Tranexamic acidit inhibits plasmin it's an enzyme which helps in the process pathway of inflammatory pathway. Tranexamic acid is known to inhibit melanin pigment you know or reduce the melanin pigment production. So thus it plays a major role especially in patients with melasma and also to an extent even in patients with any pigmentation that is postinflammatory hyperpigmentation, facial melanosis. But this also has to be given oral is preferable. But topical yes it does help but has to be used with some other agents also stand alone Tranexamic acid either oral or topical personally feel cannot really help a hyperpigmented patch.
