This looks like an absolute blast. My hunting setup clears the sight ring at 80 yards. I will have to change it up a bit and get off of 600 plus arrows. I hope to meet some of you folks next year. Good shooting!
Seriously man, you two shoot so incredibly well at these crazy ridiculous yardages. Both of you have such great form and technique. As a side note I am always referring shooters to your learning videos. I see so many people on RUclips that have no clue as to using their releases. Wonder if you could make more videos of you and Micah on a " regular?" type 3-d set up explaining all that you do for a given shot???? There's so many that would benefit tremendously I'm sure. 👍👍🙌🏻
Thank you so much for the kind words and for referring others to our Learn Archery videos! We definitely aren’t pros by any means but happy to help where we can. Perhaps we can make a video including details on things that we do for certain shots that could help people. Thank you for the idea!
This is a hard question to answer without adding more context. A tension release and a hinge release can take longer to learn how to shoot properly, where as commanding a wrist strap can be learned fairly quickly, but will limit you on your overall accuracy in the long run for most people. What this really boils down to isn’t which release, it’s how you execute it. Learning to shoot with a surprise release execution can improve your archery game drastically and I would recommend learning it for every serious archer and bowhunter out there. A tension or a hinge release can make learning how to shoot with a surprise release easier, but a downside to it is you have to commit to it. If you practice with a hinge or a resistance release, I would highly encourage you to hunt with it as well, as long as you have put in the work to build confidence with it.
They work fine, but I prefer string and cables with served end loops personally. Not necessary to replace stock zebra strings if they came on the bow, but I usually put on after market strings and save the stock strings as back ups.
@@BowOnlyOutdoors how does the serving on the end loops help? I asked pro shop owner and he said Mathews purposely makes them that way so they can slip.
@@AngelZLopez I’ve seen them wear on the ends since the string fibers aren’t protected. Not typically an issue, but it’s a weak point not being protected. It also makes twists in the string and cables less consistent since you can be turning just part of the loop and not the full string. Zebra does make them that way on purpose so you can twist individual string strands in the loop for peep twist and very small adjustments in the cables. I’m just personally not as much of a fan of them for the reasons I listed above. There’s nothing wrong with them and they work just fine, but I prefer others.
@@jaronmarkland3842 I am looking for that myself. I haven’t looked that much just doing a lot of shooting in backyard. Limited to about 50 yards though and a couple of 3D targets
@@tomaslong I prefer it heavier, especially for hunting. it’s set at about 23 lbs. My holding weight on the bow is around 14. If I hunted with a thumb I would punch it every time because of how pumped up I get. The tension release keeps me in my shot and I can get it to fire within a second without forcing it. It all comes down to confidence with it. If you don’t have it, it won’t work.
I have a Love/Hate for the TAC. If archer will learn their effective range from this shoot then it’s a Love, if an archer thinks they can try and harvest an animal at distances they can’t hit the ten ring 100% at TAC then it’s a Hate.
@@BowOnlyOutdoors did you do Snowbird as well? We did Colorado, and had so much fun we’re for sure coming out west again next year. We’re thinking Big Sky, Park City or Snowbird. It’s so much better out west, just when you think you’re a pretty good shot around Wisconsin, you go out west and it’s a whole bunch of humble pie!!! It’s so different, but way more fun!!
We just shot Terry Peak, SD and Park City this year! Snowbird looks like a ton of fun as well! These Utah events are some of our favorite trips of the year!
This dude is always so positive. “Idk where it hit but it felt good” on every shot, even a miss. I wish I could be that optimistic.
My favourite parts of the TAC videos are the fun smiles and the amazing slo-mo footage. I love watching those long bomb shots! Thanks guys!
Thank you! Glad you enjoy it!
Great shooting fellas! Love yall's positive attitudes on the course. Looking forward to checking out more of your content!
Great video! One of the best shoot videos I've seen. Way to keep the interest up, due to great editing and the great video of shots in flight!
You guys truly have the best bow channel on RUclips for learning how to shoot and shoot good
We appreciate the kind words! Archery, bowhunting, and helping others learn about both is our true passion!

8:11 epic slow mo of shooting over the target… followed by “nice shootin!” 🧐😂
Haha it looked like it! You can see the orange arrow in the following clip of the target!
that sound was wild
Awesome content gents, I really enjoy these videos. Looked like a hell of a day and heaps of fun!
This is awesome
Had a blast shooting that course. The entire event was awesome!
Can you guys do an archery tag video one day? hahaha
Great video gents, looks like a heck of a shoot. What bino harness and rangefinder holder is Micah running?
I have the Marsupial harness and a Vortex rangefinder that clips onto the side of my bino harness!
@@BowOnlyOutdoors Awesome, thanks for the info.
Good shooting , good times
Great filming, editing and shooting fellas! Subscribed!
Thank you!
I don't know, but the video felt good when I watched it!! 😉😉

What are the pros and cons to shooting a back tension or hinge release compared to a wrist strap release

Wow, your courses have much more distance shots than ours in NZ. Can I ask what weight arrows you run to shoot such distances?
@@johnsutherland734 it makes for some fun shooting! We run just our standard hunting arrows which are around 460 grains.
Phenomenal shooting!🤙
Thank you!

Great and fun video!!! Do you have any videos on recommendations and uses for binoculars and harnesses? Would greatly appreciate it. 😃
The Marsupial bino harness works great! I recommend getting the best binoculars you can afford, especially for hunting.
Love this, coming from Savannah, GA I would be light headed with that much elevation. Looks very fun and you guys look like you would be competitive
You know of any shoots around you? I’m in hinesville and cannot find any 3D shoots
@@jaronmarkland3842 I am looking for that myself. I haven’t looked that much just doing a lot of shooting in backyard. Limited to about 50 yards though and a couple of 3D targets
Be sure and add a “Dunno where it hit... but, That felt really really good guy” to your archery stereotypes!🖖🏽😂👍🏽
What arrows are you using for these shoots? I’d be scared to ruin the good ones I already have lol
Easton Axis 5mm and Victory RIP TKO!
Micah's arrow hit the same hole mine did on Saturday.
One day I’ll get to the us and do a total archery challenge
What was the gold resistance release you were shooting called
Stan Element
Josh has been in the pump house putting in work
Do you hunt with the element how do you find it
Yes I do. It slows me down just enough to keep from rushing the shot, but never costs me a missed shot opportunity.
Cheers I have an element and a sx3 just seeing if I should give the element a chance hunting. You must have it set relatively light.
