@@jackthecommenter2768 so true. I actually was a literal kid for the prequel era and while as an adult i see both the points against and also in favor of the importance of jar jar, my main memory as a kid is... he was no more annoying that c3po. Hello there. Yeah completely agree, poor guy must need therapy just to fathom that idea. Can only imagine what jumping over furniture with imaginary lightsabers would be like against Anakin
I really love how Ewan mentioned bringing Ahmed Best back into Star Wars. He was treated so terribly by the fandom so it would be really nice to see him get his moment of appreciation like Ewan and Hayden are getting now
I still like the theory that at first Jar Jar was meant to be the Sith Lord in idiot's diguise. Playing them all, it would have worked sooo god in the sequel as a reveal.
I got a little emotional when hayden talked about getting the role, I now a lot of people and myself relate to that child-like joy, it just made it sadder for me to think all the backlash he got, in the end it was just a guy excited to do what he loves and take on this character. Im so glad he's getting so much support now, you can tell he's excited to be back despite everything and it was brave of him, I can't wait to see him in obi wan.
@@Retetop Correct about Hayden's acting, but George knew exactly what he was doing with the films. But he is absolutely terrible with writing dialogue. Alec Guinness himself said he "couldn't go on speaking those awful, banal lines" when asked how he felt about Star Wars. Hayden played the character well but George's dialogue for the character was questionable to say the least. Still love it though.
@@Retetop I would disagree with one thing Hayden doesn't seem to be great at capturing Anakin's emotional scenes it comes off as a whiny emo he did exactly this in some of his earlier films I hope he knocks it out of the park this time though.
Hayden’s reaction to being cast in Star Wars is the most relatable thing I think I’ve heard any cast member of these films say about them. I grinned just as he did hearing him say that, super heartwarming.
Hayden is such a sweetheart. He never turned his back on Star Wars even after all the hate he got when it wasn't even his fault. You can hate the prequel but not for the actors. They were doing the best with what they got. I'm just so happy to see people starting to appreciate him and seeing him smile like that makes me so happy. He will forever be the Chosen One.
I don't like much the prequel especially episode I but episode II & III with Hayden are good and Ewan and Hayden play perfectly their roles: Ewan awesome young obi wan and hayden play perfectly young little bit arrogant Jedi, we can feel the brother vibe between them and that's why final combat is so epic! I think Natalie Portman was far less good this two, decent but not at their levels. Emperor actor is awesome also.
Hayden brought humanity to Anakin. He made realize why Anakin turned to the dark side. He thought he was making the right choice but he was deceived. Hayden could have become bitter but he didn't and I believe his career is really going to be resurrected again.
It's so surreal seeing Hayden in a "televised" interview. I'm so happy to see my boy return. That "Anakin Skywalker, not a Jedi Master" was peak self awareness though. You can't hate this man.
Hayden's story about how he and his friend reacted to him been approved to be in the movies, really feels like one the most memorable moments of his life, glad to be here to listen to him share it Edit: I just want to say in a very short way that... I am thankful to have received this many likes, it might mean little to nothing to some, because in the end in just a comment made in a video... But for someone who's living through a horrible time, it really means a lot... Thanks everyone
Hayden got treated so unfairly. He did a great job with what he was given. He even told George that if he played Anakin like he was on the page that kind of whiny teenager there would be backlash and there was. He felt like he was being blamed for Anakin’s faults and had to constantly remind himself that George must have seen something in him. I’m glad to seem him come back and get the love he always should have.
I feel sorry about the hatred Hayden had to deal with after the prequels. He is very committed, I heard he researched his own role as Anakin - and David Prowse's Vader - for a cohesive acting. It's a nice thing to do, and it shows, it gives the deserved "filling" to the villain, layers of deepness. And he looks like a really nice guy.
The more I see of Hayden in interviews the more I love this man, he's so nice and super relax. The fact he still wanted to come back as Anakin/Vader despite the backlash and or cyber bullying he has faced over decades speaks volumes about him as a person. He's not in it for a quick payday he genuinely cares about the character. I'm happy he hasn't become jaded and still loves this whole universe which he's so integral to.
@@sparklenuke Oh yeah totally man, this toxicity happens to so many actors which I can't stand. It's not the actors fault if the film didn't turn out to be good. They're hired to do a job, playing a character a certain way at the behest of the director and or writers and that's exactly what Hayden did with ROTS. He played Anakin a specific moment in his life where either the people he knew like Rex and Ashoka were gone or the people in his life he was growing more distant with like Obi Wan and Padme. That's how Palpatine easily seduced Anakin he played up the role of "hey you can tell me anything you like don't worry about the jedi."
Hayden’s answers are so in-depth and wholesome. It’s like he’s figured out the inner workings of his soul and is the wise man Anakin needed to be 🙌🏾 so excited for him to be coming back. Kenobi is gonna be great!
For real, Hayden in this interview gives me Jedi MASTER Anakin vibes. Maybe watching The Clone Wars and such helped him better understand the leadership and wisdom Anakin has been given through the expanded material?
I wonder why there still is no interview of Hayden and Ewan reacting to prequel memes. The interviews for the show would have been the perfect opportunity for this
I love how many of the actors in interviews speak about how they want to see Ahmed Best return, which is almost like a subtle nod to the backlash he got much like Hayden. These actors all got each other's backs.
Yeah I love that. Ahmed had that really sad story of how he almost jumped off the Brooklyn bridge because of the outcry against his character and all the threats he received. So glad he didn't take the jump, and even more glad how everyone's opinions on the prequels and the characters have changed. These guys have gone for years thinking people hated them.
Yeah I hope they bring him back as a Jedi in the High Republic or something along those lines. Or Give Jar Jar his originally planned death of trying to save younglings
I have no desire to see Jar Jar Binks or really any prequel anything. Ahmed Best shouldn't have been to upset about not getting respect for that role. There wasn't a way to save that.

You know Hayden is a true Star Wars nerd at heart especially when him and his roommate have a lightsaber battle with and a Star Wars track playing in the background
@@jvcardoso1997 in fairness, we’re talking about two decades of difference here. Hayden was going in when Star Wars was in a really good spot and 9/11 didn’t happen yet, Moses meanwhile is going in when Star Wars has been mired by the sequels and the world is a shitstorm after shitstorm. I’m certain that’d play a role
I love that Ewan brought up the toughness of the green screen stage. Because in hindsight, that whole process was still real actively new in that capacity. People will criticize it but Lucas was a visionary for the uses of the technology at the time. Sloppy execution on parts but look at what we have now. Most Marvel movies are CGI and now incorporate a bit of realistic environments, but Star Wars kinda brought that to the forefront
Well, Matrix (1999) also used a lot of green screen. Original Star Wars used blue screen. It is quite an old technology. What was new in nineties was the extensive use of CGI.
@@talaniel One of the major differences is that unless it was a major fight sequence/ unrealistic setting, the majority of those movies could be shot on a set. Meaning the actors could immerse themselves into the characters more. Maybe the acting wouldn’t have been so heavily criticized if the actors could have been on less blue/ green screen sets. Edit: that may have come of as condescending on accident on second read. Sorry
@@antoniaawkward Yeah, real sets help for sure. I guess, not having so many CGI characters helps too :-) I think this is what critics of Jar Jar, or rather of Ahmed Best, forget - if I recall correctly, he was present physically on the set in a costume, that helped other actors I believe, compared to Kaminoans, who were just a ball on a stick I believe Ewan said :-)
An actor friend always says that 'acting is reacting' - working in a green/blue screen environment must be a whole new skill set for an actor when they don't have anyone in shot to react to. I'd love to hear more about that process for actors since green screen is so ubiquitous now.
It’s not that cheesy of writing, especially in Revenge of the Sith. Revenge of the Sith is a masterpiece and the best movie of all time along with Empire Strikes Back
Jake, Hayden and Ahmed were all unjustly treated disrespectfully by the community. I always liked these characters (yes, Jar-Jar too for what he was) and never understood why the actors had to be treated so harsh. It's good to see that at least so many years later the prequel trilogy gets the respect it always deserved. I'm super hyped to see Ewan and Hayden being back!
And the fact that people are doing the same thing with the sequels makes me sad as well. I hope they get this same retrospective love in a few years time.
@@katherinefrost6318 In my experience I have never seen the fans attacking the sequels actors, at least not like the prequels actors were attacked. The sequels actors are pretty great, but the writing and the plot are very flawed and deserving of the criticism they’ve gotten.
Crazy how Hayden sounds more like Matt Lanter as he's gotten older, really helps blend the two actors into one character, especially if he incorporates some of the deeper voice into any flashbacks
I like how ewan and the new girl were genuine about what was challenging and Hayden just said he had trouble not making lightsaber sound effects. Absolute legend
Ewan is so perfectly cast for a younger Obi-wan, the progression of his character is so natural. How did Lucas visualise this so well all the way back in the 90s?
There's a great behind the scenes interview/recording where they're talking about how his facial structure and the shape of his nose and the triangle area of his cheekbones, forehead, nose and lip, resembled a lot that of Alec Guinness and how it was the most important in regards of facial structure resemblance.
Here's a little bit of what I'm talking about and the craziest part of it is that they looked into all of these little details that factored into his portrayal, even since Episode I, here's the link: ruclips.net/video/5ihqDETf324/видео.html
I seem to recall Ewan, back in the 90s, talking about studying Sir Alec Guinness' speech patterns for his role as young Kenobi. His dedication as an actor rules.
It's so heartwarming to see Ewan mentioning Ahmed Best, they all deserve so much more than what they've got at the time. Anyways I can't wait to see all of them in action, especially Moses and her character!

Idk why but seeing Hayden again almost brings a tear of joy to my eye. I never felt that he deserved all that hate that he had gotten like at all! He is actually really good in other movies but no one could seem to see past the whiny “I hate sand! It’s rough, course and gets everywhere” thing which is tremendous saddening because he deserved so much more. And people don’t even understand why he hated sand so much either! For those who didn’t understand sand was an allegory for other stuff in his life. For example: he hated sand because where he was raised as a slave was full of sand the worst parts of his life where on a planet full of sand, his mom died on that sandy planet to Tusken Raiders aka Sand People. Like the worst aspects of his life where involved with sand that’s why he hated. He grew up with nothing but sand and everytime he was around it he was reminded of all the bad he had to endure. So, he wasn’t just saying he hated sand to make an edgy sand remark it was meaning behind it but no one even looked past what he said.
The fact that people didn't like Hayden's Anakin proves he was doing the character perfectly. You aren't supposed to like him by the end; we sympathized with him as the slave boy who could save the universe, but he was awkward intentionally and gets twisted by temptation. Its ridiculous to bash an actor for making you dislike a character that you are meant to dislike, and he is awkward because he was raised as a slave. I think its really people being uncomfortable with the darkness of it all and Hayden was the scapegoat. Sand people are people too.
People didn't like him because his dialogue was written poorly. Stop trying to force meaning where there isn't. People didn't like him since the begining of the movie.
The dialogue was pretty atrocious at times. And he was directed poorly. I but credit where credit is due. The end of episode 3 still had so much weight to it.
@@nofxdude89 The script and writing were fine. Perfect? No. But it's acceptable. Lucas knows how to direct his actors. He sucks at romance, I admit that, but other than that, he did good.
Hayden didn't have the range as an actor. Too wooden. Compare to Alec Guinness in the original. It's similar dialogue, so you can't blame the script. But, it sounds like Hayden has matured as an individual which I'm hoping will pay off in adding depth to his acting chops.
@@armandoadrian6752 I think the issue was that when the movies were released, most fans were like 30-50 year old people who were expecting a repeat of the original trilogy. They hated Anakin because they didn't like a realistic portrayal of an emotionally damaged youth. But the people who grew up without that previous expectation and without the bias can appreciate the character more.
This feels again like the peak of Star Wars, the feeling is the same, seeing those faces back together doing press conference. Didn't know we needed it that much!! please keep doing something with them!!
Hayden Christensen in the prequels perfectly portrayed the angsty, angry, arrogant and even cringey teenager and young adult that Darth Vader must have been.
I wish more people understood that. What they did with Anakin in the PT is foreshadowing who he will become in the Originals. And I thought it was great.
Yeah I feel like people forget that the only reason Anakin wasn’t as giddy as he was in the clone wars is because he’s gone through such much up to that point and LOST so much. He was pretty much in his Vader phase.
@@ImLOG4N George Lucas' direction was fine. Maybe it's because I'm no filmmaker myself but if a dumbass like me enjoyed the Prequels as much as the Originals. Well to me that says something. I just think people had massively different expectations for the PT. Or maybe they were expecting something similar to the OT but in an interview George didn't want to repeat what he already did. He wanted something new and different. I mean if you look at the Force Awakens it's just the A New Hope 2.1, it's not terrible in my opinion but it's not exactly great either.

Man, I can't wait to see Hayden as Darth Vader. He did such a great job playing a young and emotionally conflicted Anakin, it's impossible to not get excited seeing what sort of depth he'll bring to an older, angry and depressed version of the character. I hope they keep him around not just in this series, but the other series to come as well.
Major props to Ewan for giving Ahmed Best such a nice shout-out. He deserves a lot better treatment than what the fans gave him, whether they liked the character or not
Anakin Skywalker is my favorite cinema character of all time. Hayden played him perfectly and I am over the moon to see him back in Star Wars. It is an incredible feeling. I just hope they do him justice in this series. I’m very skeptical. I don’t trust Disney to handle Obi Wan let alone Darth Vader.
It’s nice to see the difference of perspective between Ewan and Hayden’s experience with the franchise and Moses’s introduction to the story- I envy her for being able to explore everything for the first time
I'm not even a big star wars person, but I still enjoyed the movies, and I was really disappointed to find out how much hate Hayden got. It was the script, yet the actor is the one who gets blamed. And at the end of the day- it's a movie. and behind the character, is this real person who worked hard for months on a huge movie he appreciated so much, only to be torn apart. People can be unnecessarily cruel a lot of the time. smh.
This makes my heart so happy. When I saw the prequels I was just a little kid. Seeing Ewan and Hayden bring those characters to life when they were younger was amazing and seeing them now, I still have the same feeling which is excitement and it makes me lowkey teary eyed thinking about it. I can't wait for this series to come out and see more of what happens after Revenge of the Sith. 🖤

I think a lot of that hate you hear was the generation that grew up with the OT. I grew up in the 90s and although agree the OT is best I also loved the prequels. I saw them all in theaters so to me the prequels are special. I never hated Hayden, but I do recall my parents thinking he was a whiny brat basically as Anakin. A lot of people shared that sentiment at the time. I think that was more of the writers fault though than Haydens.
Good on Ewan for giving Ahmed Best some love. A lot of Star Wars characters and the actors portraying them have been abused by the toxic fandom through the years, but none took a bigger hit than Best. Jar Jar was a silly characters, for sure, but the level to which people would take the hate was unreal.
I feel bad for Moses just hearing and knowing she was nervous about the series and knowing the fans can be sometimes very harsh. I know real SW fans didn’t comment those horrible things to her. I loved her Inquisitor character and hope to see her character somehow in the next chapters of SW. Respect to Ewan for standing up for Ahmed and his jar jar character.
Ahmed Best/ Jar Jar is a better character than Reva LMAO Not Moses' fault, they just couldn't write the character to be any less contrived. Also, with the twist at the end of the series, it makes sense that she's a bit of a piecemeal villain, but as an actress I don't feel that Moses has had much experience actually portraying an altogether evil or downtrodden character.
The more I've seen movies with younger Alec Guinness, the more I've realised how good the casting of Ewan McGregor really was. They have same twinkle, and kinda reserved pomp.

I think what made people unfortunately dislike Hayden's portrayal in the Prequels was mainly that they didn't actually understand who Anakin was supposed to be. All that they knew was that he was Luke's father and that he became Darth Vader. With all of the other shows (especially the Clone Wars) fleshing out Star Wars canon and fleshing out characters like Anakin, we can really understand that Hayden played the part perfectly. He perfectly embodied what George wanted Anakin to be and people just didn't get it.

It's a nice thing to do, and it shows, it gives the deserved "filling" to the villain, layers of deepness. And he looks like a really nice guy.
The more I see of Hayden in interviews the more I love this man, he's so nice and super relax. @@sparklenuke Oh yeah totally man, this toxicity happens to so many actors which I can't stand. It's not the actors fault if the film didn't turn out to be good. He played Anakin a specific moment in his life where either the people he knew like Rex and Ashoka were gone or the people in his life he was growing more distant with like Obi Wan and Padme.
Jurassic Park? What is that?
Just kidding, I get your point

Yes, even Luke in A New Hope had his 'whiny teen moments' and it's interesting to see how these characters have grown over their arcs.
I wish more people understood that. What they did with Anakin in the PT is foreshadowing who he will become in the Originals. And I thought it was great.
No I think he was just poorly directed and people are making excuses for him.
Seeing Ewan and Hayden bring those characters to life when they were younger was amazing and seeing them now, I still have the same feeling which is excitement and it makes me lowkey teary eyed thinking about it. I can't wait for this series to come out and see more of what happens after Revenge of the Sith. 🖤
whether we as a fanbase like the show or not, and if they made decisions that we really dislike, please everyone remember not to bash the actors themselves. theyre all putting their hearts into this, and theyll all do a great job. any storyline plots we disagree with wasnt their idea! cheers
No bash the actors
What makes you think anyone will listen to you?

Yo the way she talks about the character u can already tell where this is heading.
I would like to hope for this but i dont think the average star wars fans is jedi like enough to not let hate consume them🤷🏾♀️ they already hate Reva before even seeing her
"I play Anakin Skywalker" Yeah sure...we all know who's he actually going to play.
Thanks for the clarification splashpage
Vadeeer🔥
ahaha
There may be flashbacks. In one interview Ewan said that he saw Hayden back in Anakin's suit and Hayden also watched all clone wars and rebels before filming.
Anakin and Vader are the same
I’m so happy ewan and hayden got to experience better technology when filming in comparison to just using blue screen! You can tell they were excited about it.
@@sose6255 they made the mandalorian so idc

Another thing too, it makes me happy knowing so many people are welcoming Ewan but especially Hayden cuz he got a lot of criticism for his acting which to me is outrageous because he fully brought Anakin and Vader to life. What also makes me happy is seeing their reactions when they first got the job and now, it makes my heart happy knowing they're excited too like we are. 🖤
Ewan and Hayden being back is such a overwhelming feeling of happiness
Too bad the show won't be about them. This interview evens shows that.

hayden and andrew are both having the redemption arc nobody expected. and as a big fan of the prequels and TASM I'm all up for it
The resurgence of two GOATS
Not that they needed redemption because they were always good 👍
@@iloveyourgyatttt they were both great just stuck in movies that weren’t so… Although I def think ROTS is a good movie it does have flaws and yeah TASM films def were worse than the prequels at least IMO

Don't know who Andrew is it's all about Hayden here
You can totally see the love and passion Hayden and Ewan have for their characters and for Star Wars. I'm so happy they're both back and I'm hoping this show does both of their characters justice and that it truly is the Obi-Wan show and that Darth Vader/Anakin plays a huge role. That's all I want, the both of them with all the other characters adding to the story. It's all about Ewan and Hayden!!!!
Love this cast! They were our childhood the same way the mark hamil , carrie fischer and harrison ford were for the originals. Every person who loved the prequels is so happy to see hayden and ewan back in their roles!
Its so surreal to see Hayden and Ewan being involved in Star Wars together again. Very eager to see how this series pans out
Finally It’s Here 👏 👏

I recently learned that hayden got a lot of hate for playing anakin and I honestly don’t get why, I wish one day I could meet the man and thank him for making my childhood great
because a lot of star wars fans are toxic...
Ahmed Best was bullied into a point where he considered suicide... today most of those who did that would probably cheer for Jar Jar's return... just like those who bullied Kelly Marie Tran will cheer if she returns to star wars in a decade...
You recently learned that?
@@segments2156 I think cheering for Kelly in a few years would be stretching it
I think a lot of that hate you hear was the generation that grew up with the OT.
It's simple. People can be absolute a$$holes sometimes.
i love Hayden Christensen more than I love myself
Do you have any problems in life with yourself ?
Good on Ewan for giving Ahmed Best some love. A lot of Star Wars characters and the actors portraying them have been abused by the toxic fandom through the years, but none took a bigger hit than Best. Jar Jar was a silly characters, for sure, but the level to which people would take the hate was unreal.
When she mentioned "escapism" it made me teary eyed because of all the comfort this universe has been, like the warmest blanket in the darkest days.
I really hope now Hayden receives all the love and support he deserved 20 years ago. He's amazing and totally deserves it!
I cannot express how happy I am to see Hayden back again! He’s such a good person
Nah bruh if you think Reva is a good character you on something
@@owenmoore3136 I really enjoyed her character and Uncle Owen and his wife.
Ahmed Best/ Jar Jar is a better character than Reva LMAO
Not Moses' fault, they just couldn't write the character to be any less contrived. Also, with the twist at the end of the series, it makes sense that she's a bit of a piecemeal villain, but as an actress I don't feel that Moses has had much experience actually portraying an altogether evil or downtrodden character.
@@owenmoore3136 Nah. Speak for yourself. I actually liked Reva.
i mean i think the character sucked but obviously nothing against her personally
The more I've seen movies with younger Alec Guinness, the more I've realised how good the casting of Ewan McGregor really was. They have same twinkle, and kinda reserved pomp.
Completely agree even the hand gestures he makes are spot on
Oh man, seeing Hayden like this is soooo great. I AM one of the people who grew up with the Prequels and it's just amazing to see them both back. When Hayden said "you step into the Volume and.. you're IN Star Wars!" - that's just the level of fan he is. He loves it. That would be my reaction, too. Love to see it all, cannot wait for the first two episodes!
YES!!!!!!
Seeing both kings and the queen in this interview is just full of serotonin.
17 years later, Hayden and Ewan looked well for their age. May2 27th is just around the corner, and the hype is real!!!!!
I appreciate the actress for Riva being honest about how anxiety inducing dealing with the fandom very well is
@Jimpossible Bananarchy absolutely

@Jimpossible Bananarchy she is the most forgettable villain in Star Wars to date, I hope she gets flamed off screen lmao
@@gekyume9701 Lol, you are such a nice person :-D
I'm not sure she is the most forgettable villain in SW. I would probably find more of them in the expanded universe books. Or in the movies - Snoke? That one is forgetable :-)
@@talaniel yeah but Snoke was still cooler than screaming BLM black woman.
keep these interviews coming! Hayden sounds so at peace with everything, and grateful.
The writing and dialogue is just bad, that's all
People arr still saying he is too whiny but that was the point. He is supposed to be emotionally stunted, angry and whiny because he felt that his talent was being wasted
@@theoutsiderjess1869 exactly
I understood exactly who he was supposed to be and i dont like his character
His line readings were appalling regardless of what the intent was. HIgh school level acting at best.
I love that they are taking about the prequels now instead of just the new show
I like how Ewan tried to hide the smile after saying bring Jar-Jar back. Dude knew exactly what he was doing.
Protect Hayden at all costs.
Let's protect Moses Ingram as well!
