Can't wait to hear what you think after cooking on it. Certainly looks interesting.

Yes. Weber retained their unique idea of replacing the typical, solid drip pan with something resembling the flavorizer bar design from their gas grills that enabled their previous Smokefire Pellet Grills to achieve high, searing heat.

Would you recommend this over a Traeger in terms of smoking? Also, how well does it grill? Good grilling is absolutely a priority over smoking, as it would be the only grill we own. If it still grills fantastic and we can smoke occasionally, we may get this. Otherwise, if a grill like a weber genesis grills better than the Searwood by leaps and bounds, than Genesis it is.

We haven't tested this new model yet, but the previous version, Smokefire, was at once a great smoker and great grill. Most pellet "grills" cannot acheive high, searing temps across the entire cook surface. They really are pellet smokers - not pellet grills. But Smokefire's unique design that replaced the standard drip tray with flavorizer bars provided more heat than you'd typically want. We learned not to turn it up all the way for fear of burning foods. Searwood has a similar design, so it's a good bet it provides similar results.

I have the opportunity to purchase this pellet grill/smoker new for $700 (the XL model) is it worth it? Someone won it in a raffle and they don't want it, so they're letting it go for much cheaper. Thank you.

@@AmazingRibs Really? The XL model I looked at in the store listed for $1199. Maybe I'm confused.

@@mattcaplis3045 Sorry, I quoted the price for a differnt model. Same device only smaller. Max is still testing it but I think he likes it a lot.

@@jeffmcpeeks 13 photos and a lot of words on that page, but Max is still not done testing. He takes his time and is more thorough than the people who take it out of the box and do one cook and rush to be the first.
