I don't necessarily judge someone for going into that line of work, despite his political leanings he is working class and thus "has to" sell his labor somehow. to take it so seriously without compartmentalizing and separating it from who you are is where the problems arise. to separate work from your personality can be extremely challenging to do, we all tend to become what we do for most of the day for money. harder still is when you are on the spectrum and tend to go all-in on things. this might be the case for him, who knows but I tell ya hwhat, becoming more of a marketing guy, letting that bleed into your psyche is bleak. being trapped making youtube videos when you don't even really care to is also a pretty harrowing thing. I have this guy i work with who tells people he's autistic. He's just an asshole. Unless Flynn is a doctor who can say what behaviors are autistic and what behaviors are just him being a dumbass, it's just an excuse stemming from the latter.
@Ichijou_Matsomoku308 then you should know it’s a spectrum with three different support levels , try educating yourself and open the dsm5 instead of gate keeping something you don’t know anything about
One day he might realise that crapping on bands and their fans, saying (as he always does) their their music is objectively bad and the fans must have social problems to like them, isn't something you can just call a joke and expect no comeback. It's not like these are slip ups. He has a whole channel dedicated to effectively trolling bands/genres and their fans, and seems genuinely surprised people react negatively to it.
I really like Finn and I really do not want to hate the guy. But watching his takes on Babymetal and Japanese metal bands in general and their fans honestly made me want to see the dude thrown into a meat grinder. Not saying I actually want that to happen to him, it’s just that was my initial reaction. If his goal was to piss people off like that, then he was successful. But it seems his “humour” was missing the punchline that was supposed to bring the audience around. All it did was kept the racist and sexist boomers in his audience who found it funny and chased away fans who could have provided new ideas for situations like this.
@@jaegermeister798 Was that the one where he said that the only reason you could like Babymetal is if you are 'into little girls'? I'm not a fan of the band, but a lot of respected figures in metal are. A chunk of that came across as him trying to disprove that he is into Asian women, and so that's not why he has a Vietnamese wife. Much did also fit into his general dislike for non-American bands. While it isn't such an obvious source of criticism, he does keep banging on about bands 'nor being bands the cool kids in school were listening to'. Who cares? Who seriously judges bands by that criteria?
I hate when people use “I’m autistic” as a victim card and as an excuse for X,Y, and Z… bro every single human on this planet is a weirdo. No need for excuses.
As a father of an autistic kid, I can't tell you how many times I have heard "he doesn't look like it." Sure, my kid is high functioning but be around him long enough and you see the patterns. I'm not saying Finn is or isn't but maybe we should cut the dude some slack just to be some what decent people. I don't know. Just a thought.
People love playing the victim to garner sympathy, especially online creators - and Finn McKenty has been called out for this "poor me" stuff previously. I also thought his earlier videos were great and I hope he finds some help - he seems pretty unhappy overall.
He could learn that his personal taste isn't an objective truth, and if you are going to critique a band, just saying 'this is just terrible, and their fans are losers' is a dreadful way to express it.
@@RevStickleback that's what I mean w/ the "mba" joke. He doesn't THINK Taylor swift is good and All Ska is bad. He knows it. He's an annoying fan that hates annoying fans.
Oh and he needs to stop treating music like sports. Talking about business makes sense in sports with stats and numbers because performance is objective. But in music, success is more subjective because it relies upon reaching an audience and whether they like your art or not.
I never really liked why he used those metrics almost exclusively to judge the merit of music, but this sums it up pretty well. And he really likes some abrasive stuff, but he justifies and praises so many musicians because they are popular, so it must be respected.

*EDIT* *It looked like this comment was posted twice but when I tried to delete the copy, both went away. Sorry if you get this comment multiple times. I’m a dummy. Dan, I’m a big fan of your channel and like Finn. I have mixed feelings about the Finn video you’re reacting to. On one hand, I sympathize with anyone who dives into creative pursuits because I know it can be draining and not as rewarding as the creator hoped it would be. I also completely understand him not liking negative feedback. I’m definitely prone to taking things a little too personally. Having said all that, there are some major problems with his video. If he’s not happy with his own content, that’s his own fault. He doesn’t HAVE to make videos he doesn’t like; he CHOOSES to because they are more profitable and successful than ones that reflect his broader interests and personality. I sympathize with him on that. That must be a gut punch. However, he of all people knows that he isn’t owed a living doing commentary videos. This is his hobby. Sure, he wants it to be his job, but that’s not an excuse to push out mediocre videos that he doesn’t like. It’s like when bands release music. Fans like different albums in a discography than the musicians in said bands. Sometimes bands want to go in a different direction than what fans want them to go in. The album an artist is most proud of might be a commercial flop. It bums out the artist. But if they keep releasing mediocre versions of the album that made them popular, that’s their choice. No matter which road you take, if you’re involved in a creative project, you’re going to have people who don’t like it. He’s not owed a living from giving his opinions. In a perfect world, we could all make money doing what we love. That’s not the case for most people. As a business focused person, he knows this. It comes across like he wants the positive reinforcement and revenue generated from the internet but none of the downsides. This is true for most people. He frequently equates the financial success of bands as them being “better” than less popular bands. He’s seeing first-hand that that’s not always true. Sometimes the video he works the hardest on, and considers the best, bombs. He’s a big fan of capitalism and the free market, but not when it’s applied to his RUclips channel. I can’t speak for everyone but sometimes I dislike his personality in videos because it's immature and unfunny imo. He would constantly talk about virgins vs Chads. At first, I thought he was talking that way to make fun of people who speak and think like that. It’s incel like language. Of course, I don’t believe he’s an incel. He seems like a nice, average dude. Despite that, some of the language he uses and things he says lead me to believe that he might have some outdated views in regards to gender and gender roles. I can’t give you specific examples because they are quips sprinkled into his videos that you wouldn’t notice as a causal viewer. Over time, I noticed a pattern in the way he talks and thinks and it's suspect at times. Again, I wish I could provide example beyond the overuse of the virgins/Chad meme but nothing is popping into my mind right now. It seems like he like the sound and aesthetic of hardcore punk but disagrees with a lot of its main ethos. He seems like a dude that would say he likes RATM’s music but hates their lyrics. In reality, their music was the vehicle that delivers the message and the message IS THE WHOLE POINT. I remember him saying he doesn’t like the Dead Kennedys because a lot of political punk just sounds like complaining. I understand what he’s saying but that’s not the point. Liking punk but not Dead Kennedys is a personal preference but it’s a red flag to me. It’s valid, but tells me we probably like punk for very different reasons. The point of political punk / left-wing ideology isn’t to just complain about stuff and pat ourselves on the back on how correct we are. The point is self-expression, making others feel less alone and hopefully become a more empathetic, engaged person. He talks about missing bands like Guttermouth and The Vandals, who had a sense of humor. I agree that preachy, self-serious people are annoying but a lot of the humor he likes is outdated and he has a hard time accepting that. Seriously, go listen to “Fourteen” by The Vandals. I know it’s satire. This song may have been funny to dudes in the 90’s / 2000’s but the culture has changed. I think the culture has changed for the better but other people will disagree. I’m not condemning the entire Vandals catalog or anything that doesn’t match my sensibilities, but I’m pointing out generational differences. Him saying that he’s probably autistic is also whack to me. It’s a word people throw around too freely to excuse their cruddy behavior rather than do some introspection and try to better themselves. He maybe autistic, but it’s not an excuse to be a jerk. He gives off the male version of “I’m not like other girls” vibes. I’m torn about how society discusses disability and mental health issues. I struggle with both those things and on one hand, I’m glad people are allowed to be more open about their difficulties. On the other hand, there’s a section of people who throw around words and self-diagnosis so often that it dilutes the discussion. People use autistic as a replacement for “socially awkward "disagreeable” and “weird’ when they shouldn’t. Disability and lack of acceptance are real problems. Sometimes people use disability as a shield from criticism. It’s OK to have problems and to be frank about them. It’s another thing when you make your problems, other people’s problem. He comes across as a contrarian that can’t handle naysayers who act the same way as he does but disagree with his viewpoint. He talks about being analytical, but he comes across as arrogant. Like, “I’m just spitting facts and anyone who disagrees with me is too emotional and lacks critical thinking skills.” It reminds me of certain comedians who want to say whatever they want but if the crowd reacts in a different way than what the comedian wanted, there must be something wrong with the audience. The audience is “too sensitive,” “Doesn’t understand” or wants to “cancel them.” It’s like, “No dude, we’re just reacting in a way that’s natural for and giving back the combative vibe you’re giving out. I know Finn doesn’t mean it like that but oof. Anyway, ain’t nobody gonna read this. It’s too long and incoherent. I just wanted to vent. I’m sure the point of Finn’s video was to do the same thing. My goddddddd talk about first world problems. Really? The biggest stress in your life is internet trolls?? Like Dave Chappelle said “the internet isn’t a real place”. I don’t think he realizes how privileged he is compared to the average person in his age range. This is coming across as incredibly tone deaf. People who will never see the kind of success you have don’t want to hear you complain about how bad you have it. 🙄
So Finn "I code people with autism as 'those people who spend their evenings alphabetizing their record collection' so I can get away with it in my videos" mckenty is now saying he has autism. Well, well, well, how the turntables. Maybe if he went to negative comments and say "hey can we have a calm discussion about your view on the video, and how I could approach it in a different manner, that is informative to the metal/punk community", then he wouldn't be in the situation he is now. It's called marketing. A question though; does anyone know why his wifes channel has been stripped bare? I know she was making shitty videos like "I'm scared my child will become non-binary". Anything to do with that shit?
Oh his wife’s channel 😂. Just lolcow content with random videos about how her dad escaped communism and two weird videos moaning Asian men. Just as whacky as Finnegan 😂😂
The last 10 minutes of this video up until the final thoughts song was amazing!🎉 Im not into scamming people but I kind of wish I could make that $1,000 Skype call to McKenty and then have the check I would pay him with bounce or something.
I often find myself wishing I was I sh*tty heartless person. I’d totally be a romance scammer. Or a psychic medium. Or a megachurch preacher. Basically any kind of scammer. 💰
You love disagreeing with Finn so much when he tries to put himself down you build him up. I originally liked Finn's Wikipedia style videos because I don't like these genres or know anything about them, but I like learning the history and about these subcultures. What turned me off is as he said was his " personality and opinions" . Most of that is subjective but just my opinion
The only four-letter word we don't say is 'Finn'. You wanna talk about Finn Balor? Nah son, he's Prince Devitt or shut your mouth. I'm almost definitely autistic, ok, take care.
I’m a sensitive guy and I see where he’s coming from but bro, make more nu metal videos. What a stoke way to make a living! I’d be pumped to shoot boring videos. You can always make stuff you care about on another channel. I work in telemarketing and janitorial work and play music on the side. I’d looove to switch jobs with Finn.
Yesss. I’ve been arguing with people on his most recent video about generations (which you should check out). As usual he posted a video about something he had no idea what he was talking about in. Years ago McKenty made some cool videos, even if he likes to come off as much more knowledgeable than he actually is. He made a video like this, and then went on to make a video of a “generation tier list” where he literally got the generations wrong. Not a second of research or even a single google search to prep for his video. Dude has become a clown. I’m still subbed because I’ve hoped he would go back and discuss various business aspects of punk and the music industry, which he was good at and was an interesting little niche for himself. But no, let’s do a generation tier list and videos about K Pop fashion or whatever.
I remember him talking about how he dabbled with drugs for a couple years because one of his parents was an alcoholic. And I’m genuinely sorry that’s the case for him but damn, that sounds like the same back story for me and every one of my friends growing up. His channel is literally filled with him trashing fans of bands and stereotyping people because “this is a band for people who ______”. I do genuinely sympathize with people who had bad things happen to them or had bad upbringings but when he’s on the internet saying stuff like “I have a house so I don’t care that millennials are having trouble getting houses.”, and countless other bad and combative takes he should at least expect that he’s going to get some angry feedback and comments.
I honestly wondered what your reaction to this would be wheb i watched it. I know I felt kind of bad for him, as it seems like he is totally dependant on the views at this point for his financial and mental health.
anyone with two braincells to rub together wants him run out of the business like John Finberg. Hell John Finberg was more useful to the scene than Punk McFakey.

I don’t think he realizes how privileged he is compared to the average person in his age range. This is coming across as incredibly tone deaf. People who will never see the kind of success you have don’t want to hear you complain about how bad you have it. 🙄
I hate finn
To the point.
I like you for hating Finn.
Oh shit, I had no idea. Maybe she's super religious, it seems to be an irrational fear that those kind of people have
@@RisqueBrusque Finn's mentioned her sister, and that she's super transphobic. So it's potentially an upbringing thing
Oh his wife’s channel 😂. Just lolcow content with random videos about how her dad escaped communism and two weird videos moaning Asian men. Just as whacky as Finnegan 😂😂
I like that the one metric he shared for one of his "worst performing videos" still had an 86% like ratio. Boohoo
The last 10 minutes of this video up until the final thoughts song was amazing!🎉
Im not into scamming people but I kind of wish I could make that $1,000 Skype call to McKenty and then have the check I would pay him with bounce or something.
I often find myself wishing I was I sh*tty heartless person. I’d totally be a romance scammer. Or a psychic medium. Or a megachurch preacher. Basically any kind of scammer. 💰
i have a black cat too, he's an old man
My little guy is a big, fat, middle aged boy. Haha black cats forever!
And orange and black cats too😎😎😎😎
My cats made me type that.
4:27 noooooo …. Poor baby 😂😅
I bet your Sleep Apnea sends McKenzie's away on a stretcher
Your obsession with this man is sad
This is pretty funny. I couldn't give a fig about either of ya though.
You love disagreeing with Finn so much when he tries to put himself down you build him up. I originally liked Finn's Wikipedia style videos because I don't like these genres or know anything about them, but I like learning the history and about these subcultures. What turned me off is as he said was his " personality and opinions" . Most of that is subjective but just my opinion
he's asking his audience for ideas to turn around and flip on video calls, pretty freaking smart if you ask me
Infinite money glitch. I knew he was a Runescape guy
The only four-letter word we don't say is 'Finn'. You wanna talk about Finn Balor? Nah son, he's Prince Devitt or shut your mouth. I'm almost definitely autistic, ok, take care.
HAHAHAHAHA. Bro, I love this comment
As mexican for me he is pegasus kid 2
Awww man that’s kinda 💩 that it effects him that drastically
at about 18:30 where youre like I GUESS I JUST GOTTA KEEP MY VIDEOS i felt that in my soul
You have to make your reputation being honest, and you know, unmerciful, said a wise man once.
I think the winner of this beef is also Kendrick
Was the generation tier list where he confused the silent generation with the greatest generation, and left the latter off the list?
17:40 cringe and soul breaking
Ive never watched you or him before this but its very obvious this man lives rent free in your head
This video comes off as super obsessive
Let that discourse happen. ... Nice, I like that 👍
I love how you’re strong arming him into making better videos. I totally get it now. He has more potential
Nice intro 😎hello to your 🐱friend ❤
what we do here is go back back back back back
I love the new angle
That sad drum kit is very disappointing for gate keeper.
A sad drum kit is actually a trophy in the punk scene. You got it wrong this time bud.
People play shows with less.
@@18JR78 What's "a sad drum-kit"?
I didn't know they had emotions.
Maybe the drum kit is er...happy in its own skin?????!!!!! #drums2 #DLM🤘
Lmao saw this coming when he posted that vid.
38:01 holy smokes
as much as i dislike F,M without knowing him I just can't hate on the Endeavor, Harvest, Another Victim flyer on the wall.
21:01 so so manipulative! Grrrrrrr
15:41 nailed it
Where's Dan in this video?
12:19 ruthless is the way you gotta be
Finn needs help and advice. I'll lay off the jokes because he's talked about his past and he has some serious issues.

Ah ben tabarnak. In all seriousness though, I need to see you two on a podcast. I refuse to believe this beef is true 😂
Great intro!
Will someone please get this man some more likes?
pleeeeeeease 🙏😫
@@danframpt0n I like your style AND your videos. Down with "Feels" posts and creator confessionals, hear hear!
Love the intro
I honestly wondered what your reaction to this would be wheb i watched it. I know I felt kind of bad for him, as it seems like he is totally dependant on the views at this point for his financial and mental health.
🍚 🌾 🍛 🍚 🌾 🍛
He’d feel better if he knew the good aspects of his content. It’s normal to get inside your head, but he’s acting like nobody likes him
🎻🎼🎵🎶🎶😭😭😭😭🤧
Nice new intro 🙃
End Gang 🥞

Why do you hate this dude so much?
anyone with two braincells to rub together wants him run out of the business like John Finberg. Hell John Finberg was more useful to the scene than Punk McFakey.
Your funny bro
Dude , you're trying too hard to seem "legit" 😂😂😂
L take no rizz.
.......🙄😮💨😒....k bud
Bad faith comment
He could always be the righty he’s always been and make grifter content 😂 those people see to enjoy “creators” shaking them down for money.
