Newly released police body camera video shows Ruby Franke being pulled over for speeding days before she was arrested.
CASE SUMMARY
Ruby Franke was once best known for her popular RUclips channel on which she documented family life with her husband and six children. On December 18, 2023, however, she pleaded guilty to four counts of aggravated child abuse. On December 27, 2023, Jodi Hildebrandt, a licensed therapist who ran an online self-improvement program with Ms. Franke, also pleaded guilty to four counts of aggravated child abuse. Four months earlier, the women were arrested after Ms. Franke’s 12-year-old son climbed out of the window of Ms. Hildebrandt’s Ivins, Utah residence, ran to a neighbor’s home, and asked for help. The neighbor observed duct tape on the boy’s ankles and wrists, severe wounds, and malnourishment. He quickly contacted law enforcement who, upon arrival, learned that potentially more children remained inside Ms. Hildebrandt’s home and in harms’ way. The officers responded to Ms. Hildebrandt’s home, placed her under arrest, and conducted a search of her sizable property where they found Ms. Franke’s 9-year-old daughter, petrified and hiding in a closet.
The ensuing investigation revealed that Ms. Franke and Ms. Hildebrandt held Franke’s 12-year-old son and 9-year-old daughter in a work-camp like setting. The children were regularly denied food, water, beds to sleep in, and virtually all forms of entertainment. They were also prohibited from interacting with others and were hidden in the home when others came to visit. They were forced to do physical tasks like carrying loaded boxes up and down stairs and “sitting” against a wall without a chair or stool for hours at a time. The children were also forced to do manual labor outdoors in the extreme summer heat without shoes or socks. They were similarly forced to stand outside, on a cement patio, in the summer heat for hours and even days. They were beaten, and the 12-year old was bound hand and foot after a previous attempt at running away. Additionally, the children suffered emotional abuse to the extent that they came to believe that they deserved the abuse.
The investigation found that religious extremism motivated Ms. Franke and Ms. Hildebrandt to inflict this horrific abuse. The women appeared to fully believe that the abuse they inflicted was necessary to teach the children how to properly repent for imagined “sins” and to cast the evil spirits out of their bodies.
On February 20, 2024, Judge John J. Walton of Utah’s Fifth Judicial District Court sentenced Ms. Franke and Ms. Hildebrandt to serve four to thirty years in the Utah State Prison, the maximum sentence for this type of an offense. Because of Utah’s indeterminate sentencing laws, the Utah Board of Pardons and Parole now oversees the length of their prison sentence.
The Washington County Attorney’s Office is grateful for the law enforcement officers, medical personal, case workers, Children’s Justice Center staff, and others who were instrumental in ensuring the children’s safety and administering justice to their abusers.

The way she said in one of the jail calls, "You know my heart...".... didn't Lori say almost the exact same thing? So eerie. These people are so sick.

Actually, I think I read that this was when her son escaped the first time and they were out looking for him.

Exercising your right to remain silent is not rude, it’s just good advise any time you’re dealing with law enforcement.

I think the court dropped the traffic violation when they accepted her plea for the felonies. I could be wrong, but I do recall hearing it mentioned.

Unfortunately, in Utah, the maximum she can serve is 30 years. The sentence for her Crimes is 1-15yrs, she got 4 sentences to be served consecutively, the parole board will decide her fate. She could serve as little as 4yrs if they feel she has been a good model prisoner. Part of her plea deal if she pead guilty is that the prosecution will not try to prevent her release in front of the parole board when she goes for review 🤔 they also dropped 2 of the 6 charges against her.

Such an odd exchange. Most people roll their window all the way down, and acknowledge the officer before making him stand while you rummage through your glove compartment. Normal people make eye contact, smile, and apologize. She acts like my dog when he knows he's been caught doing something bad.

She really comes off like she thinks she is better than everyone and above the law. She expects perfect behavior from her children and doles out dire consequences for any misstep yet seems incapable of taking any accountability herself. It's like she has zero self-awareness of her own behaviors coupled with an extremely distorted and inflated self opinion.

Imagine being like 12-year-old boy abused to the point that you can’t control your bodily functions and have wounds on your ankles that you don’t even feel the pain anymore that’s the state the little boy was in when this woman got pulled over those teenage daughters know? Did they know what was happening to their siblings.?
All I can think is that the older girls are brainwashed as well. When LE found them that day cleaning for Ruby or Jodi’s friend they acted like Ruby and wouldn’t speak.
Not being able to control your bodily functions is also a sign of starvation.
That's been my thoughts too, I know she was leaving them alone in their family home for days and weeks on end. But then she did mention taking her daughter to the dentist at 3am on the day of her arrest. I'm wondering if this is where she picked them up to help with the clearing out of Jodi's house.

The two other daughters were mostly in the same house. The one helped looking for R when he ran away previously. I think the two girls knew. They are underage, so identities protected. We will never know how much they "participated" ? They would have been tortured or locked up as well, if they tried to help their siblings. Kids are helpless against such a domineering and controlling mother as Ruby. However one wishes that one them could have made an anonymous call to 911 or to just call their Dad or older siblings. Most of us probably asks ourselves: If I saw my Mom murdering my 12 year old brother, when I was 16, would I have raised the alarm?
To those who haven’t seen Russel’s wounds, just know…they aren’t lacerations around his wrists like you’d expect. It literally looks like a dog took a bite out of his wrists. Egregious wounds that will leave permanent tissue and nerve damage.
Its a miracle russell did not get sepsis or any other life threatening infection because if he did you can guarantee he would not of been taken to the hospital by those monsters
Absolutely right! This was not chafing’ of the wrists and ankles. The policeman even mentions the smell from the wounds. The kids are lucky to be alive! Starvation, dehydration, sepsis, heatstroke to name but a few of what could have happened to those kids!😔

Yes, he didn´t get that right. The kids were severely abused long before she met Jodi - by Ruby and Kevin both.
These women were Mormons and church bishops referred people to them. I had a friend who was raised in the Mormon Church, and she said that she was horribly treated and tortured. I feel the church needs to be investigated for the safety of children.

The truly scary part is that at this point, she didn't think she was doing anything wrong to her kids. She wasn't shaking in her shoes, she was pissed that she got pulled over. She's very indignant! All her interactions with authorities is completely opposite of how she portrayed herself on her RUclips channel. I believe Hildebrandt was able to brainwash her, but a lot of her family and friends try to tell her and she "chose" to follow Jodi! She's obviously rotten in her core to do what she did to her kids. A good 20 years in prison will wipe that chip off her shoulders!

It was weird he didnt ask her where she was going…it’s an odd time for a mom with kids to be out. Every time Ive been pulled over they always ask me where Im going. One time I’d just picked up pizza and the officer said Oh you’ve just picked up dinner and headed home are you.😂 They always want to know.

I recall that in one video it was said that RF left the house once prior at around 5AM in the morning and Ruby went out looking for him, and found him walking. I think it was in her journal notes that were being read in a video. Thank God he escaped the second time!!

This woman just thinks she’s above everyone and anyone, the only time I saw her attempt to show any respect for the law at all was after she was found guilty for abusing her children then standing up in court admitting her wrongdoings, but I feel like that was crap too, she’s like a Lori Vallow who doesn’t think she’s done anything wrong.
I think she was going back and forth from Jodi's house in Ivins to their Springville home, it is about 4 Hours drive I think, that's why she was always riding at nighttime. When R escaped she stated she left at 3 in the morning to go to a dentist appointment with J.

The dentist appointment was in northern Utah and Jodi’s house is the southern tip of Utah. So they would have to get up to make the journey to the Salt Lake area which is about 3.5 hours away. Also that’s where ruby’s house was.

Just DAYS away from being arrested...and she had both ABBY AND JULIE in the car with her!!! They were THERE at Jodi's house, TOO!!! They had only be taken to Pam's house a few days before Russell escaped that house of horrors!!! They were also abused (just not to the same extent) and *brainwashed* by those awful crazy women...and they BOTH witnessed the abuse and torture inflicted upon their younger siblings! That explains why they didn't want to go with their big sister...they had been alienated from her, and convinced that she was a bad person who was against the family!

20 miles over is an automatic suspension in my state. He put down 50, so that she was only over 15, and she had not one thank you.
Surprised there isn’t more black people commenting on how cops are racist and if it were them they would have got pulled out of the car and arrested for not opening the window all the way.
