Am asking cos my husband who is the main applicant has gotten his visa while we the dependents passports are still at the DMC, meanwhile we did our biometrics same day.

Hi Ada, did you apply for your NIN while still in an Airbnb? Or after you found a house. I’m currently in a hotel while searching for a house and I don’t how much longer I’ll be here. So not sure if I should apply now or wait. It’s almost 2 weeks now in the UK and no house/job yet.

No you will need to know how to speak,read and write English...the rest depends on you
None of the jobs you mentioned are well paid jobs. None of the jobs you mentioned full time earn more than 24,000 GBP yearly before tax. So after tax (20%) and NI deductions take home pay is about 1,600 GBP monthly. You'll still pay rent (small apartment - 700 GBP, energy bills- 300 GBP), you are left with 600 GBP. Then you still have feeding, transport, clothing etc. This is why most Nigerians slave in 2 jobs to make ends meet. But with resilience and God's help if you stay focus and take up 3-6 months courses in cyber security, business analyst , PMO, devops engineer etc you can begin to apply for higher paying jobs.
So wen you come into the UK as a student or dependant ,you will start reading Tech courses together with the course you came to study,what will you live on for the 3-6month your dependant will be trying to improve his/herself....This is just survival jobs that pay more until you get your balance nobody said u should not grow while doing these jobs....🙏listen to understand and thanks for your input

Saying that people can’t work without NI number can be miss leading. I’ve stayed in the uk for 2years now and from my experience you can start work without NI number, all you need to do first before applying for work is to apply for your NI number. Most employers allow new employees to work so far you can prove that your NI number application has been sent. You don’t wait until your NI comes before you work or start applying for work rather it’s the other way round.
