@@AugustAbukasisYeah but that's kinda the problem. There are movies about mental illness and various disorders. The is a movie about people WITH mental illness. Sorry for the big with...I can't remember how to italicize
(Spoiler) I don’t think I can overstate how significant this film is to me. As a person with bipolar disorder, this was my first ever experience watching someone like me actually get their happy ending in a film, and it gave me hope during a very dark period in my life.
My fiancee has borderline personality disorder, which has some traits of bipolar, my therapist told me to watch this movie and it was very informative.
As someone who struggles with mental illness, I absolutely love this film. It does a great job at depicting what it's really like to live with mental illness. It makes the characters feel so relatable because they are relatable.
Same here with mental illness. Watch Joker if you haven't already. Holy shit Joaquin Phoenix nailed the mental illness part. There was so much shit he did in that movie that I do, have done, or said or shit that happened to him that happened to me. I felt like I was watching myself and my life unfold. Of course being mentally ill I wondered if I was not only watching my past and present but also my future as a villain. But anyway watch Joker.
Yes, anyone has had any experiences with mental illness near or from a far can feel this more, like when the patient spits out the meds... what that can lead to an out burst and not pretty at times, but in the movie it adds some drama and it's never made to so anyone feels trauma. It was an amazingly well done movie. Lol
This was a beautiful movie, these two poor broken people finding and healing each other. Still brings me to tears many years later. (And Jen.was never more beautiful inside & out.)
This movie was so well done and entertaining. Every scene was great. Usually films drag at a point, but this one didn’t. Riveting from start to finish. Every actor in this including the supporting cast was top notch.
This film is so significant to me as I too suffer from manic depressive bipolar disorder with psychosis tendencies. This movie and 12 years of my life proves even with a mental illness or chemical embalance you can find someone who loves you for all of it 💯
@moviesynopsis001 It's a movie which depicts real life. I am part of a support group for people with Bipolar Disorder, and everyone has their own stories and experiences. Many finding happiness and stability while others, still suffering. The movie portrays just another one of our stories.
I'm bipolar. After watching this movie I called my mom and asked if I was really this bad. She didn't say anything. Just silence. Which I took as a big fat yes or even worse. A lot of shit made sense. I apologized for the years of lunacy I pretty much unknowingly put her and the rest of my family through.
just watched this with my son...Sundays were special days for our family too can totally relate! no matter how many strange family members we had, they were all invited to Sunday pasta dinners. nuns, priests, neighbors, relatives....etc. you never knew who was coming to dinner. love Deniro, Cooper, and Lawrence!
This movie is so relatable to me because I have a bipolar disorder as well as a borderline personality disorder (what pat and tiffany suffered from). The ending was amazing and changed my perspective in alot of things
Idk what I love more about this movie, the fact that it was filmed in Philadelphia, the cast or the Eagles apart of the script. One of my favorite movies
The movie is great! really made my day to be honest ,relatable in many ways .you all will love it great heartfelt movie and it's a true story of the man who wrote it
One of director David O. Russell's finest works adapted from the best selling novel even after 10 years Such a terrific cast of Bradley Cooper, Jennifer Lawrence, Robert diNiro, Chris Tucker, and Julia Stiles The film has you sympathizing and understanding how Pat came to be while also looking at the downsides of mental health like paranoid schizophrenia This man doesn't know how to function but he has a good heart and a good soul, it's hard to convince himself Russell creates characters with such depth and understanding calling them out seeing how other individuals are affected Cooper and Lawrence have amazing chemistry together and tight performances The film succeeds too revitalizing that discredited genre where so many others have failed, injecting it with the grit and emotion of realist drama rather than with amped-up whimsy or social satire It's got amazing casting, fully fleshed out people, scary at times, and the dynamic between the father and son is handled very well A terrific character piece too next to a complicated love story
You said it right there my friend!! It really is an excellent character piece as you said. David o Russel's 'The Fighter' was one of my favourite movies of the 2010s but this one tops it for me. I have seen it countless times and will continue to do so!!
I might lose my man card here but There are 2 movies I don;t seem to be able to watch anymore without being brought to tears. #1 The end of the movie Rocky when Rocky dies, and #2 seeing Jennifer Lawrence after the Dance competition near the end of this movie. The acting is simply off the charts in this movie. It's as if you were there in there place emotionally. This movie has become one of my all time favorites. No it' not Gladiator, 300, or Troy, but it just kicks ass in a different way.
Bipolar II is similar in that a person experiences severe bouts of depression, though episodes of mania, referred to as hypomania with Bipolar II, are not as intense or severe as with Bipolar I.
I've read somewhere that people with 2 typically end up having longer, more severe bouts of depression later on with little to no recovery times compared to 1. Wonder if that is true? It's like with 1 there is no ceiling and in 2 there's no floor.
is anyone else bothered that Bradley's character us looked at as the bad for beating up the guy? I mean, I don't blame him for snapping. He comes home from work to find his wife in the shower, having sex with another man, who I want to say was a coworker. To make matters worse their wedding song was playing. Like how badly can you give your husband the finger? And his wife doesn't get any punishment for it. In fact, all Bradley's character still had feelings for his wife even after everything she did.
Could only follow half of what you said, but I have not only picked up the role of being my partner, but also replaced my parents with myself. And I know people who are better up for the role of my parents then my parents. But, I can't technically become my biological parents no.. you are right. People are people, they are unique and in that way irreplaceable. Some of them you like and some of them are toxic, and they can be your parents or someone else. The grief with loosing a person would prob match with what the person means to you. And yes, can also have grief for what is not there. What should have or never had been.
dont know why they deemed the guy insane he had every right to beat the hell out of the bloke. you would have to be a second to jesus not to loose your temper coming home from work to that. our society is messed up.
One thing I never quite understood about this movie was why the HELL Pat’s doctor discharged him when he’s clearly still manic. They gave up on him or something? Also, any doctor who isn’t a complete hack would totally notice that he didn’t take his medicine and would never release him from the hospital until he does! I have bipolar 1, in case you wondered.
Very Philly...she says "HEY", he speaks his mind, the betting, the tailgate attitudes and scrappin', King of Prussia, the way her man is killed on the Schuylkill, the diner wo fear of what other people think, Jewelers Row, Italian-Irish descent. EVEN some Eagles uniforms have Silver Linings.
I’ve watched this movie, a million times and for the first ever I just saw at the end when he approached nikki and whispered in her ears that the cops that’s been following him Around is right there in the table next to Nikki 😮 am I the only one?

Bipolar is actually pyrrole disorder and Vitamin B6 and zinc are severely depleted which causes it. Google "Pyrrole Disorder for Therapists"
They need make more movies like this, mental illness but more about their lives and positivity
