I’m new to Mocha and have tried using the version that comes with AE and it frustrated me. But with these pro features, I’m going to consider purchasing... Keep these awesome tutorials coming.
Thank you :) Yup, you can save time by only rotoscoping the exact parts you need. I generally go a bit further in case I want to change my composition or reposition elements behind what I've rotoscoped without having to re-rotoscope anything. Plus, I felt it showed the new tools a bit better in this tutorial :D
Wow. It is very useful tutorial. Please can you make a tutorial to teach how to roto a hair in mocha pro. Because it is looks like very compicated when they have a curly hair. Thanks you.
Hi,, I would love to see how you make adjustments in AE after you have applied your tracking data to a comp ? I’m adjusting mine by going into the comp with the insert in and making adjustments there but you can’t see your adjustments until you go back into main comp ? Is there an easier way ?? Any help would be great thank you
The magnetic spline tool follows high contrast areas. If you placed a contrast effect on the video, and boosted the contrast significantly, would the magnetic spline tool be more efficient? After you roto everything out, you could turn the contrast off. Is that possible?
How to show alpha and feather add to edges splines in Mocha pro while Rotoscoping sir? Please sir replying any cool tips and answer for these !!! Hi sir myself Rony, i'm a VFX student from India
Can i do hair Rotoscopy in mocha pro new version. In Silhouette there is a tool 'open spline' which is very good for hair roto. Can you please tell me how can i roto hair in mocha pro?
Here's some tips on how to rotoscope hair in Mocha: forum.borisfx.com/t/hair-rotoscope/4405/4 You're likely much better off shooting in front of a green screen or using tools such as Silhouette (or the Refine Edge tool in After Effects)
Great totorial! I'm little confused for this though: in Mocha shapes are merely where to "search" information for trakcing, and keyframing a shape is not equivalent to changing the tracking at that point in time (adjust track function is what does that right?), how did you change the shape directly to fix the tracking?
You can adjust the shape at any point in time, it will create a new keyframe. Note that if you 'track' it will use whatever the current shape is to generate (or update) the tracking data. But you are correct in that the shapes are simple attached to the tracking data, but they do not represent the actual track itself - if that makes sense :)
I hope I get around to more at some point :) For the time being I am focused a little more on Blender, but hopefully will do more Houdini in the future

@@SurfacedStudio actually I am a VFX student and I cannot afford expensive graphics cards. For this reason, I looking specifically at this type of low budget graphics card. Would a GTX 1050 Ti be enough for light animation (MAYA, C4D, AE, etc) and video editing (Premiere Pro)?

Even if you don't have the Pro version, I'd still (personally) use Mocha AE for my rotoscoping work :) ruclips.net/video/5xo0905z3jg/видео.html I'm just not a big fan of the rotobrush tool. You could also try to use some rough masks and Extract effects or a Difference Matte (after stabilising the footage)
@@SurfacedStudio Ahh but not if it was implemented properly. example, you have FULL control over the behavior such as frame ranges, you could paint "weights" on how much snap influence, as well as weight the curve influences from one point across in-between points. and also like in modeling how you can paint "relax" the mesh.. you could paint out the influence over time..
As long as it meets the minimum requirements for the programs you intend to run you should be fine :) GPU still only plays a very TINY role in actual performance for 3D or video editing - a strong CPU, SSDs and plenty of RAM likely pay back the most in terms of performance
I don't know if it's 'easier' and I haven't used all the other available packages either so I'm not really in a position to make a fair comparison. I like Mocha over using hand animated masks or the Rotobrush tool. I'm hoping to try out Silhouette Paint soon as well which is supposed to be a common tool used in the industry
@@SurfacedStudio Thank you for replying. I have been using Silhouette 2020 past couple of days, and to be honest its pretty good for doing Roto and also has Mocha integrated for tracking too. My wild guess is that if you get most of the tools working together in Silhouette 2020 ( which I am trying to figure out), I think it is possible to get a perfect Roto within a matter of a couple of minutes. I will let you know if I discover anything interesting in that context. Looking forward to your tutorial on Silhouette Paint. Keep the tutorials coming, they are really good . Cheers
Yeah, some features are only available in the Pro version unfortunately. Mocha AE is pretty awesome all on its own though, but some of the advanced stuff is for the paid version only
Why is it more efficient to roto a bunch of body parts and rescrub through each part as opposed to doing his whole body at once and tracking only once?
Because you will need less keyframes per shape. If you try to roto the entire body in one shape you'll likely end up with one keyframe per frame - which will be a horror to manage. You can always give it a shot and see how that compares - best way to learn sometimes is to just try :)
Thanks for info. Rotoscoping is a pain. I do wonder why if snapping is so helpful why isn't it enabled during the initial track? Seems like an obvious thing to enable to make better tracks the first time saving more time.
Personally I can understand why it's not - it's the same issue that the rotobrush tool has. Automatically guessing movement is hard so it's likely to go wrong (a lot) and stopping / fixing / correcting after the fact is often more work than just cleaning up with on-demand snapping when needed :) But that's just my opinion
