    So i have just been going through some of the comments and i can see that some people are doubting that there are actually agencies who pay care assistants £16 per hour. i just uploaded some pay rates on my community tab so you can see for yourself. Mind you, there are agencies that even pay more than £16 per hour for care assistants. You just have to be willing to compare rates with other agencies around you before signing up and pick your shifts wisely.
    While it is possible to work and earn a lot of money in the UK, pls also know that it is not easy as well. if you watch some videos from my dependants playlist you will realise this fact. check out these ones below to get an insight into what life abroad is.

      why do you think they died because of night shift? do you know if they had other underlying health conditions? it's like saying some people had a road traffic accident and died therefore no body should travel by road again.
      Excessive night shifts without allowing the body to rest is bad. there are people that have been doing nights for years and retired as night workers and they are perfectly fine. The most important thing is to find a balance and stay as fit and healthy as possible. Eat well, drink enough water, rest well and you will be fine

People who died must have some underlying health conditions they didn’t manage properly. Stop making assumptions here. Can you produce the autopsy report of those that does doing night shifts? So we can confirm if it’s states they died due to night shift.

    Most agencies do not give such rates,so ask about the rates. Plus I used to work as a Support Worker and even as Health care at night. Nights are not easy as she says. You are struggling against sleeping at night, you have to mop floors, do washing and ironing and check the residents and do personal cares. It’s no easy. Also if you do one to one, that person may suddenly get up at night so you have to carefully put them back to bed. They may need the toilet, pad change a drink or something to eat. They may even hit you or be confused behaviour you have to deal with. Please do healthcare work if you care about people it takes a lot out of you! It’s not all about money! It’s now very difficult to get Support and Care work.

    • @ScholasticaUgboka
      @ScholasticaUgboka  Год назад +7

      Those rates are very common in my area, if it's lesser than that people won't sign up
      with the agency. there are agencies that even pay more than £16 per hour for care assistants in Northern ireland. maybe it's just where you live that the pay is poor. And about the work load, both day and night is stressful but it is more stressful during the day. you may think Night is stressful for you because your body did not adapt to working at night. i dread day shifts cause i always go home very stressed up and too many activities happen in the day.
      You have to serve and feed Breakfast, lunch and dinner and don't forget the tea trolleys, you also have to deal with washes, showers, baths, endless toileting rounds, relatives and other MDTs going and coming. see ehn it's all based on personal preference. Day shift is stressful for me. Nights are quieter and 1:1 shifts doesn't have to be all dramatic like you described here. some of them sleep all night and may just wake up once or twice to wander.
      You are right about the work taking a lot out of you that is why you should be strategic and see the money you are working for. The same UK that people are Killing themselves with work is the same that someone is having easy shifts and making money. Just because one person found it hard doesn't make it the norm for others

    Good advise but when it comes to night shifts yes it’s better because like you say the residents are sleeping and you don’t do much like day shifts
    But you find out there is more work(chores) for night shift staff and the staffing level is less than that for days and shifts can be different and you can have busy nights
    And when it comes to responsibilities you are realisable and responsible for what you do I have seen this happening

    The tips are helpful but just to say that people make the mistake of thinking that agency work pays more than permanent work but that is not really true. Agency/temp work pays more per hour because the annual leave and public holiday and sometimes even pension pay is bundled up in the pay. Unfortunately when people don't take this into consideration, they work themselves to death and never take the holidays they are paid to take. When I work temp jobs (teaching though), I set aside a percentage of my monthly pay to serve as my holiday pay and take my holidays in peace. People look after yourselves. There is more to abroad life than working and chasing money.

    • @ScholasticaUgboka
      @ScholasticaUgboka  Год назад +2

      But my agencies pays for my annual leave as public holiday pay, they also enrol their staffs in a pension scheme which you can opt out from and i also got maternity pay from my agency when i was on maternity leave. the pay was even more than what my permanent job was paying me during maternity leave

    • @menvicstudio

      @@ScholasticaUgboka Sounds great! If as an agency worker you can get full maternity pay, sick leave pay, employer pension contributions, public holiday and anual leave pay, then that is incredible! There is also the down side of career progression which is quite difficult to attain doing only temp and agency jobs.

    There is no way on God's earth that a ordinary care assistant can become a millionaire doing care work and let me warn people out there that nothing is for nothing they will make you work to the bone for your money. I am a live in carer and it's very very hard work. Yes you can earn quite good money but it comes a big price and not to mention these people are not grateful and be abusive so you have to be mentally and physically strong. It's not easy but if you willing to struggle for a while it's ok.

      If you have ever worked in your home country b4 coming to uk,,, trust me, nothing is hard here as they claim...living care and domiciliary care is the worst care job i will advise anyone to go into.{ my perception though}
      you will have no time for yourself, family and other things except for the few days you are out...when you do living care, you literarily work 24 hours and earn even lesser than those that worked 12 hours daily for only 4 days a week.

    • @ScholasticaUgboka
      @ScholasticaUgboka  11 месяцев назад

      my agency sorts out the tax and just pays me the rest.
      As a nurse working a normal shift. after tax, pension and holiday pay deductions my take home is around £260 per shift. now imagine i'm working 4 nights a week that is 260x4 = £1040 per week. for one month i will take home £4160 and that is after all deductions. my permanent job doesn't pay me this much.

  • @okayodeolusegun2989
    @okayodeolusegun2989 11 месяцев назад

    You are not telling your followers that agency jobs don't pay holiday pay, sick pay, pension contribution and other retirement benefits.
    Agency jobs dont last as it might just be for 3 months or 6months and back to square lookong for another one.
    Be aware that your tax will be 40% when you earn above £40k per anum and national insurance contribution will also be higher and at the end of the day, the different between your take home and the other doing permanent jobs won't be much you are very good in calculation, just calculate it.
    Also, you won't be progressing in your career as you are always at the bottom level of your career with agency.

    • @ScholasticaUgboka
      @ScholasticaUgboka  11 месяцев назад +1

      The disadvantage is that you won't progress in your career and you don't get sick pay. my permanent job doesn't get sick pay as well. my agency pays me holiday pay, pension benefits too which is optional and they also paid me maternity pay when i was on maternity leave. the pay i got during maternity leave was even more than what my permanent job was offering. i have another video where i talked about this. my agency was paying me over £300 per week as maternity pay.
      i still think it depends on the agency and what they have to offer.
      i am registered with 3 agencies and they serve different purposes. one for higher pay, one for regular shifts and the other for shifts within my town where i live. there is always shifts available to me whenever i want to work it's just that i'm still under sponsorship so i can't do full time agency yet but those on dependant visas can do so and earn more. and even if i get taxed 40%, the take home is still more than my permanent job. i have done the calculations. As a nurse working a normal shift. after deductions my take home is around £260 per shift. now imagine i'm working 4 nights a week that is 260x4 = £1040 per week. for one month i will take home £4160 and that is after all deductions. my permanent job doesn't pay me this much and i work almost 5 nights a week there. in the long run, agency pays better.

      What permanent job are doing that doesn't pay you sick pay? Not all jobs are permanent jobs.
      Permanent jobs are mostly annual pay and everything is paid for at the month's end. If your salary is £48,000 per annum, you get £4,000 before tax, and that means your sick pay is included.
      If you are a public school teacher or police or civil servant or TFL staff, you will get double your annual retirement benefits and your employer will contribute some % toward your pension. No agency/contractor does that.
      With a permanent job in some corporate organization, your salary can rise to over 100k a year depending on your job as you progress with CPD.

In mine, Christmas, New year and Easter are the only holidays that get enhanced pay.

      Most care homes are privately owned, not government-owned. In some cases, the jobs in care homes are not permanent because the existence of a privately owned care home depends on the number of patients they have.
      Most public and civil service jobs don't pay holidays because they don't work on weekends, and they work 37.5 hours a week.
      Police, Prison officers, TFL staff, London Overground, and London Underground don't get holiday pay because they work on weekends most times but they get overtime pay.
      Nurses are the least paid in the UK. A graduate nurse in Band 5 starts at £28,047 (£30,069 in London) a year according to the NHS agenda for change pay while a customer service assistant with no degree certificate in London Underground starts with a salary of £36,500.

    Hmm, my husband got an agency job but no jobs for months, maybe 1 or 2 shifts in a 2 weeks. Na permanent shift be the best, then you can add agency to it.
    Last last, do what is best for you. No two agencies or areas are the same.

    • @ScholasticaUgboka
      @ScholasticaUgboka  11 месяцев назад

      Exactly, no 2 agencies or areas are the same that is why i'm registered with 3 agencies now. all serve for different purposes
