line store that sells them.

Fake ones have major problems with the repeater adapter
Good to know! Can't program them with CHIRP either ... at least the one I had
Do they still work the same?
