  • In this video I will show you how to remove the Audi Arm Rest lid and how to replace a broken catch which you can get for £1!
In the video this is done on my Audi A4 B6 - as I become aware of other models this applies to I will update here.
This is also suitable for Audi A4/S4/RS4 - B6/B7
I got the catch from ebay and if you search for "Black Armrest Lid Console Cover Latch Clip Catch For AUDI A4 B6" (or whichever model) you should find the right one for yourself.
The catch in this video was 99p from China.
    Music:
    Stoker by Jingle Punks
    Crispy by Silent Partner

I bought the entire armrest cover but had trouble getting it out, and I didn't want to force something I should not. Very helpful. The armrest looks great now!

Big help... thanks 2 Things that might help others... Took quite an effort to break the spigots holding the plate to the main body.. its wasn't catches or glue. Used a couple of chisels to prise up the plate as wider than screwdrivers. make sure you are well under the plate to prise it up and not just on front edge or it will bend and break. Peg tip worked a treat. . 2 Wire spring had come off the assy I got. had to bend it a little to make sure it went back in place . End bend of springs hook on to the outside bottom of legs of catch and when putting on the plate there is a small notch on plate spring hooks onto.

Fantastically, useful video. Gave me the confidence to pinch the plastic hinge arms firmly but gently without fear of breaking the whole assembly. Thank you so kindly I hope I can be as useful to someone else and pass it forward.

Thank you so much for this video... I knew how to take the lid out but I was trying to fit the clasp without separating the leather and plastic (also tried to put the clip in the wrong way)

I ordered a new catch- but it came with the "metal wire" on its own... when you installed, your catch already had it attached to the catch before install. Can you articulate where that wire is supposed to go mate?- Cheers.- TV

How do you make it spring back and forth? I have managed to fit the new clip, and it works, but it doesn’t spring back and forth like the video. My eBay clip also came with a metal wire thing which I think is probably what allows the spring action but I can’t see where this goes can anyone help? It’s working without it but surely it should go somewhere? Thanks and great video!

Hi thanks for this video. But any chance you can help share some info on how you actually got the resistance wire in please? I am trying your method but i cannot work out how you managed to get your resistance wire to go in and stay in. My wire just keeps pinging out. And now i lost the wire so need to buy another one. :)

    • @CarAndMechanical
      @CarAndMechanical  6 лет назад

It should just go in - sounds like maybe it was a bit tight and possibly not your fault. Also in practice on these it's easy to get these upside down.
It has to look wrong to look right (or at least to me)

Hope you got sorted. I had the same problem - after hours of trying, I realised there was another wire - the one from the broken catch. This worked immediately.

I tried this on the armrest for my 2011 A3. It didn't want to snap apart, instead it snapped in pieces. I don't blame the video. I think I will punt and go with the neodymium magnet solution.
