Not michel but i'll answer anyway. Due to the fact that the Diagramm originally sorted the Stars by spectral group (OBAFGKM) and stars are black bodies (colour=temperature) that can be tracked accordingly. hope that expains it? Otherwise look on Stackexchange or something
