- “Luxo Jr. sent shock waves through the entire industry-to all corners of computer and traditional animation. At that time, most traditional artists were afraid of the computer. They did not realize that the computer was merely a different tool in the artist's kit but instead perceived it as a type of automation that might endanger their jobs. Luckily, this attitude changed dramatically in the early ’80s with the use of personal computers in the home. The release of our Luxo Jr. . . .reinforced this opinion turnaround within the professional community.”

Proof that luxo jr was innocent and didn’t try to kill the “I”
Remember that this is good animation because it was released in 1986
It wasn't good, it was groundbreaking
@@taka2517 it's a significant improvement over how _The Adventures of André & Wally B._ looked, I'll say that (since that short was releases 2 years before this one).
Still looks good in my opinion
@@berchyzgb4423 yes, it does
It's good animation because it's good animation: highly detailed, nuanced, careful, no cutting corners. Note the shadows, the light pools on the desk, the small subtle, lifelike movements, the "emotion" -- sloppy animators wouldn't bother with that. That's why it's a classic. So is "Alien Song."
Fun fact: when this short premiered at SIGGRAPH the audience had already risen in applause in like the first 10 seconds!
Exposition is Luxo Sr is a father of Luxo Jr when somebody roll the ball to him, and Luxo Sr roll the ball back.
Rising Action A little lamp named Luxo Jr who plays the ball, and he chases the pixar ball.
Climax Luxo Jr was bouncing on the ball so hard.
Falling Action Luxo Jr accidentally pops the pixar ball while he is bouncing on it.

Brilliant imagination!!!
Chick Corera Akoustic Band, Nice!
How this animation was made in 1986?!
Steve Jobs had a significant impact on Pixar when he purchased it in 1986. Initially, Jobs invested in the company when it was still a division of Lucasfilm, becoming its largest shareholder. Jobs invested a significant amount of money in Pixar, allowing studying to develop cutting-edge computer graphics technologies and producing his first successful short film, "Luxo Jr."

I know I'm years late to this party... But I just don't remember anything like this in 1986. Money ain't for nothing music video was supposed to be groundbreaking and was miles behind what this is, and I think it was made in 83ish.
Cool.
Wow.
