- The first full public tour of any of Château de Rosières' buildings. Through babies and pandemic we've been working on this beautiful building for more than two years (with help from experts!) and we're very excited to show you what we've done so far. We'll tell you the history of this fascinating building, the ethos behind our renovations, and what we hope to achieve next!

Taller wainscoting with a shelf running the length along the top. Nice place for guest’s odds and ends.
My vote is to make the wall panelling higher than the bed frame - I find that a lower wall panelling is more typically used in a colonial style of room decor. Also, (I know you didn't ask) simple wrought iron bed frames would look wonderful in your beautiful rooms.
It is wonderful that you are keeping the historical features, while making a modern, livable and multi-purpose space.
Clement is so adorable at the piano!
such a pleasure to see people so relaxed when explaining what they are trying to do. Thank you for sharing it with us all. It is so good to see you again,
The Coach House renovation is lovely and will be perfect for the family while working on the chateau. It's great to see all three of you back.
The coach house is a beautiful building. Your renovations have been sensitive to its history and yet you have brought it into our time with important comforts like heating that does not intrude visually. Nicely done! And, I vote for the higher paneling.
The Coach House is beautiful, you’ve done a wonderful job, it’s such a welcoming space, full of character and the added modern luxury of heated floors!
I love the reality of children playing in the vlog. It’s a true pleasure to have you back in whatever timeline you can manage. Thank you.
I vote higher wall panels. The room has high ceilings and if there is a bed in front it needs to project well above the headboard. The work so far is exceptional. I love the attention you give to the preservation of the features. It is going to serve the building well for the next few centuries.
Stunning refurbishment in the coach house. What a fantastic result.
I have to say I'm with Mark, for a higher panelling, the tour was great, you have both worked so hard. The difference is amazing, thanks for the before and after pictures.
I also prefer a higher paneling. Sorry Amy
Yes absolutely bravo Mark.
Best vlog to date! Exceptional details. Marc has my vote for paneling height. Amy, I absolutely love your dress.
Loved the tour, such a labor of love! Respect for the building is evident
I'm going along with Mark on the height of the panelling!
Thank you so much for this amazing tour of the Coach House, it is so beautiful and you have done an amazing job on it!! The detail is wonderful and so glad to see that you kept all of the history intact! Loved seeing all the before pictures on how it was all taken apart and put back together....wonderful!! The two of you are so interesting and explain everything so well...I truly love listening to you both. Thank you and as always, look forward to hearing more. Amy, you are looking amazing and love how you and Marc communicate with all of us. Clement is adorable as usual!! Bless you all, love from Canada xo
Thank you for the tour of the coach house and your plans.stunning building
I can see how much work you have put into it with Love care
Look forward to watching it turn into your home so you
can sort the Chateau out.Look after yourselves stay
Love Sue ❤❤❤🇬🇧❤❤❤💐🕯🕯🕯🍰☕🍰☕🍦🍀
Love Sue ❤❤❤
So glad your back! What a beautiful job you did with the the Coach House & took the time to save it what a stunning building! I love that you made it two big rooms and not a bunch of crammed ones! Also glad you sourced out your work to people who know & care about the history of the building & not rushed just slapping anything on! Well done Marc & Amy by the way look beautiful pregnant Amy❤️🇨🇦
Place looks beautiful. Amy you are looking amazing XXX Thankyou both, so enjoyable XXX
So admiring your sensitive reno-conserva-preservation ethos. The reuse of lovely wood furnishings reminds me of restoration of historic building we did in our colonial community, across the sea. Your family is lovely, with your dear little boy crawling up and down, from Mama to Papa, so endearing. All best to you in your journey.
What a marvel and delight! A true labor of love by a LOVELY couple! God bless your growing family❤️
The Coach House is looking amazing! I can listen to Marc all day talking about the history of the buildings!! And I love your relaxed style, Amy, you make it all make sense! Looking forward to more tours of the whole estate! Much love and big hugs xxx
The coach house before and after pictures reflect all the hard work that went into restoring this historic building. The renovations look stunning already. Can't wait to see how it looks finished. I think the wood paneling needs to be higher rather than lower. It will appear more luxurious with the higher panel. Praying you get it done before the baby come. Clement is such a well behaved cutie pie 😍😘
You have done an amazing job on the coach house. For the bed room paint I would try and match two colours from the stone work ,lighter colour on plaster board and medium colour on the panels. The panel height I would match up to the panel on the doors ,so it all lines up. Just a thought.
Really enjoyed your tour of the excellent coach house renovations while preserving historical features. Higher panelling might be more in keeping with the style of the past. So glad all of you will enjoy a cozy place during the cold mountain winters! 😊👏👏👏
What a pleasant surprise to see a longer video. Gives a better idea of how much work you've done and how far you've come on the coach house. Love all the history of it and how you're keeping it as you renovate. Wishing your family good health and a million viewers. (I remembered to watch the ads.)
Thank you so much! It's an incredible history and now reno/restoration. It is such a treat to see you again and sharing your lives and home with us - its going to be a lovely place to bring your new baby into your life. Clement is just adorable. 💕 from Canada.
Stunning! I love the history! I love your ecological vision on the renovation! I'm so happy you try to keep it as original as possible and usable at the same time. One they your children will be so proud of what you did for them, for the building and for history!
So glad you're using local tradespeople who know history of area.
I like the design choices you are making. The wooden paneling will look great.
I absolutely love what you guys have done with this old, historic coach house. It feels very warm and welcoming. You've done a terrific job of adding necessary modern touches without compromising the original features! I love the stone walls rendered with lime and the pattern you've chosen for the floors. Can't wait to see what you'll do next!! You have a lovely family.
Marc and Amy your Chateau is truly spectacular, the scenery around it is breathtaking
I’m so glad you are breathing life back into all these old, beautiful buildings 😊
What a wonderful building! You will all be nice and snug for the winter when the upstairs is completed. As to the height of the panels, perhaps up to the bottom of the light switch on the wall by the door?! I really enjoyed this vlog and all the explanations. Clement is just adorable 😍
Amazing job and love the storage closet for wires and pipes it just adds creature to the room
Higher paneling would be more in keeping with that time period of building.
The coach house looks fantastic!
Thank you for sharing this tour of the coachhouse with all of the historical detail that you have saved. I loved all of it but especially the cabinet front that Marc saved for your new loo and the stone walls and wooden beams. Excited for you to finish this space so you can be in before the baby comes and we can see the reveal of the finished space.
the wardrobe in the loo to hide the water heater and pipes is a great idea !
I think that higher wall panels are the way to go. Make a statement, the rooms deserve it! Also just curious to know if you will be installing an internal staircase?
Great renovation! I vote for higher panels.
You're doing a beautiful job. Can see why you are so proud of it. Will be an idyllic place to stay. I agree with Marc, and think the paneling should be higher- otherwise may be dwarfed by the stone walls.
I absolutely love your intro it always makes me smile.
I found this vlog very enjoyable, especially the historic references eg the lamp holder and where The Coachman would have slept and eaten.
You both look very well 😊
I think the panelling should match one of the panelling levels from the doors. I definitely would not have it in between
and essentially create a 3rd level.
This is so interesting! Sorry I missed the live! All the comments show how much interest this creates in your viewers. Thank you.
Re-purpose & reuse! Luv it!
Splendid!!!
With Clement being so rambunctious and a new baby soon, I hope you can get your living space finished. You are going to be a busy mom, but I am sure husband will be a good help. Thanks for the tour of your new renovations.
Hope you went with the higher panels! Amazing work so far & hope it's ready to welcome the new baby!!
What a lovely building. I appreciate your passion for preservation and maintaining the character of your estate, and will happily watch any further tidbits of history that you’d like to share! 🌺
You guys have been BUSY! Looks great
Love the introduction sequence, really worked the imagination.
What I find astonishing is the amount of wealth the past owners must of had.
The staffing that was involved and where they accumulated their wealth- sugar plantations in the French Caribbean ? Slave trade ? Trade with the Ottoman Empire?
Amazing
And then
Suddenly the World Wars and everything came to a complete halt
Even after the French Revolution, French Aristocracy apparently continued…🧐
Interesting and Loved the Carriage House - going to be amazing
Thank you for sharing 🙂.
Thank you! Actually this traditionally a very poor area and the chateau itself was never a grand, showy chateau but always a working estate. They had huge amounts of land in the valley and earned the money they needed from that. Plus local labour was so cheap.
Clemont was so cute pottering away in the background. I admire that you are looking into the history of your chateau and being sympathetic to it with your renovations.I love the cupboard in the loo :) brilliant idea with the wood panels I would either go chair rail height or Arts and Crafts style, high with a shelf and/or pegs for hanging things on
This time Marc gets my vote on the paneling. I think higher is better in this case
I love your renovations to the coach house. I prefer white painted spaces. Clean uncluttered and crisp. So many other elements to discover in the room. I enjoy your channel very much.
WONDERFUL VLOG!!! You did perfect to regenerate your channel. Amy, I love your dress. Short panels would be more appropriate. Restoration has been kind to the building. Thank you. Love you all bunches.
Thank you Judi! I've been quite on 'the other side' because I was working solidly on this and I'm quite proud of it in the end. So glad you enjoyed it xxx
Don't be frightened of big expanse of wall, especially if you putting bed up against it. Big headboard with pictures above will look 👍
I agree. Let the furnishings be the focus.
I think the paneling should be just below halfway up the wall. Team Mark! Lol!
Splendid! Love the stonework...
What a beautiful, sympathetic and detailed renovation. The bedroom with the views is magical. Higher with the panelling gets my vote. Enjoy your stay.
So very interesting! I had never copme across the 'potager' way of cooking. Your philosophy is impressive.Thank you.
We miss you, I hope that things are going ok. Thinking of you xxxx
To me, higher panels would be the best choice as they seem less modern.
So interesting! And I just have to say, I love listening to Marc talk! Love how much you both cherish all the little original nuances of the building.
What a job that was. It turned out so nice. I love the stone wall and beams. Thank you for sharing your progress.
What an epic renovation , really love your ethical, historic ,sympathetic ethos .your passion shines from you both. I am so pleased to hear you will have a warm comfortable place to live in during the winter and the arrival of the new baby . When do you hope to move in ? I loved the whole update very interesting. The sound was briefly at the beginning a bit muffled ,otherwise it was brilliant . Beautiful dress Amy .Clement is as gorgeous as ever and Marks not bad either 😂. I love your little family .i am so happy to catch up with you all. You have had a horrible few months ,so I hope it’s onwards and upwards now . Is the outside staircase the only access , bit chilly in the night if you have to down to get anything !! Love and more is sent xx
What a stunning transformation! Well done!
Fabulous renovation! The stonework and the detailing are excellent!
Wow you have been very busy, it all looks fantastic.
Congratulations on your new baby!
just a lovely vlog; thankyou. we renovated a barn and put the plugs in the floor and wiring through the pointing with spots which are operated remotely so we didn't have to put in switches and leads on the walls. Lower panelling... higher is reminiscent of the 1920's? On the other hand.. if it was panelled to the ceiling - that would be totally in keeping with the age of the building.. The pinky white you would love is Little Greene's China Clay Distemper.. available in France or by post.. I have it everywhere and it covers anything with a lovely lime softness - but you have probably already seen it..
I truly enjoyed this video, well worth the wait. I could listen to the two of you talk about the chateau forever and never get bored. Beautiful work and what a treasure you are saving for generations to come. Please take your time doing what you do so well, I will patiently wait for the next full video.
I think the coach house is a lovely building and will be very cozy for the winter. In my humble opinion, I would keep those walls plain and painted in a light colour. This would make the room feel a lot lighter and it would be brighter in the winter months as the sun reflects off of it. You have so many wonderful historical features in the rooms that it would allow them to shine and be the feature. Keeping it simple would also be cheaper and faster. It will look lovely any way that you do it. Thank you for sharing. Jean
I love your attention to detail in preserving the primal features of the Coach House. Looking forward to seeing it completely finished.
The ‘third’ rules with panelling you can still wallpaper above
Lower for the wood panels. I vote for Amy!
It is going to be beautiful. So many original features 🥰 Good to see y’all. Take care and see you soon.
Nicki and Carlo sent me. Just a lovely home. Congrats on your newest addition to your family. I look forward to your content.
Welcome Nicole!
@@Chroniclesofrosieres merci! Bonjour from Canada ❤️
I like the idea of higher paneling.
Love that you are such empathetic custodians of the Chateau. Its interesting that ETTC DIY are no longer featuring your property. It would imply the agenda is more about popular, instant modernisation and fancy venues as opposed to considered appreciation and preservation of wonderful historic buildings. I love that your background is archaeological which is a wonderful attribute. 😊🙏
Thank you for the tour of your lovely Coach House. It is such a beautiful building.. You all have been doing an awesome job at renovating it.. I agree with Marc. I think the panelling in the bedroom should be high.. Sorry Amy.. I just think it would look better with the high ceilings..
Good point about the ceiling height actually!
I think those upper rooms will make a lovely cosy hideaway for you all to shelter in over winter.
Really enjoyed your tour. Such a good idea to move in there. Amy you look beautiful xx
Beautiful renovation....well done outstanding job
I think the panels would create a nice blend but need to run just below the light switch ( in line with the central bar panels of the doors either side of that wall). It’s really lovely. Very nice work.
'Seting Plaster' by Farrow & Ball is a great colour. If you have a Leroy Merlin near you they do have all the official F&B recipes in their colour base so you can save some and still have the same colour!
The floors upstairs are spectacular! The wood panels would be beautiful just no higher than 4 feet though. Some lovely original features upstairs! Really enjoyed this! Thank you I’m excited to go on your journey with you.
It's been so great to see your
love and respect for history in restoring this building and maintaining its character for future generations. Your family are going to be so happy growing up in this space.
Can you access the ground floor from inside if the children need to be downstairs to play?
I vote for tall wood paneling. The "modern" part would be less apparent. It's so great to see you and your family once again. The work you have done on the coach house is spectacular and probably largely completed by now, as winter is closer now. Blessings to you all! Looking forward to the next vlog.
This this was a very good tour . You done a great deal planning. I can't wait to see your home. I just hope you get it done before the baby. I can't wait to see the rest of the state
I think higher panels would be attractive. Beautiful restoration.💐😊
I like the panel height being like Marc wants. But you should do whatever you like. Janice from Arkansas USA
I love your vision for the coach house.
Enjoyed the tour and before and after photos, your attention to maintain the historical integrity of the building is really wonderful. Admire your hard work- well done. ❤️
This was fabulous!!! I loved it!!! The whole way you presented it, the amazing work you have done, all I can say is more more more!. Although, obviously I know it's not that easy, if only hey. Well done guys, I can't wait to see what is next.
Just came back to watch this one to see if I could get my answer about you guys moving in to the coach house. Now it makes sense. I do not know how I missed this one. 🤦🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️😂
Love the old coach house, now a retreat. Enjoyed it a lot to see what you have been up to. I think your property is like paradise for archaeology!!!!
Till next time🌺🌺🌺
just love watching the two of you. Amy you are blooming now and Clermont is becoming such a lovely little man. the knowledge of the building is so nice to hear. i also love that you have kept all the little things that you have found, The vlog has been to good to watch once again thank you.
forgot to say that this room is looking great
You are doing an amazing job of restoring your home and out buildings. Also it is so nice to get the history of the place as you go along. Well done!
Sorry Amy...I think higher panelling but I love the thought of a delicate 'white tinged pink'. All your hard work is paying off! Beautifully done. 🌻
