The core problem that our hearts won't accept is that the Army is the root of the problems in Pakistan - It is a bitter truth we need as a society to accept and that radical and extreme reform is needed in the High Command of the Army, Judiciary, and civil service. The basis of their appointment, their powers and duties, duration of service, and terms of termination (i.e serve at the pleasure of the Chief executive or remove Judges by a resolution of the Senate and National Assembly as envisaged in the original 1956 constitution). There needs to be reform in the powers of the COAS to make appointments, it should be regulated by a Senior Public Service Board for Brigadier and above, and all high court/Supreme Court Judges and Senior Grade 20 and above civil service appointments must be made by such boards and confirmed by a committee of a directly elected senate or National Assembly committee. Until the powers of the COAS, the Judges, and civil servants are not diluted we will continue to have such characters who think of themselves as gods. Look we are heading to a bloody revolution - whether we like it or not, when people cannot afford to eat, people will react - it is just a tinderbox waiting to ignite - it will take a simple situation/spark getting out of hand - like the Mohamed Bouaziz setting himself on fire in Tunisia, from sheer desperation. The Army as a whole institution is playing with fire, I personally think it will be for the best, and is perhaps Allah's will that Pakistan be cleansed with acid but the cost will be unbearable in lives lost. But from this fire will emerge the Pheonix (PAKISTAN) stronger better and more just

I totally agree that mistakes were made but most of Pakistani’s who face slightest of allegations of treachery may not have chance to explain or in most cases nobody listens. This General served at very sensitive position he should have refused to cooperate with US agency. Nowadays, Very body is jumping for dollar. Calculation of sentence is amazing. Nawaz Sharief and Asif Zardari also benefited with that calculation. General Bajwa should be kept in museum or research laboratories for further research on his brain.

Is court marshal applicable to serving officers or it is also applicable to retired army officers? I would think court marshal is only applicable to serving officers. Can someone confirm this?

Sir according to Military rules serving and rtd army officers and jawans soldiers both r face this punishment if they found guilty any serious security laps matter under act 1923.
@@mirzashafiq4131 I am not asking about punishment. A retired officer is a private citizen (after 2yrs of retirement); therefore, he can only be prosecuted under civil law, not military law. I would expect a JAG-prosecutor would file a case against the retired officer in the federal court under act 1923 or article 6.

It’s very sensitive topic. General, your explanation certainly tames down aggression against…. Your expression indicate 3 ways of punishment waver . First 2 are acceptable, 3rd is concerning that you have correctly identified. However sensitive appointment holders be watched, warned before they commit… In this case media had reported of Javed Iqbal trap . Most probably he couldn’t sustain pressure and fell in the trap . Maybe he could be saved before hand . How ever it’s his bad luck , maybe weakness that he got ultimate punishment. Not only jail , he faced court martial and got kicked out! Lesson learned is to be on guard for your safety , institution’s dignity and Pak land’s security .

O you who have believed, do not violate the rites of Allāh or [the sanctity of] the sacred month or [neglect the marking of] the sacrificial animals and garlanding [them] or [violate the safety of] those coming to the Sacred House seeking bounty from their Lord and [His] approval. But when you come out of iḥrām, then [you may] hunt. And do not let the hatred of a people for having obstructed you from al-Masjid al-Ḥarām lead you to transgress. And cooperate in righteousness and piety, but do not cooperate in sin and aggression. And fear Allāh; indeed, Allāh is severe in penalty.
