    I won't lie. The scene where they were marching while coming home from deployment shed a tear. Only because I was hoping that someone would be there to surprise me that I made it home alive from deployment. I looked around, didn't see anyone, and then went the bleachers checking my phone to see if at least anyone texted me. Was the saddest moment of my life.

      Dude, I'm going to 1-up you here. I came back a week early and my wife was nowhere to be found? Got home that night just in time to see her ex boyfriend drop her off...

      *****
      Brother I'm sorry. You see the wives and kids holding signs, the hugging, the kissing etc. Yet no on ever sees beyond that. Deployment isn't just about war it's about what you come home to. Which none of my non military friends, who just told me to get over it or just kicked my ass to the curb, will ever understand. First Strike, 2014 OEF

      You know it brother. I can meet a random veteran and instantly start a conversation that people around us think we've been friends our whole lives. There's just something about it can't really be explained or captured in film.

      ***** I never served, but I salute you gentlemen. Someone cares. I may not agree with all you do, but I know war has no winners. Jesus loves you. Give your lives to him. He cares even when no one else is around.

      ***** Wish I could tell you an awesome movie like story where I kicked his ass but real life is seldom so romantic. I didn't know who dropped her off till later that week when her best friend, racked with guilt told me who it was. My wife and this guy were locals so no one would help me find him. Price you pay for hooking up with one of the local base rats. I just divorced her and moved on. That being said, I've had buddies from back home who's old ladies bailed one them while they were deployed too, so I guess it's just a luck of the draw wether you get a good woman or not and it don't really matter where you met them.

    "I reenlisted"
    "Why would you do that?!"
    This would be funny in a real military situation.

    I'm from Iraq, I watched the movie today..... I was surprised that I didn't know it or watch it before. I saw it by chance on Dubai One..... I won't go into details but the truth is told..... The brilliant actress micheIIe ..... She was really amazing. I have watched nearly 400 films so far. This movie will be immortalized in my memories of the talent of the actress..... I hope to communicate with her and tell her what a very talented woman and I admire your performance.

    I grew up in a country full of soldiers and bombs and death, and most of my childhood was just that. it's easy for you to say you are fighting for your country but you truly don't know the whole story. everyone suffers and everyone makes choices. commenting on youtube isn't really going to make a difference.

    I hate the attitude of Ron Livingston's character, "You'll fight for your country but you won't fight for your son." If men and women hadn't of reenlisted in our all-volunteer armed forces, we would never of had the numbers to fight our wars. I'm not even referring to our wars in Iraq or Afghanistan. Re-enlistments saved our asses in the Revolution and the Civil War.

    • @AYellowSun
      @AYellowSun 10 лет назад +1

      The point is the have Ron Livingston's character say those stupid things so that we can deal with them as an audience. There are lots of people who feel that way and they don't have to address those prejudices except by watching films like this.
      There's a whole culture that goes along with serving in the military that most Americans know nothing about so I'm glad to see films such as this that don't show and address the imperfect in these heroes lives.

      WellDamn24 Your military is your blood line. The US , maybe, trillion in debt, but its military reign supreme, in land, water and air. It has the genes, skills, techs, leaders, heroes and functioning democratic government. Moreover, a huge land mass that is self-sustaining and continue producing resources.
      Among the capables:
      Russia may have the genes, skills and heroes, and can build up techs easily, but their leaders and government over lap with greed and corruption. That consumed them and prevent them from being great.
      China may have all the material resources but their lack of morals and ultimate unrelenting greed will make them great. Everyone will fear them, yet, not admired and respected. This is another story.

      I'm a military spouse and if I"m being honest I often think like that too! I understand men and women enlist for the good of others but it sucks just as bad to feel second to the military, b/c the harsh truth is that you are.

    • @xyPERSON
      @xyPERSON 10 лет назад +4

      His character has a point though. Being in your child's life is more important than fighting for your country. I love this country but admittedly we have treated our soldiers and veterans like crap. Do you honestly think that the government and the military is going to take care of her and her son once she returns home for good? Of course not. She's going to find herself unemployed and struggling to get by like everyone else who lives paycheck to paycheck and can barely pay the bills, keep a roof over their head, and keep food on the table, etc. In the end, the only thing that matters is family.

  • @CrniWuk

    Ah. Another war movie from US perspective. I get it, I get it. Soldiers have it tough. Soldiers have to suffer a lot. And so on. Yeah. But. As far as I know they chose their life to be like that. Is there one US soldier who did not voluntairily decided to join their military? And what about the other side. We are all humans.

And for u to say something so ungrateful and idiotic as that then u really need a reality check. If u took one look at the pay grade for a men or women in the military u would understand its no where near what they deserve. And also military combat medics are some of the bravest most courageous and self sacrificing people in our military.

    Yet another film about a women acting like a man. This "actress" walks like a man talks like a man. Women are not soldiers in the army they are military personal. Don't give me that chick that did that thing that time. There are no combat females in the infantry. They do basic training and do not have to do what men do in order to pass that. There is not one second of footage or a single photograph of a female in uniform shooting at or being shot at by the enemy. Nothing. Women need to show some humility about what it is they are capable of. You cannot just flick a switch and be a man.

    • @scottjohnstone2620

      Thought they opened up most units to female recruits.

    • @fald2000
      @fald2000 10 лет назад +1

      +Scott Johnstone Apparently they have. But it does not mean that any females have passed the requirements. Being a clerk in an Artillery battalion is not the same as a grunt in the infantry. During WWII the female personal in 'Anti-Aircraft' crews did NOT load and fire(aim) the gun. When someone joins the army they do basic training and then go to the 40 corners of the Army. Combat arms like Artillery Infantry and Armour are all male and have always been, all male.

    • @scottjohnstone2620
      @scottjohnstone2620 10 лет назад +1

      fald2000 Yea I know atleast in Australia that they opened up 95% of units to female recruitment, but like ya said they still gotta pass the requirements.

    • @fald2000
      @fald2000 10 лет назад

      +Scott Johnstone Last I heard only 20 females (out of @ 6000 to 7000 female Aust Military personnel) had applied for various combat related roles including a few for Navy Clearance Divers in the Aust military. Lets see how they like swimming across Sydney harbour at night. Lets see any woman jump out of a plane at night, in the rain (not even once). I have not heard of any chick passing in any Army anywhere that have EVEN met the same physical requirements etc as men. Let alone as above. Even Norway etc. If a chick in the military anywhere had passed Infantry training and was ready and able to deploy they would have made a Movie of The Week about her by now. The way "they" will get around this is to get the chick to be an Officer in the Combat Arms, not as a grunt.
      This recently happened in the Aust Army. They put a female Officer in an Artillery Battalion. She was put in charge of a battery of guns. It is not a hard or difficult job for her. She does not have to do the "grunt" work. Her back and knees will be fine (unlike the men). The Artillery effectively do not see the result of their weapons. Their enemy targets are 10, 20 30 km away. Ditto Combat pilots. Their is virtually no PTSD in the Navy and Air Force. They do not see the results of their weapons. That is were most of the female military personnel are.
      There are not even any female Baggage Handlers at the airport let alone a "Bullet Chucker" in the Military.
