Thank you for this! ........Even in 2020, I want a Buell !
I got mine last spring, deciding against a mint cbr600. It was worth it. I am addicted to the power and handling
Yes sir! I just purchased one a couple weeks ago. 99 X1 Lightning. SO GLAD I did. I was contemplating KTM 790 Duke as well. Seen a nice local Buell for sale and pounced on it. No regerts! Man I love these things! Can't stay off the damn thing!
I just love how they sound. It sounds tougher than a cbr, if that makes sense. But both the CBR and the XB12 sound very nice in their own way.
EBR actually purchased the rights to Buell Motorcycles recently so they will now be selling Buells under the Buell name instead of EBR, starting in 2021-2023 they want to have a full line up of bikes from cruisers, middleweight bikes, sport bikes, adventure bikes. They posted about it on Instagram a few days ago and updated the Buell website.....Buell is back!
Can't wait to get mine soon
for the type of riding you just did they are the ultimate bike. Sound, style, look, personality. Buell's have soul and anyone who has owned one knows they touch you deep. I miss mine dearly and will honestly probably get another. o they are not the most powerful bikes out there. But do you really need to go 150? You want a bike that speaks to you get a buell.
9 months later I just purchased another one. Missed mine since the day I sold it. Picking it up on Tuesday and I can’t wait.
It's based on a Harley motor. But the heads, crank, cam and other little bits are designed specifically to this machine.
More nimble sportbikes? Buells are some of the best handling bikes ever made especially the XB series.
I know . My uncles xb12s has showa suspension I think that's what came on them. They say buell on the outside of the fork and on the inside they say Showa
This is true. But there are more nimble bikes.
I have a 2009 xb12r and love my bike! I will never sell it because they are hard to find and will be harder to find in the future.
@1:49 that moment when every riders life flashes before their eyes...
I actually cringed for a sec while watching that part....
Picked up an '07 XB12X Ulysses with 7k miles on it last week. Throwing some 80/20 Pirelli Scorpions STRs on it tomorrow morning, then going to look for some forest service dirt roads to blast down!
to anyone looking at buying one of these, be sure to get one well taken care of, and be aware that the 2008-10 model years got some significant reliability upgrades. The earlier years are still solid bikes but try to get 08-10 if you can help it. Also go for the xb12 over the xb9 if at all possible. The 9 is still a fast bike but the 12 will give you a taste of some serious 0-100 firepower
So, what kind of reliability issues did pre-08 models have? Interested in buying one of these. People seem to be talking about the TPS alot. Does it need alot of adjustment?
@@ratstrat1984 The 08-10 models got some upgrades, you can find info online. One was a stronger oil pump, and a more advanced ECU. There's other small changes. The TPS adjustment on a 08-10 can be done with NO COMPUTER, but the older ones require you to connect to a laptop. I've never really needed to adjust the TPS much, maybe every few months I do it real quick. On my 08 it takes 15 seconds and doesn't require any tools. Look at the videos of mine on my channel if you wanna see a good closeup of a quality xb12r
i got two of them.. once you tweak them out and get everything dialed in, they are beasts...everyone compares these things to liter class bikes bc of the feel.. its not liter-class, its "middle weight twin".. the 984cc is in the same class as the sv650 and the old air-cooled ductai monsters, the 1203 is in the same class as street going 600s (Superstock C and Superstock B) the 1203cc versions arent even in same racing class as the 600rr race bikes.. they arent fast but fucking torque monsters in their class..great hooligans and streetfighters.
Gloomshadow100 im looking into getting a 2003 xb9r with all race kits installed. Im comming off an 03 r6...with this be just as fun? How do the accelerate? Ive never been on a vtwin bike b4
Dan Wustrack id save for the 12r the xb9r revs more but has alot less power
Dan Wustrack a 12r would feel more like your r6
11.4 in the 1/4 is pretty damn fast, but not compared to the Japanese bikes.
with a stage 4 big bore kit they'll run with the kits litre bikes in the 1/4's
While giving my buddy the benefit of my biking experience going back 45 yrs (gosh-damn that dates me, uh?) for an alternative to his FL streetglide that was lighter, less intimidating to him with his minimal experience to 'learn' how to become a competent rider on, I came across an '06 Buell Ulysses For Sale that hit my funny/happy-bone nerve in the bestest-way, as the absolutely BEST all-around fun bike to have. If I could still ride I'd grab-it inna heartbeat, but the next-best would be to turn him onto it.
The more I look at, watch reviews and listen to/read rider's comments about their 06-09 Buells, especially the XB12X's, the more they grow on me. I like everything about them, like their great American V-twin heritage, the masterful, deft engineering that Erik Buell put into making a world-class American muscle sport/cruiser air-cooled pushrod Hell-Raiser with bottom-end grunt and corner-carving style.
Equally at home on the interstate, patchworked asphalt highways, small-town backroads and byways, fire-roads, high-plains gravel tracks, mountain canyon and county roads, hillsides and pastures and forest trails (at least not the too-vicious, gnarly gully-washers and goat-tracks, though perfectly up to crossing 24" 'shallow' streams and throwing mud and stones with the best dual-purpose/offroaders out there, like medium-to-big Suzuki, Kaws, Hondas, BMW and Ducatis up to the same 1200 hvy-duty adventure class.
Its a whole 'nother dimension, a different metaesthetic, another gosh-darn better-way, different configuration to put the power-to-the-ground & Get-R-Done in the traditional overpowering-with-finesse innovative American way, that the XB Buells excel at ~ which is their iconic, traditional legacy ~ even to their found, confounded and abandoned history of being wooed, encouraged, supported, then manipulated, exploited, sabotaged and dismissed by powerful money-interests when the corporate beancounters got out their red-pencils, didn't realize what a rare ahead-of-the-game jewel they had and utterly lost the plot ~ and the whole point of the thing ~
That is, designing, making and selling more smiles-per-miles with out-of-the-box thinking that liberated creative ideas enjoined with the intrepid human spirit, a tribute to zestful fun-loving enthusiasm and just-can't-keep-a-great-thing-down, rarin-to-go attaboy! style.
These out-of-production XB's will still tag-along and keep up, go head-to-head with any/all Jap/German/Italian sportbike cruisers, especially making-up any distance lost on long straightaways thru the twisties, hammering up to about 120 mph with authority until they begin to run-out of steam ~ two-valves per naturally-aspirated air-cooled pistons can't feed air or dump the heat like inline-4 water-cooled engines. But than, its not just bout staying ahead, but making smiles and havin fun.
Only 109 hp but up-to 87 ft/lbs. Incredible machines, practically bulletproof, low-maintenance, good mpg and reliable, with 6.9 travel-inches of fully adjustable motocross-heritage Showa front-and-aft suspensions, about 450 lbs wet, intensely flickable with short-wheelbase, tight-rake and low center-of-gravity, top-of-the-line competition perimeter single-rotor 6-piston front-brakes, proprietary Buell-blueprinted-and-engineered Sportster-derived fire-breathing Thunderhead engine that barks, grunts, snarls, burbles, snorts and roars.
This bike will pull strong in the 1st four gears, absolutely loves to stand-up tall as it accelerates out of sweepers and tight corners, making it feel so efforless. And as they say, hp sells engines, but torque wins races.
Goddamned HD management was el magnificat stupido to hang Buell out to dry like they did, taking-over Buell and then letting-it wither-and-die of neglect. They lost SO much expanded market reach, a broad customer-base and heritage credibility when they let-go what they had made in partnership with ~ a gung-ho American-made V-twin adventure-sport-flattrack-cafe racer/speedway cruiser with TT-attitude and hillclimb-spunk, that could compete head-to-head with the Jap 4/German/Italian lineup, providing even more-smiles-pure-miles and pure throttle-twist bliss. Dang I wish I could still ride ... Buell's are an American Icon legacy fer shure, Keep 'em InTheWind, Cheers!
Very well written comment. It's funny, I just started riding a couple years ago, and the only Harley's I'm interested in are the Vrods and Buells. They're completely missing a big part of the market. Looking at possibly buying an old XB right now. That look combined with the sound is exquisite.
I finally made it to the end I started reading this 4 yrs ago.
😂😂😂@@TheWolf047
I have always wanted one of these! Blue and gold ❤
Nice done - Thank you verry much !
awesome bike, could listen to it all day.
This was back when i loved your vids
roasted.
The muscle sport bike that could've had its trend..There was the Yamaha MT-01 but the bike is more difficult to find as well as the buell XB12's, and M2 lightnings for sale.
I love the looks and the sound. I just wish they were faster. Like an xb-12r with the motor of the 1125r
i mean, they are almost as fast as any 600cc inline 4 to 100 mph, beyond that not so much. but for most riders having a zippy 0-100 time is more than enough power
Ride one and see how quick it is . 3.5 0-60 . Only 103 hp but 81ft lbs of torque and man are they torquey as hell
@@fastcar42069 probably gonna beat most 600 in lines to 100mph . Definitely gonna beat them to 80 . .
@@josephfoster3819 yeah i have an xb12r, they are definitely fast. Hang on tight
@@fastcar42069 my uncle has a xb12s .I think there about the same . It really surprised me when I rode it the other day .
Is this the original color ??
Is the 05 and 06 that different?
I can hear the disappointment in the narration lol 😂
What bikes are more nimble? Please, enlighten me.
none
(almost none, even by today's standards)
I use to have 2006 xb12 and i miss it.
It's a Firebolt, not a Thunderbolt
"If you take this on a track, you'll have a Blast!" .errrrr....I thought that was a bit of a smaller bike? :)
I’m looking to pick up a 2004 buell firebolt but I’ve heard a lot of bad reviews on it 🙁, like you are constantly always having to fix something on it, but seriously needing something reliable what is your opinion thanks again
Not true. Just spend a little more up front to get one thats been taken care of. You can always tell. If it looks like it was ridden rough, go home and find another. Look at my channel to look at the videos of my firebolt to get an idea of what a nicely taken care of one looks like. I paid 4200 for it in the midwest
No they are pretty rock solid. Parts are also cheap. Most of the fuel injection is 90s for mustang. Pump and injectors. They just vibrate but its the nature of the bigger vtwin so u just have to secure bolts every so often. No real major flaws. Excellent handling bikes good torque. Great streetbike. Although the 05-07 had some updates and the 08 and up had better transmissions and fuel injection better forks and front caliper.
The Harley and unreliable is old amf news ever since the evolution engine came out in the 80’s they are bulletproof trust me on this dad built Harley’s and was featured in magazines. I was on Harley before I could drive…
This area looks so familiar where in Pennsylvania are you guys at
Hopefully getting my 2nd buell Sunday
Love that sound
why have u stopped wearing full gear? in a video from a while ago you said youd never ride without gear...
im getting a little lax on these brutal hot days, i still wear a helmet. and i drive on the same route. but i cant argue with you, because you are right. normally i just wouldnt be riding on such hot days, but i have to
atleast use gloves :) ur hands thank you when u crash :S or get some well breathing summer gear :) like i got gloves that have leatehr and kevlar but still pass through alot of air, not hot at all :) love your videos tho
im 100% with you i need to invest in some cool summer gear. thanks for keeping me accountable brother
@@Srkcycles I live in Phoenix Arizona. We get temps daily in the 110°F+. There's no excuse....
@@RM-nj3dz Bet you're fun at the bingo parlor......
Would you compare it to a SV650?
I’ve had both. The buell is better at everything, but if the sv650 is all you can get it will absolutely not let you down. Especially if you upgrade the machine
What part of The Commonwealth are you from, my man?
I had one like that as a track bike--great fun!!!
not compared to a liter bike because you need to ride with one to see how fast it is .You would be surprised and it will pull on a R1 . R1 is more horse power 85% and above. R1 has problems staying with the XB12R in the twisties.
D. C uhm the r1 would smoke you man who are you even kidding hahahaha
@@doylee469 no the r1 has less torque thus less take off speed ditch the rice bike dude.
DarkStar02 sorry man, even cruisers have torque. My raider can beat an r1 0-40, big whoop. The r1 smokes that shyt harley
@@doylee469 who honestly cares my dick swings low and don't need nothing to prove otherwise.
DarkStar02 right on man! Be safe out there
Привет подскажи стоит покупать?
Where are you at? The scenery looks beautiful.
+Richard Do Lancaster county pa
Can you ship one to Canada?
Thumbnail looks like gta. Bad riding at 1:51
V twin or die
So cool
Firebolt not a thunderbolt.
Stop talking shit about Buell. It’s a bike with a character. If I really wanted a fast bike I would aim for a hayabusa.
You're spot on. They have all kinds of character. I still remember hearing one for the first time. The sound is spectacular. They seem like a chill sportbike to me. Not everybody wants to go 160 mph. Always loved them.
@@ratstrat1984still remeber the very first time I ever saw a Buell.... over 20 years ago. It's the only bike I can actual say that about. All of the others are great but they kinda run together.
Sounds like it has a turbo
Absolutely beautiful AMERICAN vtwin sport bike in an absolutely beautiful AMERICAN farm land. Jeez...
S1 is the original hooligan naked bike
I have a 05 xb12 R its my favorite bike ever i will go up against anyone on the switchbacks in Colorado on my bike . I will eat anyleather bike on the roads were i come from .
It's a firebolt not a thunderbolt...
why are you wearing shorts while riding, do not wear shorts
1:51 "uh"
Shorts.. nice..
Cool
I'm in ENgland, I wish I could buy one of those to export here
This guy never knows what he’s talking about
Frankly I prefer it. I just want to see the ride. Motorcycle nerds are annoying af. If that's your thing go watch the bobble head on fortnine.
You want the facts just look it up.
Zero enthusiasm. The tonality says this isnt very exciting.
Many have told me if you buy one of these you may as well chuck your cash out of the window as they are slow sellers.
Couldnt be more wrong. Mine gets compliments and stares at every gas station and parking lot. They are rare and sexy and people stare. And quite fast too
@@fastcar42069 Couldn't be more right. Buells are nice bikes, but they're hard to sell. Most people like them, but shy away from buying one.
@@badlydrawncars6460 I mentioned selling my bike next year, and already have 2 different people asking to be first in line. One guy is 3 hours away across the state, and the other is 2 states away. They both said they'll drive to me. Find me a CBR or a R6 that demands that kind of attention. Sure most people might be hesitant, but those who know about Buells (and believe me a lot of people still do) are going to jump on an opportunity the minute they pop up for sale.
I just bought one this year. Been riding for decades and the xb12R is no joke.
Please wear gloves Brother hell on the hands reading scripture... great content thank you
your right about 1thing...it isnt a "liter" bike, its more than a liter....it seems like you will say anything to sell bikes....
Corey Slater lol are you brain dead, he meant 1000cc sportbikes
