I remember this series. The title was later shortened to just Parker Lewis. Is it me or was this just a copy of Ferris Bueller's Day off? Was that intentional or a coincidence?

It came after Ferris Bueller and Saved by The Bell. But in all honesty, I prefer Parker Lewis.
