OMG, she is still absolutely amazing and fantastic. She could be dressed in a potato sack, sing the phonebook, and that would be just as entertaining as ever. She is an artist With a great voice that hasn’t really diminished over the years.
Damn one of these great tunes lost in the time but as stucked in to my head. Once I had it going in my head about an nice woman.Damn I Wish I Was Your Lover...

So. I'm aware that Sophie Hawkins is gay. I'm aware that this song was written about a woman she knew in an abusive relationship. It is clearly not a song written about or for men, or their issues of trauma. But I'm gonna speak for my brother and sister combat veterans here. It's been nearly 40 years since I had to walk the walk and the lyric line of "I'll do such things to ease your pain Free your mind and you won't feel ashamed" punches through decades worth of scar tissue in my heart. And I still can't cry. I don't want my wife, who has loved me back to something resembling sanity, see me fall apart. I simply cannot, will not, fail her. I will be strong. Even if I have to chew my teeth to do it.
Anyone know any of the backing band. Gary Wallis on drums and Claudia Fontaine on backing vocals (fresh from Pink Floyd Divison Bell tour) and Andy Caine on BV but anyone else?

As usual Sophie just shines. However ,,,, First, I want to drag the 'sound engismear' out back and apply some old school schooling. The background vocals to this masterpiece are just barely behind her as recorded, not buried next to Jimmy Hoffa under a stadium. She got away with that because the backups were a softer tone while Sophies voice was just higher and brighter while pleading her case in the chorus. The original Producers , Rick Chertoff and Schuckett along with engineers David Leonard and Steve Churchyard and Sophie just produced one of the smoothest songs ever recorded. Apparently the guy at the mixing board never actually listened to the original recording orrrrr he just sucks. 2. Coming out of the bridge the keyboard player is clapping out of time. WTF.? I have toured extensively and speak to sound engineers about the hazards of fucking my sound during sound check and the rewards of not. Her road manager is a bitch for not doing the same. I'm 67 as I write this, and still a prog metal guitarist but this song remains in my top 20 and y'all know why. It strikes a universal longing for what could have should have would have missed wish. Thanks Sophie, ❤❤❤
You know the year is 2024😊 and I still adore this woman love you

One of the greatest themes from the 90s
One of my favorite songs!
One of my top top top favourite songs. The atmosphere is... visceral.
This might be the best this song ever sounded (and the studio version sounds GOOD)
An excellent version of a classic song iconic and almost written for this singer. What a belter of a song.
Sophie B wrote this song
This is her song, silly 😂

@@ablewindsor1459 Agreed. But the song was written by Prince for Sophie. Ask her record label if you need confirmation?

This is TRUE MUSIC!
Excellent :)
Wow
I've loved this song since it came out in the late 80s.
1992
Nope. It is an 80s song. I was still in college when it came out. At least that's how I remember it, so that's just me.
@@joeyk9578k but you can actually look up the release date lol. And it was March 1992. That's exactly when I remember hearing it.

Gary Wallis on Percussion, Tim Moore on Keyboards, Nik Kershaw on Guitar, All of which were In Nik Kershaw's Band (The Krew)
@@DarkCornerProductions didn't recognise Nik Kershaw but yes I believe it is.
Speaking of Pink Floyd, I’m curious what he and the band could do with this song(cover, sounds, etc) !!
