In this video I will explain what happens when our Sun (star) is no longer in its main sequence of life.

I'm so happy I found your videos! My Astronomy teacher got his degree in Physics which is awesome but it seems like his enthusiasm lies mostly in physics and his teaching method is nowhere near as good as you! He basically reads slides and doesn't explain things in an interesting way. Very low energy, putting people to sleep. It's sad. Now I can always watch your videos!

Very good series of lectures, thank you. Ha, I've started consoling people who are unhappy at my workplace by reminding them that they only have 5 billion years until the sun burns out so they had better enjoy themselves now !

Hi Professor. I read in wiki that Betelgeuse is a red supergiant that has evolved from an O-type main sequence star. it makes sense as the age of it is relatively short. but why classified it as an M type?

All red giants will appear on the right side of the HR diagram due to their surface temperature. (Note that the spectral types apply to the main sequence stars). Also, red giants are further classified by their luminosity class.
