I had 2 watches the battery went dead in the other one and I had them replace both batteries I didn't notice that this is solar power. The battery is over 10 years old and still working. I'm a contractor I have bang and beat on this watch and it still works great, I did change the watch band. They are no scratches on the face.

I recently got one as a gift. It was purchased about 2 years ago, but I just received it. It was made in Japan. So far, the bezel is quite firm, and my compass only fluctuates about 1 degree. (But it would be nice if it stayed on longer...) Knowing the exact sunrise/set times is very helpful for us hunters. Legal shooting hours are 30 minutes before sunrise to 30 minutes after sunset. The exact times don't matter much for walking through the woods, but they are VERY important to hunting legally. As for it looking like a toy, well, when my family first saw it, they tried not to laugh and said it looked like something from the old Rescue Heroes cartoons! Thanks for a great review.

If you still have this watch, how has it been holding up? I recently purchased a black resin band version of the watch like yours. But I've been reconsidering exchanging it for the titanium band version because of potential for "resin rot" of the resin band version of this watch.
I just got this from Casio as the watch I sent in for repairs no longer had parts available. They wanted me to pay $172 but I pointed out that Amazon has it now for $159 from Casio so they agreed to match it. I have had 3 different Pathfinder Triple Sensor watches for about the past 20 years, they hold up well but eventually if you need repairs Casio won't have the parts so you just trade it in and pay a bit for a new watch. One more thing, the review is pretty good but I would suggest a hand model next time. It isn't really pleasant to look at scabs and cuts around the cuticles and chipped finger nails. No offense meant as I work a lot now with my hands and sure couldn't hand model but I used to shoot jewelry catalogs when I had my studio so maybe I'm a bit picky about shots with hands in them.

great review! it is a little hard for me to tell what the watch would look like worn cause the camera is so close to it when it's on your wrist so maybe next time you could get a causal shot of it being worn?

James I just got mine at REI it's a camping place and I paid will they matched Amazon's price Amazon has it for $150 I thought that was a good deal because of the summertime early summer it was $200 so I got a 150it's a great watch I love it man thank you for sharing this video you helped me out a lot thank you so much I'm not sure if it has a crystal face or not maybe you could tell me when you read my text if it has a crystal face
Mine work very good up at NAWS C.L. it operated well even with the amount of magnetic resonance in the area. The magnetic declination calibration is very helpfull. The altimeter was spot on, very good tool for any serious hicker / outdoors trooper.
@snoopdawgful The graph shows you the average trend of the barometric pressure. If there is quick downward trend on the graph it means a low pressure system (rain, storm) is developing. As it starts to trend upwards the weather should get better.
@w1nterb4m It's protrek watch only.. Casio has given different name to this watch in different continent... In US and Canada it is known as pathfinder..
Casio should do a repaint of this and put it in the G-shock line. It just sounds better Casio G-shock Pathfinder PAG-240 or put a compass in the riseman

In the countdown timer mode, how do I set the seconds? For example, I would like to set the timer to 0 hours 18 minutes and 15 seconds. How is this done? I can't figure it out from the manual and toggling between fields in the countdown timer settings skips the seconds altogether.

Casio G-Shocks are way more water resistant. Some people consider that good or some people don't care either way. Somebody once say on a watch forum that Casio G-Shocks are a watch with special features but a Casio Pathfinder, Casio Protreck, or even a Sunnto is a computer watch. Personally, I know how tough I am with all my watches. I use the buttons like crazy and I take them in the shower all the time. Casio G-Shocks are tougher. Right now, the PAG-240 is almost the same price as the Riseman.

FYI, the PAG-240-1CR can be found at some Costcos for $99 delivered in some markets (as of Holidays 2018).

After 11 years my didgets are partially deleted, great watch even if does weigh a lot, just received the new one, but no instructions???

If you're running, won't the backlight keep activating, or is it a very particular position that the watch likes?

James is no longer with Watchreport and hasn’t been for some time. I believe these are mineral crystals on this watch

None. It's the same watch. The Protreks were being called pathfinders some years before.
Hi, I have had the watch since 2012... It has somehow locked itself. On the bottom left of the watch it flashes a 'c' symbol. Can you help please.

100 meters is 328 ft so I would think you could take it diving unless of course you plan on going deeper than 100 meters ?
