Dave, you are such an inspiration sir. One of my favorite things about your board is that most of the guys on The Gear Page would scoff at that board but your guitar skills pretty much slay all of us. I love that you your board is a tool for making music, not some expensive art house piece to gawk at.
Totally agree man. I really respect that Dave follows his taste and if he likes a pedal that is considered a piece of junk by most guitar players he ends up finding an usage for the pedal as a tool for his sound.
100% agree. When someone gives me grief at having four solid state amps and not even the slightest interest in purchasing a tube amp, I kind of just have to take it. Mr. Dave has the ability to smirk at such comments and then see those frowns flip into looks of dumbfounded amazement when he plays. I just look like an idiot making noise through a relatively inexpensive amp.
This comment is absolutely spot on, Dave's playing is a massive middle finger up to the cork sniffers out there who are more interested in having the most expensive gear becuse they think this will make them sound better rather than just concentrating on their playing. I'm sure Jimi, Rory, Stevie et al never cared about how prestigious their gear was so long as their sound was right.
Kevin Hill I used to have a Marshall MosFET lead 100 into a Peavey 2x12 cab with 120watt Celestions (I ran it dead clean but warm), a Boss OD-2 Turbo Overdrive (Tone at 9:00) as my distortion channel, a Yamaha chorus pedal, an OC-2, a DSD-2 delay and that was it. I had a guy come up to me all exited to ask me about my sound… I gave him the tour, and he asked my what kind of Marshall I was using… I explained the whole MosFET thing, and he said, “No TUBES?!” I said “Yeah”. He literally turned on his heel and walked away like I slapped him. I still laugh to myself about that one 25 years later.
This is the type of video that tells me you really know what guitar players like to see. Excellent video! I loved seeing it all in use. I too, do not like angled pedalboards. Also, those Marshall Guv'Nor pedals are getting hard to come by. I walked into a store in August here and saw the first one I've ever seen in person in my life. Snapped it up, and I must say, it is everything you say it is!
That Slane intro always gets me. Wonder if the Marley Park gig will bring out another killer Irish RHCP concert. BTW, I'm literally two minutes from Marley Park, so if you coming to the Dublin show you've a place to stay...you just pay for your keep by putting on a show in the backgarden :) great stuff Dave!
Cheers from NY to you Dave and the good people of the channel! So Dave we have 3 of the same pedals on our boards, Boss DS2, VOX847, and the Guvnor GV-2 Plus. I have the Guvnor because of you Dave lol. Thanks for the vid and have a great weekend all! :-)
I love this DI sound :) That pedal board sounds so sick man. I too run my fuzzes super low! It sounds so warm and lovely! nice! I can tell youve been using this board for so long, that tap dancing was on point haha!
I would have betted that due to you having more WH10s, the spare one would go to the live board But I feel happy to see Jimi there (VOX wah, Rotovibe, Double Muff, i see what you did there)
Love the dynamics of this board 👌 Dave, awesome playing as usual, shame you can't travel to Australia to play live with the Trio, that would be immense
That intro was widdle tastic mate. Ever thought about adding a fire extinguisher to your arsenal? Pretty sure I saw the fretboard smoking at one point! 😀
Go for it! I have both the Guvnor GV-2 Plus and the V847 Vox and they are great pedals. I have a '77 Dunlop crybaby as well but I prefer the sweep of the Vox.
A friend gave me an old vox Wah Wah. Some one stole it. Broke my heart. I have a cry baby. And one on my pedalboard. Man. I loved each for different reasons.
Awesome, I am doing the same thing today , made changes to my pedal set up hooked up my Fender and cranked it up while having a few Heineken, peace from Maple Ridge British Columbia, Canada eh.
Hi Dave, I'm excited about your intro jam and wonder if it's a well known song or if it's yours? Anyway, i`d love it if you could do a lesson on how to play it. I haven't been playing that long and I always get a lot out of your lessons.-) Cheers
I don't think it really matters through what amp, guitar or pedal you play. It always sounds like you... 👍 Though my pedals are changing all the time and are quite different than yours, we've got one pedal in common: I honestly love seeing that Zoom G2.1U on your board as it's been on my board too "for ever". You don't see them much, but that's OK. Because now I've been able to buy (cheap) several spare ones, in case one breaks, because I don't want to do without. I'm using it in the fx loop as mastervolume, delay and volumpedal, sometimes with a bit of chorus. It just such an inexpensive yet solid, reliable and versatile piece of equipment!!
Salut Dave. Just watched your video. If it’s only for powering 2 more pedals, you can daisy chain the dirt pedals, and free some outputs on the voodoolab. As long as you only do i for analog dirt pedals (no digital, and no delays chorus trem even analog) and respect the max draw by output. On the voodoolab you have 100ma outputs, and the ds2 for example only draws 12mA so you have more than necessary. I usually daisychain not more than 2 dirts. So you can pair the ds2 with the doublemuff, and pair the tonecity with the guvnor and then you free 2 power outputs for your new pedals (and you wont hear any difference for sure). PS: was it based on john’s untitled #2 in the intro?
Dave last time I saw your video about the guvnor the set up was: - Gain:5 - Bass:0 - Deeep mids: 10 - Mids:5 and - Highs:10 now you have - Gain:10 - Mids: I didn't hear it well - Highs in 0!!!!! That is a dramatic change. It is because you change the amp settings as well?
Found your channel by accident as I am looking at Kustom amp videos. I actually have the same Zoom pedal and it is interesting since I have never thought of using it the same way as you do, how much volume level you have set the compression on? Is there a reason why you set the reverb and delay early in the signal instead of the end like most people does?
Dave, will u explain to me why u prefer the DL4 in the front of your signal chain as opposed to the rear? Do u like the way your tone sounds going through it while the DL4 is off, or is it the way your delays, sound/layered? Or something else maybe? Also, I'm curious to know why I never see u with any type of fx-loop-switcher. Again, just curious, thanks!
Hi Dave Have you tried a Boss DS1X and OD1X ? I have the DS1X and Super OD and love them whats your thoughts on both have to admit that boss ds and Marshall gov sound very nice. Cheers Tony

I have a question Dave. I got a NuX Plexi Crunch based on your review awhile back, how much difference is that pedal to the Tone City Plexi you have on your board? Maybe you could do a vid showing the difference sometime. I have the G2.1u as well and it is great pedal too! Your pedalboard is not massive, but it kicks out the tones for sure. They serve you well. Thanks for showing it to us. 👍
