@@greatcanadianmoose3965 i dont know why im answering this literally 3 years later, but they dont talk about it at all in quebec, idk how it is in other provinces though
@@paper-samawinter4312 We basically never talk about the territories, however I know several people from or who work in the territories. The military brings people there, I've met a couple people from there, and my neighbour works there. I'm in NS btw
@@greatcanadianmoose3965 oh cool! I know about them mainly moreso out of personal curiosity, although I did know one person who had relatives there. It might be more of a Quebec thing; a lot of our education is geared towards our own province and french canadian culture specifically, which isn't great. Non french speakers are also less likely to move here. (you replied so fast lol)
@@paper-samawinter4312 Lol yes the language barrier is huge. Especially when it comes to jobs and friend groups. I'm curious, did they ever teach much bout the Acadians? My mom is Qubebecois and always said that they tend to neglect the French communities outside of Quebec, and all my Acadian friends hate going to quebec because people treat them poorly because of their accent lol. I don't speak french all that well though, but I worked in a museum for a few years mostly about acadian history. Can I say, they say "Ottawa" more accurate than Americans. I'm also surprised how knowledgeable they are considering they're further from us than US and US know like nothing about us.
There are loads of Japanese who think Ireland is part of the UK, and unlike you "polite" Canadians, Japanese don't look for excuses to insult other nationalities every chance they get. I'm American and I knew the capital was Ottawa.
Tommy boy Jeez chill, it wasn't an attempt of insulting the US, you guys do that yourself. And congratulations you're one in a very very few amount of Americans who know our capital even though it's completely reasonable to think it's Toronto because it's more known around the world. Please chill~
Just a reminder, I do not hate Americans or their country but I believe it's a little joke because we both know that USA couldn't care less about Canada. And that's okay, we're just a small population and aren't any threat to you.
Ana x I'm sorry. I just see so many comments from Canadians that are insulting and belittling I got the impression that you guys look down on Americans. A lot of people not just in Canada do, and that's a shame. We're a very big nation, only a few of us are totally in line with stereotypes.
I like how one of them said that Canada doesn't get along with the USA. It's actually the opposite, we get along very well. And I'm kind of disappointed that none of them said hockey because we Canadians are crazy about hockey.
"What comes to mind when you think about Canada?" Me: Maple syrup. 0:04 "Maple Syrup." Nice to know that that's a first thought regardless of even our cultural boundaries, hahahah.
These kinds of videos are always a lot of fun to watch! 0:51 "America is very free" When I read that I heard a bald eagle screeching in the back of my mind..
Omg! This is great. Haha. As a Canadian, Im very proud of these people for successfully pointing out all that we are truly known for. :) Great vid, Rachel and Jun! I am so, so happy that Japan has come a long way from the Sailor Moon RPG where we lived on the inside of giant trees and had no electricity (while Tokyo was a bustling metropolis).
Cath Lemire I love Canadian stereotypes. They are hilarious. Lol! Have you seen any of the South Park episodes that depict Ottawa as the equivelant of Oz? So awesome. I live in Ottawa, too. So, that made it more hysterical. But yeah, Ive heard the igloo and fisherman thing. Whats REALLY depressing is that Japan is so far away and yet answered the questions so well while some Americans have trouble identifying basic stuff about us. Lol
This made me really happy, it was actually pretty charming. I hope those people who were interviewed get a chance to come visit Canada... preferably when it's warm out!
I wonder what they thought of Native culture in Canada?? something that never seems to come up when talking about North America...damn it people we are still here...
I like how Japanese people are so humble and polite especially when they bow when they say thank you. Such respectful people :) PS..Canada love you Japan!
As a Canadian, I'm actually surprised anyone knew what the capital was outside of our country! I know some Canadians that don't even know themselves. Best part was when you admitted you didn't know who the Prime Minister is, hahaha. H'es not that great so don't feel bad
I'm a Canadian and the capital has never been an important or stressed piece of information here. The only real way a Canadian would know is if they've taken a special interest in the nation or hear it come up on the news. We don't have problems like the United States, so citizens spend more time focusing on their politics rather than our own.
+Sacha Desjardins Ask a Canadian what that island off of BC is called, and they will tell you it's called "Victoria Island". Well, other than people from Vancouver island or Vancouver.
Hi Rachel, Hi Jun! Lol American and Japanese thoughts on Canada seem to be pretty much the same. Maple Syrup, nature, cold, moose, bears, nice people. Negative stereotypes uh... More bears? That lie they call bacon? Strange mixes of French and English? Universal Healthcare? Idk. I've been to Canada a couple times and yeah the people there are really chill. It's nice. Also they don't fool around with their maple syrup, it's pretty great. I'd love to go back and see Niagara Falls someday.
Alyssa Schiffman Nothing wrong with universal healthcare! Think of it like Costco...the more people who sign up, the lower the prices we can get on things we need. And everyone needs healthcare. Maybe some people would prefer to have private healthcare through their steady job, but employment trends are changing. Young people are switching jobs more, working for smaller companies and start-ups which don't necessarily provide healthcare benefits. I would argue that if the US had universal healthcare, there would be more room for innovation. People entering the job market (or working people who want a change) could work at small innovative companies without fear that getting sick would bankrupt them. Just my thoughts!
I'm Canadian and this was neat to see. Though when they mentioned Beiber I cringed hard! Not surprised the falls and Toronto made the list. And it's not always cold, come to Toronto in July and bring shorts. The people you interviewed were so nice :) Makes me proud to be Canadian that they couldn't think of anything bad to say about us.
As a Canadian, this was really interesting. I was surprise how many knew the capital was Ottawa. Throughout my travels I've realized that most people don't and a lot have never even heard of Ottawa before. Hahah
They love it. I was in Japan for half a year and everyone gets pretty excited, when they heard I'm from Germany :) (and everyone wants to try our beer :D )

I was working at a language cafe in Tokyo a few months ago. Lots of people asked me if I liked maple syrup (I'm Canadian, woop woop!) and I said yes. The follow up would always be ehhhh do you put it on everything?? They meant like burgers and fries and all that jazz. But I don't. Apparently there was a TV programme that featured a Canadian who put it on burgers and sausages and everything in between xD People are so nice about Canada in Japan, it was really touching hearing what their answers were :)
Agreed, John Smith, I used to do it all the time haha but apparently this Canadian carried a bottle of it with him and whenever he ate out he would put maple syrup on his meal. So he also had it on sushi, noodles, etc. It was kinda funny to hear people being surprised that I don't put maple syrup on everything, just a select few things haha

Peter Tseng Yeah that is such a large difference between Japan and the UK! It's kind of hard to put into words but sometimes I felt so out of place in Japan, in the UK you'd never be stared at because of your race. It was quite an odd feeling for me.
Don't worry! If you ever get stared at, I will manage to help you out. Japan is really monoculture despite the amount of foreigners there. I am Taiwanese and feel it would be a lot better if people are more friendly toward others regardless of race.
I'm laughing at everyone saying "cold". I live on the west coast (Vancouver, we had the 2010 Olympics here) and we've had between 30C-40C temperatures for months. The week before last we were hotter than Jamaica and California, which isn't uncommon in summer. Plus a few of our provinces are dealing with brutal wildfires (in the hundreds) from all of the extreme heat and dryness, and we're having to fly in firefighters from Australia to help out. I don't even think it snowed more than one day here in the past two winters? Seriously guys, not all of Canada is cold. Plus British Columbia is gorgeous. Also, I'm dying at the bad stereotype is that we have nothing here! I'm more than happy to pretend we're all forest with no cities so we can stop overpopulation :P
Tiffany Elle I'm convinced Vancouver isn't even a part of Canada, everyone probably got lost when the maps were made. while It's around zero and snowing in most parts of southern Canada it's raining in Vancouver with 10 degree weather. People from Vancouver are traitors, how do you even get around if it's too warm to ride your polar bear?
Well considering how the globe and temperature on it works, it's not surprising that the western coast has milder temperatures than the interior. It's the same way in the United States.
The "waffles" bit caught me off guard. Did not actually know other countries associate waffles with us. Maple syrup, yes. Beautiful nature, yes, but the waffles were a wee bit of a surprise. Damn, but waffles are good though.
i remember when japanese students came to our school they were very nice to us and shared thier music as well! we loved what they gave us and vice versa! great people we would love to have them come visit! americans can drive us nutz sometimes but we love them too! yes even when they drive us nuts lol!

Irene Poziello First I dance in place for about 40 minutes doing this (ruclips.net/video/F_XaIuw6K6Q/видео.html), then I take a couple deep breaths, make eye contact with someone and walk toward them with a smile, and ask if they wouldn't mind me interviewing them. Historically I'd say I have a track record of people saying yes about 60% of the time.

+StormShaun Well Canberra doesn't really stand out compared to Sydney lol. Though neither does a boring ass city like Ottawa =P. Toronto & Sydney for life!

Glad we both can appriciate Yellowknife, the territories truly the most unique part bout canada. Also hope I don't sound like I'm interrogating you, I'm mostly curious since most of my friends are from the english speaking provinces, and my one friend who grew up mostly in quebec has family who was in the FLQ which is wild.
Can I say, they say "Ottawa" more accurate than Americans. I'm also surprised how knowledgeable they are considering they're further from us than US and US know like nothing about us.
Ana K
We're Sorry.
I'm Canadian and wow I'm flattered
I like how one of them said that Canada doesn't get along with the USA. It's actually the opposite, we get along very well.
And I'm kind of disappointed that none of them said hockey because we Canadians are crazy about hockey.
***** Same here lool
***** WTF lol i call defcon level 5 bullshit
***** But doesn't Canada sell like a ton of our lumber, electricity, and oil to the states? :o Weird!
I can't be trusted with hockey, all I do is accidentally hurt people D:
+Armin Artlert's Bae Remember to just say sorry. it's the canadian way!
Canada - 2k954
"What comes to mind when you think about Canada?"
Me: Maple syrup.
0:04 "Maple Syrup."
Nice to know that that's a first thought regardless of even our cultural boundaries, hahahah.
+The Chaotic Muffin "Cold" came to my mind first and I was surprised that most did not say that first. :P
I though "big"
As a Canadian it’s nice to see them struggle to say anything negative about us. Very kind. Cheers from the Ottawa Valley, Ontario, Canada 🇨🇦❤️🇯🇵
that's made me really proud! especially i'm half-japanese and half-french canadian YAY!
Their responses are so cute :) I love that none of them could think about any negative stereotypes... it made me very proud!!
My wife and I are going to Tokyo next year, can't wait! Japan seems to be pretty fantastic and from what I've seen, so are the people!
Cody Walsh The worst i've heard was that we lived in igloos and we all we're fisherman. Maybe its because i come from Quebec lol
Lol
Ahhhh i know, last time i was in new york i had to tell people i was from Toronto because no one knew were Montreal was lol
Cody Walsh Ahhhh i know, last time i was in new york i had to tell people i was from Toronto because no one knew were Montreal was lol
Cath Lemire Which is really sad because Montreal is one of our biggest cities. Lol.
As a Canadian over here, I'd like to say " come visit us! "
+Randompanda4465 Oh so you're the person who keeps inviting the immigrants. I am not happy about this!
+PianoXfan1 it's not just me ;-;
That's the problem. Too many damn liberals in Canada
I do not approve of Justin Trudeau, you can go file a complaint. xD
As a Canadian living in Japan right now, omg that was spot on hahaha. Loved it!! I get these answers all the time when I teach English LOL.
I really want to go to Canada too, My mother flew across the Atlantic when I was in her stomach to see Canada a bit and said it was amazing.
Quack Dragon her stomach? did she eat you? :P I think you mean *uterus*
***** we always said stomach, ik where children grow, it's just how we say things around here in my family
Quack Dragon well that's misleading
Well I hope you enjoy our great country, eh! We got some great sights, clean air, and generally like everyone, eh.
starforceleeexe lol I don't know any Canadian who says eh online as much as you did in 1 line.
This made me really happy, it was actually pretty charming. I hope those people who were interviewed get a chance to come visit Canada... preferably when it's warm out!
As a Canadian, you're all welcome to come at any time!!! We love having visitors/students/families/work trips. Or ya know, you could stay eh?
I wonder what they thought of Native culture in Canada?? something that never seems to come up when talking about North America...damn it people we are still here...
Aye there may be few of us be were still here!
this made my day, I'm from Canada so I'm glad people like our country and I'll answer any questions you may have about us!!
I like how Japanese people are so humble and polite especially when they bow when they say thank you. Such respectful people :)
PS..Canada love you Japan!
+ゆい714 Well actually I'm pretty sure we were taught in school what the capital was, but yes. Over here in the West we tend to forget about Ottawa XD
+Sacha Desjardins Ask a Canadian what that island off of BC is called, and they will tell you it's called "Victoria Island". Well, other than people from Vancouver island or Vancouver.
Thanks for this. They're so polite, knowledgeable, friendly and civilized. Those are pretty parks too.
***** da fuq is pea meal bacon? I live in Alberta, never heard of it.
+Sidney Smith
Isn't national healthcare considered "socialist" to many? I am just wondering.
***** yeah that was a joke.
Alyssa Schiffman Ah gotcha. I met some Americans recently who were opposed to universal healthcare so I'm on red alert lol
I love this video, they're really sweet! I hope that they come and see our country, not just Toronto, we have so much more ♡
I'm Canadian and this was neat to see.
Hahah
What Japanese think of Germany would be interesting :D
Yeah :o
Shinzo I heard that Japanese love German culture... so yeah, would be really interesting :)
Shinzo yes
They love it. I was in Japan for half a year and everyone gets pretty excited, when they heard I'm from Germany :) (and everyone wants to try our beer :D )
Yeeeessssss xD
Being Canadian, i love how this video make me realize that we are appreciated i could say and not being hated by other population around the world this warm my heart
Wow, I really enjoyed this! I'm Canadian and I'd love to go to Japan (:
Suggestion for a What Japanese Think Of Mexico? :3
Sachiko Gomez Nope. Finland.
Suvi-Tuuli Allan nope. Japan
Garrett Howard Nope. Mars.
Suvi-Tuuli Allan yes
Suvi-Tuuli Allan yes
I’m thankful that they thought of Canada so fondly! Thank you
I love how my country is one of the few countries that has no bad stereotypes ^_^ thank you rachel and Jun for doing this topic~ It's okay that no one knew who Stephen Harper was haha ^_^ I enjoy the videos~ Keep up the good work!!
Apparently there was a TV programme that featured a Canadian who put it on burgers and sausages and everything in between xD
People are so nice about Canada in Japan, it was really touching hearing what their answers were :)
Cat's Adventures! Maple burgers and sausages are amazing *drools* Fries, though? I have not seen that one yet.
Cat's Adventures! Ok but maple is actually an amazing thing to pair with meat like bacon and burgers.
Cat's Adventures! You should tell them "Yes, we call that a maple bacon poutine!" and then proceed to teach them of the glory that is said maple bacon poutine.
Cat's Adventures! Wow, that is hardcore :O
They're so right! I'm a Canadian and it's amazing here.
I love how they all thought Toronto was the capital. Also love the love for Toronto and Canada in general!
Oh yeah, the leader at the time this was posted was Harper, by the way! I adore this video lol
We're loved everywhere. *Tears of Joy*
I love this vid!! Much love from Canada Jun and Rachel!!!
Keeping the English speaking countries pattern, I suggest doing a video about Australia.
Ferman Sensei That's one you can skip, honestly. Australians go to Japan more than just about any other group of people. When I went to Japan, I kinda started wondering if there actually where any Australians in Australia.
InfernosReaper haha!!! And lots of Japanese also come here as tourists and exchange students too! Koreans on the other hand where very excited to learn I was Australian when I went there - I think they were just surprised I wasn't America tbh!
Yesss +Rachel & Jun if possible i'd love one for what japanese people think of aussies haha thanks!! :)
Yes Australia!!
InfernosReaper Australians seem to be everywhere in Asia. Especially if there's a pub.

Japanese think about the Irish ?..... 😀
I'm Spanish not Mexican Spanish do Japanese people like people from Spain or if there family is Spanish or something like that
You should come to Vancouver. Mountains, the ocean, the sea wall and Stanley park and the cherry blossom festival.
Lukiel666 yas fellow Vancouverite 👊
ah this bunch again =) the woman in the maroon sweater is awesome =) George Clooney sama xD
I'm a french Canadian, i love japan and this video makes me so happy!
I really like this series! I'd be curious to see a video on what Japanese people think about the UK :D
Omg yes
Beffinee i am canadian and i love the uk :D
+Beffinee Is it very multicultural there?
Peter Tseng Yeah that is such a large difference between Japan and the UK! It's kind of hard to put into words but sometimes I felt so out of place in Japan, in the UK you'd never be stared at because of your race. It was quite an odd feeling for me.
Don't worry! If you ever get stared at, I will manage to help you out. Japan is really monoculture despite the amount of foreigners there. I am Taiwanese and feel it would be a lot better if people are more friendly toward others regardless of race.
They know more about Canada than Americans do
Riley Jensen i love u
It’s so cool seeing what other countries think of us. Thanks for doing this!
Tiffany Elle yeah, we in Ontario got the short end of the stick on that one.
Yeahhhhh you guys got owned
Tiffany Elle I'm convinced Vancouver isn't even a part of Canada, everyone probably got lost when the maps were made. while It's around zero and snowing in most parts of southern Canada it's raining in Vancouver with 10 degree weather. People from Vancouver are traitors, how do you even get around if it's too warm to ride your polar bear?
Well considering how the globe and temperature on it works, it's not surprising that the western coast has milder temperatures than the interior. It's the same way in the United States.
Tiffany Elle I'm living in Quebec and the last winter is very cold ! The temperatures is between like -30c and -40c in january.
I love how people from across the world know us better than our neighbours
This is a heartwarming video! I'm Canadian and these people make me proud to be one
They know so much more about Canada then Americanas! I was very impressed that so many knew our Capital. 🍁❤🍁
Do one for Sweden, I'm curious :)
KartGaming Nope. Finland.
Suvi-Tuuli Allan both!
KartGaming Fine. But they better do their research well! :P
KartGaming Would be cool, even if our Sweden is just a small mark on the map
That is racist!
I love this video. I hope these kids will come to see my beautiful country someday.
I thought they all looked familiar! Was this filmed on the same day as the American one?
Yeye Yes it was! haha
Out of context this sound very racist.
Mr. Duck LOL, i had to read what she said again to get what you meant
Mr. Duck LOL it really does!
Mr. Duck oops
The "waffles" bit caught me off guard. Did not actually know other countries associate waffles with us. Maple syrup, yes. Beautiful nature, yes, but the waffles were a wee bit of a surprise.
Damn, but waffles are good though.
Waffles are usually associated with Belgium, just like French fries.
I was watching this while I was having my breakfast - eggo waffles with maple syrup. Sheesh. I'm such a stereotype! :-) But they were delicious!
i remember when japanese students came to our school they were very nice to us and shared thier music as well! we loved what they gave us and vice versa! great people we would love to have them come visit! americans can drive us nutz sometimes but we love them too! yes even when they drive us nuts lol!
Americans would never say Ottawa in 10000000 years
+daneo4 I did in my head.
i love the japanese im canadian
So glad they love Canada so much💕💕
I live in Canada and we don't get along with some America's because a lot of them are rude to us
+Cool Roxy Candy Yea but fuck em
True
+Cool Roxy Candy ??? random question wich province ive lived in b.c and sasktchewan for most my life but never met someone from america (that told me)
im canadian i have an american girlfriend tbh she acts like a canadian because she lives near the boarder between canada and america
LMAO okay as long as you aren't from Pakistan we wont bully you
The comment about Freedom haha
The girl in red is just fun to be around, and the two are just amazing & beautiful couples ! What a nice people in general
" except the bears" please, our bears will apologize too😂
I'm Canadian and this video makes me so happy! When they asked about bad stereotypes and they said they didn't know any 🙂😊 that is so nice!!
As a Canadian, it makes me so happy to see such positive opinions of our country! I was smiling the whole time while watching this :)
It’s funny how Ottawa sounds way more japanese than anything else really.
I feel so proud to be Canadian now :)
All of these young people did wonderful on the quiz, It is extremely hard to know something about every country. I myself feel honoured that you see Canada as you do and if you get the chance to come see some of our country, I hope every moment is filled with new experiences and many happy moments for you
Little question: how do you approach Japanese people to interview them? Thanks, you two are awesome \(^o^)/
Rachel & Jun Are they really random people off the street? Since they're all young people I always assumed you were on a college campus asking around. Also explains their free time to just sit and chat.
As a Canadian, I really enjoyed this video :)
Plushpenguin We've done both street interviews and university campus interviews! But the people have all been random (except for the girl in the red sweater here--we know her c: ).
+Rachel & Jun And i also would like to know this girl in the red sweater too, she's really cute !
Really cool video btw, reviews on Canada are often forgotten ! That was really funny to see :)
+Clmt Mrt Strikingly so indeed !
when this was uploaeded, harper was prime minister. bet they could answer trudeau if asked today, though
+Susan B : Well I would expect at least one of them to fangirl and scream a high-pitched ''DJUSTINU TURUDO KAWAI''. *facepalm*
+ToshAroundMac ''TURUDO SENPAI NOTICE MEEEE!!!''
+Rock Shooter JUSTIN TRUDEAU-SAMAAAAAAAAAA (He was born on Christmas. Go figure.)
A lot of Canadians would like to see Trudeau move to Japan.
Canadian watching this in June 2017! So happy they find us friendly and no bad stereotypes lol...I myself love Japan and cant wait to visit!!
An intriguing video. It is always nice to see what others think about your country. It would be interesting to see what they think about Australia.
I've heard more than one country say our capital is Sydney. XD
StormShaun what? are you saying it's not!? =)
(just kidding)
glenora1974 Nah ofc its Melbourne, duh
StormShaun Obviously not, it's Australia City!
Everywhere you go.
+StormShaun Well Canberra doesn't really stand out compared to Sydney lol. Though neither does a boring ass city like Ottawa =P. Toronto & Sydney for life!
2:15 damn how did she know yellowknife? Im impressed.
The interviewer at 4:26 pronounced Quebec with the Canadian-French accent LOL YESSSSSS
Oh, an anime Tenkai knights, it have both japanese and “canada” english dub
Am I the only one that finds Japanese woman, on average, adorable? They have this quiet demeanor about them that is so freaking cute.
The young lady in the red sweater, is one of the most adorable ladies I've seen in a long time. She is so soft spoken and has this cute shyness about her.
Please, all of you, come visit our great country any time you want... you won't be disappointed.
Uhg, that sounds kinda pervy, lol. :)
Got the warm fuzzies watching this again, I hope some of those nice people in the video can come visit sometime!
0:55 she is so beautiful!!
Hahaha yesss!! Nobody can think of any bad stereotypes for Canada :)
It's cause we're all just so damn friendly and accepting lol ;P
P.S. Canada's president is Tim Horton, and he actually just got elected for a double-double XD
Just kidding we have a Prime Minister named Stephen Harper... he's a huge douchebag though haha
Tasha Sturm ^omg lol! thats great
Justin bieber
Love this and love you guys! It made me laugh because I'm a Canadian who wants to go to Japan! Thanks for your videos. Keep up the great work. 😄
Every time i think about canada a person comes to mind..Georges St Pierre...he's a superstar in Canada right!?
Well he is known
I live in Canada and this country is Prodi and free, wé accept any one who comes even if their different, canada is amazing and there je no other place id live than Here in Canada.
Sorry i ment to put proud. Not prodi 😛😛
I'm so proud riight now
I was really appalled that Bieber and Lavigne were the only celebrities they knew but then I understood that their entertainment are mostly young singers and not comedians or actors.
