The magic finger thing was a joke Greg (our protagonist) and his uncle had. Basically as a kid he wanted something from a claw machine, and his uncle tapped the machine being like “I have the magic finger of luck” and won it first try, making it a running joke between Greg and him.
In my POV, fetch is a loving animatronic dog doing what it's told, you have to be more specific, for example, I need my uncle's magic finger, you probably have to say figuratively.
There is a portion of the story where he actually saw the "will retrieve" text and went to his crush's house to prevent fetch from doing the deed. He got there before fetch but then Kimberly and her parents were wondering what he was doing there that late at night, Greg warned them but Kimberly and her parents didn't believe him, thought he was crazy, little did they know... Also Kyle had to stop doing that "connection story" thing you were talking about cuz not only did count the ways do the worst in views due to that part being there (you weren't able to loop the song without listening to the end part over and over) but when he tried to separate it out of count the ways, the yt algorithm basically screwed him over for uploading storytelling videos instead of music. So he had to scrap the connection stories entirely.

In the story, the main character sees Fetch watching him from the edge of the yard and breaks it apart with a bat, then buries the pieces, but after texting his crush and seeing Fetch's response texts still going, he goes back to where he buried the thing only to find the majority of it now missing, and later Kimberly dies in Fetch's 'retrieval'. After that, Fetch presumably continues 'helping' for a while before being found, captured and taken to Phineas Taggart, who uses its battery for the Stitchwraith.
The reason why that fetch can communicate by cell phone even though it's an old animatronic. It's able to connect to the zero point energy I don't know what that is but has to do with quantum physics mechanics that makes the universe. Which is why it can communicate with him while he's not trying to talk to fetch and even tries to communicate to him by dreams and mind reading.
Basically the kid wish he was confident enough to talk to that girl so he named all the cool tough kids around the school and white chicks find them attractive that's all mention of the body parts.
