I have never been a real Michael Jackson fan, and I am not even a fond of electic guitars but I love this performance! It was also the first time I saw John Mayer. "Human Nature" was not written by Michael Jackson but by Steve Porcaro of Toto, but strangely enough for me it was always the best and most personal Michael Jackson song.
Yes, Steve Porcaro got the idea for this song because he said that when his daughter was a little girl in grade school, there was a boy who kept picking on her evidently because he liked her but she didn’t realize it. She kept asking her dad…”Why? Why?” So glad that she kept asking him because Human Nature is by far my favorite Michael Jackson hit

Always cry when I see this video, one of my all time favourite MJ songs, and John just nailed, SUPERB GUTAR WORK....
One top 5 favorite MJ songs. To hear JM play it at Michael's memorial gave me the chills...and then I dropped a few tears for arguebly THE GREATEST ENTERTAINER THAT EVER LIVED. Still haven't gotten used to him passing away.
From 2023, John’s tribute is as outstanding and emotional as it was then. Simply lovely and lovingly timeless, like John himself.
I REMEMBER BEING AT MY MOM'S HOUSE WATCHING TV WITH HER AND WHEN JOHN MAYER CAME OUT ON TV AND PLAY THE SONG WE BOTH STARTED CRYING.
I still come to hear this spectacular performance
its 2016 but still micheal jackson music is still better than the new ones.......long live the king..
I still come back to this video every now and then since i saw it on live tv
I always liked John Mayer....this sealed him as a favorite for me. This is still a beautiful tribute years later.
Everytime i watch i still get sad about MJ not being here anymore. May he rest in peace. Ps. John Mayers performance had so much heart❤
This was the best part of Michael Jackson's memorial!
I really hoped Janet would perform "Together Again".
But it didn't happen.
I just so enjoyed John Mayer's beautiful instrumental tribute!
Thank you!
Certain songs are so perfect. This performance at Michael Jackson's funeral showed respect for the original version and Michael Jackson. I remember when I first saw this. It touches my heart every time.
29/04/2015. This is magic.. Make me cry! R.I.P MJ.
I can't seem to have enough of John Mayer's play of M.J's Human Nature song
This was an impressionable time in my life! People will say Nipsey but this was wayyy more meaningful
I remember watching this live, his performance was one of the highlights for me, it's one of those moments I'll never ever forget.
0:20 I absolutely adore the way John's able to get the audience to sync into his rhythm...
Came here to listen to this because I find it extremely soothing, but I can never bring myself to actually watch the video until today. And now I'm crying :'( this is exactly why I didn't want to watch it! Seeing that smile broke my heart :/ I love him and miss him so much
John Mayer murdered that performance🙌 he made me fall inlove with the song all over again.
The tone of his guitar, thats his soul wailing. He literally dialed in the tone of his soul.
At that moment I did not understand the gravity of the whole thing.
Looking back now, to imagine how he so graciously pulled this off, live and in the moment.
What an artist, what a dude. Fact that he backed away from mainstream and mellowed down without losing his craft makes me appreciate him more.
Had me with chills the entire time. Michael and John are two of my biggest inspirations and this tribute was incredible.
This masterpiece has been living in my head rent free for 13 years allready ❤
Ugh I miss Michael...😞
Me too😔
Thanks to Steve Porcaro for this song. And for Steve Lukather's amazing guitar work.
Fuck....my best friend showed me this....still tears me to pieces
A friend of mine once said 'If guitars could only speak'. This surely is one that reminds me.
6 years ago today we lost Michael Jackson!
RIP to the Greatest to ever do it. :)
I’ll never forget this. Beautiful!
