I've never forgiven Carl for digging out Joe Calzaghe when Carl was on the rise (going back to around 2005) and Joe was starting to clean house and became a national and international boxing superstar. Carl really shot himself in the foot, cos Joe refused to fight him for all the bad mouthing cos he did not want to give Carl a pay-day. Joe's decision was fully vindicated, as Carl LOST to Kessler in 2010 and LOST to Ward in 2011 (plus Carl struggled badly against Jermaine Taylor & Andre Dirrell in 2009).

@@nubianpiye We have heard this being said re Wilder but is it true? What we do know is that Rob McCracken at the time had said he didn’t fancy the Wilder fight. So A-J’s trainer didn’t fancy it. With Ortiz, back around the time Ortiz should have faced A-J, Matchroom signed Ortiz, but why? They done nothing with him, just kept him out the way, to me it’s fairly clear he would have given A-J problems due to his style and skill level.

@@nubianpiye When you look down who A~J has faced in his pro career the only ones who are not old were Parker and Ruiz (let’s not count Wallin as he isn’t top level) The A-J v Parker fight the ref never let them fight so will never know what would of happened and we know what happened with Ruiz, he is decent enough but not anything great and if he never ate all the burritos he would of won the rematch as well but he let himself and his nation down.

We do know that back then Matchroom didn’t really work with other outfits as they wanted control, so it was highly likely that the Wilder fight would not happen. Which is frustrating as we want to see these fights. I mean A-J might of won but he also might of got iced, we were robbed of finding out.
