As a huge fan of Pixar, I love Luxo Jr.
That's why I decided to remake entirely, except the soundtrack, their first film.

You have made this look like as if it was rendered in a dark room, with actual lamps being animated, and this was the result. A realistic rendition of the original short, with realistic physics and lighting, and rubber cords. Well done! 10/10, hands down.

Have you ever thought of remaking The Adventures of André & Wally B.?
I already thought to remake some other shorts of Pixar like "Red's Dream" or "Knick Knack" but I never really found the time to make it and I think I will never do it.
I'm working on a short since few months. I will certainly show it here when it will be finished.

This looks like if Pixar redid the Luxo Jr short today but with more realistic graphics.
Well... The original does still hold up with it's animation. But this remake does look far good

Yes, I confirm, remake this short was an excellent exercise. I really liked doing it and I learned a lot. I recommend it to anyone wishing to try 3D animation.

Yeah, and Luxo jr. didn't age. But now in 2020 Luxo jr. becomed smaller in a 3d style. But Luxo did age. But he wasn't there in a logo, but, the truth is, he was recording it.

Not exactly. Pixar did not really exist when they created "The Adventures of André & Wally B.". It was still a computer division of LucasFilm.

How'd you learn to animate like that?
Mainly, with "The Animator's Survival Kit" by Richard Williams. Otherwise, by studying the animations in the movies.
Now do it again, but using realtime game engine renderers, like Unreal Engine
Not planned on UE4 but, if I have time, I may consider to remake my remake on Blender EEVEE.

Frame rate is 60 or 48 fps. The original was at 24
I used a frame rate of 30 fps.

Yeah. I could have had a better frame rate, but it would have involved longer render time.
Really ? I never noticed it. This may be due to a better motion blur or, more generally, a better rendering quality than the software of the time could offer.

Yeah, Motion Blur is important to achieve more realistic animations.
